        Microsoft Mail to AT&T Mail Gateway version 1.0

This document supplements the information in the Microsoft Mail
Gateway to AT&T Mail Administrator's Guide and covers the following
topics:

     1. Memory and Machine Requirements
     2. Non-Delivery Reports from AT&T Mail Include Original Message
     3. Additional Log Files to Monitor
     4. Undeliverable Mail Placed in BADMSG Directory
     5. Telebit TrailBlazer Modem Not Supported

1. Memory and Machine Requirements
==================================

1.1 Memory requirements
-----------------------
- The AT&T gateway requires at least 470K of conventional memory
  on the gateway machine.
- The amount of conventional memory on the gateway machine
  determines the number of recipients supported in a message.
  For example, with 515K of free conventional memory, the gateway
  supports approximately 400 recipients. For each additional
  kilobyte of memory, the gateway supports approximately 15 more
  recipients.
- The size of attachments is not limited by the memory.

Configure the gateway machine such that it has the most available
free conventional memory. You can use the MS-DOS MEM command to
find the largest executable program size that you can run on the
gateway machine. For information about how to get the most
conventional memory on your machine, see the MS-DOS and Network
Operating System documentation.

1.2 Dedicated machine
---------------------
This gateway requires a dedicated machine. It cannot be scheduled to
to run by the Microsoft Mail Dispatch program.

2. Non-Delivery Reports from AT&T Mail Include Original Message
===============================================================
Non-delivery reports from AT&T Mail contain an attachment that includes
the original message.

3. Additional Log Files to Monitor
==================================
In addition to the log files that can be viewed through the gateway
Administration program, you as the administrator of the gateway
should monitor the following log files. These log files are in the
gateway log directory.

FFAPIGET.LOG - This log file contains error messages that are generated
               when the gateway tries to get a message out of the
               Microsoft Mail database and fails.
FFAPIPUT.LOG - This log file contains error messages that are generated
               when the gateway tries to put messages into the Microsoft
               Mail database and fails.

4. Undeliverable Mail Placed in BADMSG Directory
================================================
Messages that cannot be delivered to the Microsoft Mail database are
copied to the BADMSG directory located in the gateway directory. The
error condition that caused the problem is logged in the BADMSG.LOG
file, which is also in the BADMSG directory. The Gateway administrator
should monitor this directory and the BADMSG.LOG file frequently.

5. Telebit TrailBlazer Modem Not Supported
==========================================
The Telebit TrailBlazer modem script is not supported in this release
of the gateway.
