---[ Manual Installation Instructions ]------------------------------[2.0]--

These manual installation instructions are only needed if the
normal MPS installation described in Appendix F in the BOOTCON
manual fails, or if MPS is supplied on two 360k disks. In
either of these cases follow these instructions.

All the MPS related files are found in the MPS subdirectory
of the BOOTCON distribution disk. If the BOOTCON disk is
a 720k format then the MPS files will be on a separate 720k
disk in an MPS subdirectory. If BOOTCON is supplied on 360k
disks then MPS will be on two additional 360k disks in an MPS
	subdirectory.

Most of the MPS files are compressed. Manually installing MPS
requires using the EXPAND utility supplied with Windows to
uncompress the MPS files and place them in the proper
directories. The EXPAND program can normally be found in the
	Windows directory.

A typical MPS installation will place the files MPSHELP.HLP,
MPS.EXE, and this README file in a subdirectory named MPS. You
may use whatever name you prefer. The remaining files must be
	placed into the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

The EXPAND utility can be used to uncompress and copy the files
to the proper directory in one operation. Note that a number of
these files will be found on MPS disk 2 if MPS is supplied on 360k
	disks.

First create a directory for MPS using the DOS "MD" command. Then,
use commands similar to the following to expand the files:

	    EXPAND A:\MPS\MPS.EX_ C:\MPS\MPS.EXE
	    EXPAND A:\MPS\MPSHELP.HL_ C:\MPS\MPSHELP.HLP

Change the drive letters and directory names as needed for your
	system.

With the remaining files you should first check to see if a later
version of the file already exists on your system. If so, you
should not use the version that is on the MPS disk. To check
the version, use the DOS "DIR" command to compare the dates of
	the files.

To expand the remaining files into the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory,
use commands similar to the following:

	    EXPAND A:\MPS\VBRUN300.DL_ C:\WINDOW\SYSTEM\VBRUN300.DLL
	    EXPAND A:\MPS\CMDIALOG.VB_ C:\WINDOW\SYSTEM\CMDIALOG.VBX
	    EXPAND A:\MPS\COMMDLG.DL_ C:\WINDOW\SYSTEM\COMMDLG.DLL
	    EXPAND A:\MPS\DDEML.DL_ C:\WINDOW\SYSTEM\DDEML.DLL
	    EXPAND A:\MPS\MSAFINX.DL_ C:\WINDOW\SYSTEM\MSAFINX.DLL

Once again, change the drive letters and directory names as
	needed for your system.

The last file VER.DL_ is not really compressed even though its
name ends with an underscore. Use the copy command to copy
this file to the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and rename the file
so it has the extension .DLL.

The files named SETUP... are not needed when performing a
	manual installation.

Once MPS has been installed, you can start it with Program
Manager and add the MPS icon to whatever group you prefer.

Please refer to Appendix F in the BOOTCON manual and the online
help to begin familiarizing yourself with MPS.
