ANNOUNCEMENT:

For those of you that wish to discover more about MPEG-Audio, and music
for media, we are providing a free download via Internet FTP.

This self-extracting zip file contains an MPEG Layer 3
software-only-decoder and twelve pieces of music for multimedia which
are 16-Bit mpeg-coded audio files. These files can be de-compressed
with the decoder program to 16 Bit, 44.1Khz .WAV files which can be
played-back with most 16 Bit Audio-Cards for the PC.

These audio files are compressed at about 14:1 compression, yet still
yield an almost transparent result. The archived file is just over
900Kbytes, yet when mpeg de-compressed contains about 10 Megabytes of
high-quality music for multimedia.(about 2 minutes of 16 Bit mono)

The MPEG-3 software was written by the folks at Fraunhofer in Germany.
This software contains the same algorithyms which the company is using
in their professional broadcast mpeg codecs. They are the first to
develop Layer-3 MPEG audio, which has earned an ISO standardization.

The audio-files contained in this archive are taken from our CD-ROM
of music for multimedia entitled Sound Palettes. This is a royalty-free
music system which allows you to assemble custom soundtracks for each
of your productions. The CD-ROM contains 8 and 16 Bit (.WAV), Apple AIFF,
and SND files which are compatible with both PC-Windows and Macintosh
computers.

With this Internet archive file, you have the chance to audition the
latest professional-grade MPEG-Coding for audio, and a chance to use
a demo from our world renowned Production Music. This archive also
contains FAQs on MPEG, and information on how to download the complete
MPEG encoder/decoder software suite via their Internet site in Germany.

In order to use this archive, you need a PC-386 or better with a 16-Bit
audio-card which reads .WAV files, and software which will play 16-Bit,
44.1Khz. .WAV files. The MPEG-decoder is a DOS program.

This archive file is entited: MPEGSONG.EXE
