NOTES ON MICROSOFT FAX

This document supplements the information in the Microsoft
Fax User's Guide and includes the following topics:

    - Specifying where temporary files are stored
    - Avoiding conflicts between Unidrv printer drivers

Specifying where temporary files are stored
===========================================
When you use Microsoft Fax, a temporary file is created. To
control where the temporary file is stored, you need to do
the following two things:

-When you set up Microsoft Fax, do not enter a drive letter
 in the Setup dialog box. If you do, temporary files are placed
 in the current Windows path on the specified drive.
-Use the MS-DOS SET command to specify a directory. You can
 add this command to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. For example,
 the following line causes all temporary files to be stored
 in the TMPFILES directory: set temp=c:\tmpfiles

Avoiding conflicts between Unidrv printer drivers
=================================================
Microsoft Fax is based on the Unidrv printer driver. To
avoid a conflict between Unidrv based printer drivers,
close all Windows applications before installing Microsoft
Fax. If you do not do so, you may see the error "This driver
cannot be updated because it is currently being used by
Windows. Wait until Windows is finished using the driver,
and then try again." If you get this error, close all
Windows applications and try the Fax installation again.
