		   VALUE VISION - Version 1 Release 1
		  Copyright 1992-1993, Fusion Software

Thank you for purchasing Value Vision. We are interested in all comments
and observations you have regarding appearance, usability, functionality
and design.

We would appreciate your suggestions for additional room and item
selections. Also, tell us about any recommendations you have for additional
features, or for changes to current functions.

================================================================================

INSTALLING:

1. Insert the installation diskette into a selected floppy diskette drive.
2. Under Windows Program Manager, select FILE:RUN
3. At the prompt for file name, enter {drive}:SETUP, where {drive} is the
   selected floppy diskette drive.

If you are using an application that accesses file DDEML.DLL in the
WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, you must terminate that application before
installing Value Vision. Optionally, you may edit the file SETUP.LST on
the installation diskette, remove the line: DDEML.DL_, then save the file.

If the installation aborts for any reason, delete the partially installed
files from the hard disk, exit Windows and restart Windows before
attempting to reinstall.

If you are using Norton Desktop for Windows (NDW), or some other desktop
manager, the Value Vision group and icons may not be installed as expected.
Consult your desktop manager documentation if you encounter problems.

If you run with a display utilizing more than 256 colors, you may get a
bitmap error message. This may be corrected by changing the video display
to the standard Windows VGA driver using the Windows Setup icon in the
Main group of Program Manager. After your first session you may change
back to the high color display driver, if desired. The bitmap error will
also occur if you run out of file space on the hard disk.

If you run with the Diamond Stealth VRAM card, you MUST change the
Windows display driver to VGA. If you do not, you will get a general
protection fault during installation, and your machine will likely hang.
After installation, you may change back to the Diamond driver.

WinSpeed driver causes problems similar to the Diamond driver.

BACKING UP THE VALUE VISION INSTALLATION DISKETTE:

First, INSTALL Value Vision to make certain that the installation diskette
is good. Then, make a copy of the installation diskette. Use the DOS
DISKCOPY command to ensure all subdirectories are copied. If you copy
from one disk size to another (e.g. from 5.25 to 3.5), be certain to
create the BIN, ITEMS and ROOMS subdirectories before copying files. The
use of some method other than DISKCOPY will take much more time.

Keep this copy (or the original) OFFSITE, so that you can restore the
system in case you lose the computer or the hard drive.

It is suggested that you keep this diskette in the same location as the
ARCHIVE data diskette produced by Value Vision.

CORRECTIONS/ADDITIONS TO USER GUIDE:

Any corrections to the user guide, or special information, will appear here
when necessary.

The user guide may be viewed on-line and printed using the WRITE.EXE program
that is included in your Windows system. Open file MANUAL.WRI, located in the
root directory of the installation diskette.

A hard copy of the manual may be obtained directly from Fusion Software for a
fee of $25.00 (US).

HINTS AND TIPS

1. You may experience slow progress during the installation process. This
is frequently caused by failure to utilize a disk caching program such as
Windows' SMARTDRIVE. Refer to the Windows User's Guide for more information
on SMARTDRIVE.

2. When placing items into the dwelling, you may not find selections for
certain special items that you have. You may choose a selection that is
similar to your item, then make a note in the description for the item to
fully describe the difference. Or, you can add a custom item selection.
Select FILE:ITEM SELECTIONS from the Value Vision window to add or change
item selections. You may also select the NEW button in the Item Selections
window to create a custom item.

3. A sheet has been included in the Value Vision package to assist
in taking inventory. Make copies of this sheet as necessary, or print
your own sheets by selecting PRINT:INVENTORY FORM from the Value
Vision window.

4. When you are ready to print reports, try selecting a font different from
the Windows default, which is usually COURIER. Many find that the ARIAL
font (included in many Windows 3.1 drivers) is preferable to COURIER.

VALUE VISION 1.1 ENHANCEMENTS

1. New item selection icons

More than 100 new icon selections have been added. These are
automatically added to Version 1.0 if you choose the UPGRADE
	option during SETUP.

2. Add abbreviated reports for Item list and Heir list

These reports now have an option to print full detail or only
item name, description, location (room and floor) and amounts.
Subtotals on the sort sequence may be printed.

3. New/changed item/room selections available without exiting Value Vision

When maintenance functions are selected from the Value Vision FILE
menu, the changes are automatically reflected in the current
session. Version 1.0 required exiting and restarting Value Vision.

4. Description sort

Description has been added to the SORT BY list box in the SELECT
window. The sort is applied to the first 30 characters in the
	description.

5. Password protection

The user may set a password for access to Value Vision. This is
available from the OPTIONS menu. The password may be set, changed
or cleared by the user. Once a password is set, Value Vision will
require entry of the password at start-up.

***WARNING*** DO NOT FORGET THE PASSWORD OR YOU MUST REINSTALL
VALUE VISION TO GAIN ACCESS! YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DATA!

6. Summary totals report

The information in the Summary Totals window may be printed. Select
VIEW:VALUE SUMMARY and select the PRINT button.

7. Font change and Select buttons in List/Print window

The List/Print window now has a SELECT button. This allows quick
access to change the selection criteria and/or sort sequence.
When the PRINT button is selected the FONT button appears in the
	print dialog box.
The SELECT and FONT functions in List/Print work similar to the
same functions accessed from the main window.

8. Enhanced Windows Setup module (replaces former Install module)

. install under non- or non-standard Program Manager
Value Vision now installs under desktop managers other than Program
Manager (e.g. Norton Desktop for Windows).

   . disk space check
A message is issued when there is insufficient hard disk space.

. integrate item/room selections for UPGRADE option
An upgrade option is available for users of version 1.0; item
selections added in version 1.1 are integrated with existing item
	selections.

. program item icons for maintenance, help and readme
New program icons are created for access to maintenance functions,
the help system and the readme file. Version 1.0 provided acess
to maintenance and help only through the main menu, and did not
provide access to the readme file.

9. Improve archive to run windowed w/log

The archive function now runs windowed rather than full-screen.
A new log file ARCHIVE.LOG is generated during the archive process
that helps in determining errors that may occur.

10. Assignment of fair market value

When an amount is entered in the Value window, but the fair market
value is not entered, Value Vision automatically sets fair market
value equal to the entered amount. The same is true for date
acquired and fair market value date.

11. New categories

There are some new categories available for assignment to item
selections. One of these, MEMO ONLY, is used for item selections
that do not require an amount field to be entered (e.g. credit
cards). Version 1.0 users may want to use the item selection
maintenance function to change some of the existing item selections.

12. Item selection maintenance change

The Value Data Suggested check box labeled "Method" has been
changed to "Documentation". Version 1.0 users who set up item
selections using this check box will notice that these items will
now require entry of Ownership Documentation in the Value window.

13. Export and Reset

The EXPORT and RESET features were added in February, 1993, and are
documented in the help system. The newer User Guide also has
	information on these features.
