Welcome to Expresso Calendar and Address Book 1.0

This file contains information on last minute changes and some tips on using Expresso that were not included in the manual.

* The HowTo section of Help has a new section entitled "Expresso Hints". Please read it!

* Importing Files from Other Programs

If you're using another calendar, address book or to-do list product, you must first export your data from that program as a text file using the default export settings. Expresso provides many Import templates that are based on the default export settings of other programs. If you don't find your template (or for any other import problems) refer to the Reference Manual (pp. 70-75).

- Importing from TouchBase Pro
The manual is incorrect on page 71. TouchBase Pro users should set the field delimiter to TAB and the record delimiter to "TouchBase Pro" and use the "TouchBase Pro 3.0 - Special" template to import.

* FlashBack

- The placement of the FlashBack button can be changed. Simply click on it using the right mouse button. Norton Desktop 3.0 users should consider putting the FlashBack button on one of the screen corners.

- If FlashBack is not installed, you can still get your Expresso windows to appear on the desktop using the "FlashBack on exit" preference, or by clicking on the FlashBack button on the right hand side of the title bar in the active Expresso window.

* Printing

- The "From: To:" page range option in the Windows print dialog will not affect the number of pages printed. Expresso printing is based on your data (e.g. days, weeks, individual names, etc.) rather than pages, so printing by pages doesn't really apply!

- Non-PostScript Printers: If you're having problems printing to a non-PostScript printer, try setting the DPI to 150. At higher resolutions, the printer may run out of memory.

* Synchronizing Expresso Files

The file synchronization feature in Expresso is intended for bringing a file up to date with another "version" of ITSELF (called the sync. file). At the end of synchronization, the file is copied back onto the sync. file, making them exactly the same. See the Expresso Reference manual (pp. 68-70).

* Using Expresso Files on a Macintosh

To open Windows Expresso files on a Macintosh, use the "Show All" option in the Open dialog to see the files.

* Uninstalling Expresso

The uninstall process leaves the file "expsetup.exe" in your Windows directory. You may delete this file from the File Manager when uninstalling is completed.
