What's New in BOOTCON version 2.1

The following enhancements have been made to BOOTCON version 2.0 to
    create version 2.1:

Has a Compare function to see exactly what is different between
any two configurations and optionally reconcile the differences.

An INI file comparison feature enables you to compare two INI
files on a section-by-section basis and reconcile the differences
        if desired.

Has an Archive feature that makes it easy to save old versions
of configurations for safekeeping and easy retrieval if needed.

Version 2.1 includes the Modular Program Scheduler for Windows.

Has a CoEdit feature that makes it easy to simultaneously edit
the CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT portions of all the configurations.

Version 2.1 automatically detects when the memory is being
optimized by QEMM Optimize, 386MAX Maximize, DOS 6 MemMaker, and
NETROOM Customize. It is no longer necessary to go into Standalone
        Mode.

The Consistency Check has been modified to be more flexible and
        easier to use.

The Common configuration has been made obsolete, though the same
functionality can be accomplished with the Include feature if
        desired.

The root directory CONFIG.SYS no longer contains the CONFIG.SYS
portion of all the configurations, but instead contains only the
        statements for the current configuration.

Version 2.1 makes it easy to change the order of the configur-
        ations on the Boot Menu.

Many enhancements have been made to the Include feature.

The method for adding Alternate Files has been made easier to use
        and more powerful.

Version 2.1 automatically recognizes most kinds of disk compres-
sion and chooses defaults that are correct in most instances.

Security has been enhanced so that you have the option of requir-
ing a password when starting BOOTCON Setup and/or accessing the
        Archive List.

All customization settings are now performed with BOOTCON Setup.

The BOOTCON.EXE program can now be run from the DOS command line
to reboot and automatically select the specified configuration.

The Echo status can be changed while at the Boot Menu by using
        the F8 key.

The Escape and F5 keys can be used to boot with no configuration.

The ALT key can be used during the boot to bypass BOOTCON and
        boot with the previous configuration.

The Import feature now finds the files CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT
in addition to files with matching extensions.

BOOTCON Setup can now copy the BOOTCON files onto the hard disk
rather than requiring the user to make a directory and copy them
        manually.

The OS2DOS program included with BOOTCON 2.0 is not included with
version 2.1; however, if you are using OS2DOS and you have a
version prior to 1.02b, please call MSS to obtain an update.

The following enhancements were added to BOOTCON version 1.60 to
    create version 2.0:

        Handles up to 100 configurations.

Includes a user-friendly interface for managing your configurations.

        Works with MS and PC-DOS 6.x, and DR-DOS 6.0.

        Supports the use of Includes.

Allows manipulation of files other than CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT
        (such as WIN.INI).

Allows each configuration to have a password.

Allows video mode and color customization (allowing more visible
        items on the bootup menu).

        Supports a mouse.

Automatically detects changes to your configuration files and
gives you the opportunity to keep or discard the changes.

Allows you to customize the hotkey for each configuration. Now you
can press "W" for Windows and "D" for DOS.

Uses less memory after the boot (none in many cases).

        Allows complete command line control.

Allows you to temporarily inactivate a configuration so that it
does not appear on the Boot Menu.

Supports switching between DOS and OS/2 during each boot (replacing
        OS/2's Dual Boot feature).

        Automatically invokes your favorite editor.

Works better with Stacker and SuperStor.
