# This directory contains "smail lists". They are very similar to the mail
# lists in /usr/lib/aliases except for some differences in their purpose and
# the needs they fulfill.
#
# smail lists are stored one-list-per-file in this directory. If you create a
# file called "allusers" and enter into it all the users on your system, it
# has immediately become a deliverable mailing list. Try running
# smail -bv allusers
# (or whetever you decide to call the first list you make) and it will show
# you how smail will deliver the mail. Smail lists can be useful aside from
# /usr/lib/aliases for the following reasons:
# * a smail list file can be owned and, therefore, maintained by an indiv-
# idual user
# * a smail list file can be created by a cron job or other script
#
# /usr/lib/aliases remains useful for bulk lists maintained by the system
# or mail administrator.
#
# As with other kinds of tools, learn to use the best tool suited to each
# problem and you will find it much easier to do.
#
#
# This README file was added by Ian Kluft (ikluft@wattres.sj.ca.us) for the
# binary distribution of smail 3.1.28 for Linux. You will not find it in
# the source distribution of smail.
#
# Note: this README file is not a deliverable smail list because it is in
# UPPER CASE.
