                                       INTRODUCTION

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

TFP Software is a fast and powerful way to fill out business
forms. TFP Software makes your work easier by letting you fill
out forms on the screen of your computer. No more typos that not
only can be embarrassing, but can waste your time and money. No
more wasted forms; you can make sure all your forms are exactly
right before you print them out.

But TFP Software is much more than a fast and efficient way to
fill out forms. Think of TFP Software as an incredibly handy
electronic file cabinet that lets you generate, store, and
retrieve forms. You purchased a computer system to make your
work faster and more efficient, and TFP Software lets you use the
power of your computer system to eliminate the hassles and
inherent problems of working with loads of paper forms. Instead
of filing cabinets full of printed or copied forms, and
wastebaskets full of wasted forms, TFP Software stores all your
forms away on disk so that you can easily recall or reprint them
later. And the more you use it, the more organized and efficient
your work will become because you'll develop a valuable and
useful electronic file cabinet of your business form records.

                                TFP SOFTWARE FEATURES
          -----------------------------------------------------------------

          - Fast and easy on-screen data entry

          - The form you see on your screen will match your printed form.
We've added special calculating features to your on-screen
form. The calculations will be automatically transferred to
            your printed form as needed.

          - Just like you're using an electronic file cabinet, all the
forms you enter are automatically stored away on disk for
            future reference

          - Macro capability for effortless entry of often-used data

          - Integrated and expanded on-screen help available at any time

          - Time-saving search commands find the form you're looking for
            quickly

          - Cut, Paste, and Copy commands let you easily copy information
from one form to another, so you don't need to repeatedly type
the same or similar information over and over again.

          - Powerful print features let you choose to print just the forms
you've entered during the current sessions, all the forms on
            the disk, or individual forms.

          - Easy and quick printer form alignment

          - Prints report of your session inputs

          - Built-in automatic calculations

          A Couple of Reminders

          - You'll use up a few blank forms each time you setup your
printer. But TFP Software has handy Alignment feature that
will keep unused forms to a minimum.

          - All computers and printers "talk" to each other differently.
If you have a problem printing out forms, check to see if you
have any special commands set-up between your computer and
printer for your regular daily work. They will most likely
            interfere with TFP printing out.

          - You'll find TFP Software not only useful, but easy to use. If
you run into a problem, you can often figure out the solution
by reading what you see on your computer screen or by calling
on TFP Software's instant help screen (explained below). And
if you really get stuck, TFP software support is always just a
            call away at 1-805-484-8081.

                                   GETTING STARTED

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

In order to use your TFP Software package, you'll need the
          following:

          1. An IBM Personal Computer (or compatible) equipped with:

                    -At least 256K of memory
-DOS (Disk Operating System) version 2.1 or later
                    -A printer
-A supply of forms that match your TFP Software package
-2 blank, formatted floppy disks for floppy users

          SETTING UP YOUR TFP SOFTWARE

The first thing you need to do is to make a backup "working"
copy of your TFP Software disk. (The TFP Software is not
copy protected). If your computer has a high-capacity hard
disk storage system, you can copy TFP Software directly onto
               the hard disk.

IMPORTANT: It is important that you make a working copy of
your TFP Software disk and store your original in a safe
place. In case your working copy becomes corrupt or
damaged, you will still have your original disk.

               FLOPPY DISK SYSTEMS

                 1. Start up your system with your MS-DOS or PC-DOS
operating system disk in the first floppy disk drive.
Also make sure you have a floppy disk ready for the
                    copy.

                 2. At the A> prompt type DISKCOPY A: B: and press [ENTER].

                 3. Follow the directions on the screen by removing your
DOS disk and placing the TFP Software disk in drive A.
Place a blank disk in drive B. Press [ENTER].

NOTE: If your system has just one disk drive you will
have to watch the DOS prompts very closely. When asked
for the A disk, insert the TFP Software disk, when
asked for the B disk, insert your blank disk.

                 4. Put the original TFP Software disk away in a safe
place. From now on, you'll be using the backup or
                    "working copy" you just made.

                 5. Place the "working copy" of your TFP Software disk in
                    drive A.

                                         -6-

                 6. Make sure you're "logged on" to the A drive (the "A>"
symbol should appear on your screen).

                 7. To start the program, type TFP and press [ENTER].

               HARD DISK SYSTEMS

If your IBM or compatible has a hard disk system, you can
copy the TFP Software software directly onto it. Your TFP
Software floppy disk has a program that will automatically
install the software on your hard disk. First, you'll have
to decide on a name (that is 8 characters or less) for the
subdirectory, a special area on the hard disk reserved for
the TFP Software. The easiest subdirectory name to use is
an obvious one - such as "TFP".

                 1. Make sure you're logged on to your hard disk (which is
usually drive C:), and that you're in the "root"
directory of the disk. You can make sure you're in the
root area by typing CD \ and pressing [ENTER].

                 2. Type MD \TFP and press [ENTER].

                 3. Place your original TFP Software disk into drive A and
                    close the disk drive door.

                 4. Make sure you're logged onto the drive. If the A>
isn't showing on your screen, type A: and press
                    [ENTER].

                 5. At the A> prompt type the following:
                         INSTALL C:\TFP

NOTE: This assumes that your hard disk is drive C. If
it's different on your system, replace the C with the
drive letter of your hard disk.

                 6. Type C: [ENTER] then TFP and [ENTER] to start the
                    program.

                                         -7-

                           THE TFP SOFTWARE FORM SELECTOR

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

Once you've started TFP Software, you'll see the Form
Selector display. This display is a list of the different
               forms available.

The Form Selector is used to chose which form will be used.

Notice that there are several keys listed at the bottom of
the menu screen. You'll use these to make a choice of which
one you want to use during the current session. Just follow
the directions you see on the screen - Use the arrow keys
to highlight the name of the form you want, then press
               [ENTER].

          FORM DATA STORAGE

               FLOPPY DISK SYSTEMS

The first time you select each form from the Form
Selector, TFP Software will ask you where you want to
store your forms. You'll need to enter a drive and
                    path/directory.

Since there's limited room on the TFP Software program
disk, you should store the forms you enter on a
separate data disk. If you're using a floppy disk
system, have a formatted floppy disk ready, labelled
with something like "TFP Software Data".

Insert the data disk into drive A, (drive B if you have
a two disk drive system). At the path prompt type A:
(or backspace over A:\ and type B:\) and press [ENTER].

               HARD DISK SYSTEM

With a hard disk system, space is generally not a
problem. You can store your forms in the TFP Software
directory by just pressing [ENTER] at the path prompt.

IMPORTANT: After you tell TFP Software where you want
the forms stored, you'll see a message telling you that
TFP Software is unable to find a file. Don't worry!
There's nothing wrong. TFP Software needs to create
the file for storing forms. Just press [Y] and it'll
be done. You'll then be taken to the form, ready to
                    start entering data.

                                         -8-

                                 USING TFP SOFTWARE

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

          THE TFP SOFTWARE SCREEN

There are five parts to a TFP Software form screen. These parts
are the Status Line, Menu Line, Command Line, the Form and the
          Hot Keys.

          THE STATUS LINE

This is the very topmost line of the screen. You will refer to
this line during your day-to-day dealings with TFP Software. The
messages that appear here tell you what you're doing and where
you are among the forms you've stored on the disk.

In the very upper right-hand corner of the screen is a number
that shows which form you're working on. For instance, if you're
previously entered 24 forms and are adding a new one, it'll show
"25". The more forms you add the higher the number.

To the left of the form number is a highlighted word that changes
with the context of what you're doing. It can say:

ENTRY Typing or browsing through forms
FIRST ENTRY The first form stored on your disk
LAST ENTRY The last form stored on your disk
MODEL Search model display on the screen
                    ADD ENTRY Adding new information
                    MEMORIZING Memorizing a macro
PRINTING Printing one or more forms

          MENU LINE

This line is a "menu" of commands for the program. It only
appears when the command choices can be selected.

To move the cursor to the menu line from the typing area, press
[ESC] at any point. You choose a command from the menu options
          by:

                 1. Using the [->] and [<-] keys to move the highlighted
bar to your choice, and then pressing [ENTER].

                                        OR

                 2. Pressing the first letter of the option. (e.g.: press
                    [P] for print.)

IMPORTANT: Choosing some of the options on the menu
line will present you with a further list of choices -
a submenu. You make your choice from a submenu in
exactly the same way as you make a choice off the main
                    menu line.

As you move through the menu line or through the form, the
message line displays text that always explains what you're doing
or gives you option on what to do next.

          FORM AREA

This is the form itself, different for each version of TFP
Software. Note that only part of the form is visible on the
          screen at once.

          HOT KEYS

The Hot Keys at the bottom of the screen are keys used for typing
and filing functions. You have a choice under the Configuration
Menu to display the hot keys for typing, for filing or none at
all. See Appendix A - The Configuration Menu.

          MENU LINE CHOICES

Here's a summary of your main options from the Menu Line.

Type: You'll use this option to go to the form to fill out or
          continue filling out a form.

Search: Brings up the search sub-menu. Press [ESC] to get back
to the main menu. Search for information you've stored on
          previously-entered forms using a "model".

Print: Brings up the print sub-menu. Press [ESC] to get back to
the main menu. The sub-menu lets you align forms in your
printer, print all forms you've entered, and reprint individual
(or all) forms over again. There is also a daily input "report"
for all forms done in the current session (see page 21).

Help: Put you into a submenu of help screen on various subjects
          of TFP Software.

There's also a quick way to get the help information at
any point while you're filling in a form. This "Quick
Help" eliminates your having to press [ESC] and then
[H] to get help. To get help at any point Press [ALT]-
               [H]

Configure: Customize your system to your TFP Software version.
Though you probably won't need to change any of the configure
options, it may be necessary if your printer doesn't work
correctly. (For more information on Configure, see Appendix A.

                                        -10-

Macros: One of TFP Software's most-powerful features, this
option lets you store frequently-used names, phrases, or key-
press sequences for easy use while you're filling out forms.

Quit: Ends the TFP Software session and returns you to the TFP
Form Selector where you can return to your computer's operating
          system.

                                 FILLING OUT A FORM

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

When you start up TFP Software, you'll be taken directly past the
last form previously stored to a blank form - ready to start
entering information. You'll see an "Add Entry" message at the
top right-hand corner of the screen - followed by the form
number. (If this is the first time you're entering data, the
number of course will be 1.)

Using TFP Software is simplicity itself. Just type information
into the on-screen form. If you make a mistake while you're
entering the information, just back up to erase the mistake and
          type the correct information.

As you enter information onto each line of the form (called a
field in computer jargon), just press [ENTER] and you'll be moved
to the next field. Pressing [CTRL]-[ENTER] moves you backwards.
You can also move quickly through the major areas of the form by
pressing [TAB], and backwards with [SHIFT]-[TAB].

But that's only the beginning. TFP Software has numerous
shortcuts for moving around the form on the screen quickly. As
you become more and more familiar with using TFP Software on a
day-to-day basis you'll find these shortcuts will make your work
faster and easier. You can see a complete list anytime by
calling up help ([ALT]-[H]). There's also a complete list in
          Appendix B.

After you're done with one form, you move to another blank form
by pressing [ALT]-[A]. "A' stands for "add" and brings up
another blank form. By pressing [ALT]-[A] the program will
automatically save your form. Once you're done, TFP Software
will batch print all the forms you've entered.

Want to look at a form you've already completed, press [F1] or
[ALT]-[P] to see a "previous" form. Press [F2] or [ALT]-[N] to
see the "next" form after the current one.

          ADDITIONAL TFP SOFTWARE FEATURES

Your TFP Softwares package has additional features that make
          entering information even easier:

          - In tax forms that require mathematical calculations, TFP
Software does the arithmetic for you. If the form has duplicate
fields, like 2 wide W-2s, TFP software will duplicate the data
          for you.

          - You can use TFP Software's "Configure" option to customize the
look of numbers to your preference. For example, you can choose
whether or not to show a dollar sign ($). There's also an option
that lets you choose whether or not you want to show cents in
dollar amount fields. And if you choose to eliminate cents
listings, TFP Software is smart enough to round up to the next

                                        -12-

dollar if the cents figure you enter is 50 cents or larger. (See
Appendix A for more information on TFP Software's configuration
          option.)

          WHY DOES IT BEEP?

TFP Software is also smart enough to "know" what type of
information you should enter in the form's various fields. If
you attempt to enter text into a field where numbers are
required, you'll hear a "beep" from your computer. It's
"telling" you that the type of information you've entered is
incorrect. Use the [DEL] key to remove the wrong characters or
press [CTRL]-[C] to restore the field to its original condition.

                                    FINDING FORMS

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

Since one of TFP Software's most-powerful features is its ability
to store away all your forms for future reference or further use,
you need the ability to move among the forms and find the
particular data you're previously stored away. There are two
ways to do this: Scanning and Searching.

          SCANNING AMONG FORMS

If you don't have a great many forms stored away on your disk,
the easiest way to find the form you're looking for is simply to
          scan the forms.

You use the [ALT] key plus a letter to scan. You may also use a
"shortcut" function key. Here's a summary:

[F1] or [ALT]-[P] Moves to the previous form you've
                                        stored away
[F2] or [ALT]-[N] Moves to the next form
[F3] or [ALT]-[F] Moves to the first form stored on
                                        the disk
[F4] or [ALT]-[L] Moves to the last form
[ALT]-[A] Add a form (brings up a blank form)

          SEARCHING FOR FORMS

Once you have entered a number of forms, you may want to look
back at them for reference or for help in filling out new forms.
TFP Software provides a Search function which allows you to
search for specific forms based on their contents. Using the
Search function is much quicker than scanning one by one through
          all of the forms stored.

To use the search function, you fill in a simple Search Model.
In the model, you type a form with the specific items you want
matched. TFP Software can look at your model, then scan through
the files and find only the ones that match.

To search by a search model, select Search from the Command Menu.
The search submenu will appear: MODEL and SEARCH

                 1. Choose Model from the Search submenu.

The Status line will indicate that the blank form
displayed on the screen is being used as a model.

                 2. Go ahead and fill it out, including only information
you want matched during the search. If you are looking
for the forms stored for a particular item, enter only
that item in the item description field.

                                        -14-

If you want only the forms filled out on a particular
date, enter that date in the date field. If you want
only those forms stored for a particular item on a
particular date, fill out both the item description
                    field and the date field.

                 3. When you have entered all the information you want
matched in the search, [ESC] to the Search submenu.

                 4. Choose Search from the Search submenu.

TFP Software will commence searching and display the
first form it finds that matched the Search Model.
After each match is displayed, you can continue
searching for more by pressing the [ENTER] key.

          CONSTRUCTING A MODEL

In TFP Software, you can "construct" the search model in a number
of ways. You're not limited to entering your model on only the
first line of the form. For instance, you can search based on a
street address, even if the city and state are not included. Or
you can search based on a particular company, no matter what the
address or account number. You don't even need to complete a
line - TFP Software can search based on partial entries.

Once you have built a model, it remains throughout the current
session. When you quit the program, the model is erased.

IMPORTANT: Whatever model you're using you must enter it in the
matching field. For example, TFP Software won't find the form
you're looking for if you enter the telephone number in an
address field; or if you enter a city in the first line of an
          address field.

You also don't need to enter the entire name or number of the
data you're looking for. In the example we used above, you could
just enter "Acme" and TFP Software would find every entry that
starts with "Acme". If you had several different companies that
started with Acme, you could continue to scan through the forms
until TFP Software found a match.

NOTE: TFP Software doesn't care if you enter uppercase or
lowercase letters when you construct your model. You could enter
"ACME", "acme", "ACme", or whatever. TFP Software's powerful
search facility is smart enough to know the difference. But you
must spell your model correctly. If you enter "AMCE" or "ACEM"
          TFP Software won't find "ACME".

          RECALLING A MODEL

The next time you want to perform a search, you don't have to go
through the process of constructing the entire model over again.
Once you've constructed a model, the next time you want to
SEARCH, you can recall the previous model by pressing [ALT]-[R].
You can then use the model again if you want to start from

                                        -15-

scratch. Note that this recall feature only works during your
current TFP Software session. The last model you used is erased
when you exit from the program.

NOTE: You can also create a search model and initiate a form
search by pressing [ALT]-[R] while you are in the FORM mode.
[ALT]-[R] gets you to the same form model screen as the submenu
selection MODEL. Pressing [ALT]-[S] while you are in the FORM
mode initiates the same search action as the submenu selection
          SEARCH.

                                 CUTTING AND PASTING

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

There are often times when it's useful to be able to copy
information from one form to the other. We've provided three TFP
Software commands that help you with the process:

[F7] or [ALT]-[C] Copy an entry
[F8] or [ALT]-[V] Paste an entry
[F9] or [ATL]-[X] Cut an entry

It might be helpful to think of the process as similar to working
with scissors and paste - except an electronic version.

The COPY option is a powerful and useful feature because it
copies all data from the form you see on-screen into a temporary
holding area - called a buffer. You can then PASTE the
          information onto a blank form.

Let's use an example. Say you've just entered data for an Acme
Construction 1099. The next form you need to enter is also for
Acme Construction, but for a different account number. You
obviously don't want to have to re-enter all the address
information again. You don't need to.

                 1. Once you've finished entering information into your
form, press [ATL]-[C] before you add another form.
This copies the contents of the form into a temporary
                    holding area.

                 2. Type [ALT]-[A] to bring up a blank form.

                 3. Type [ALT]-[V]. The data from the previous form will
be "pasted" (entered) into the current form. You can
                    then change it as needed.

The CUT options is one you'll probably seldom use,
because it completely "cuts" all entries from a single
form, leaving it blank. It does, however, hold the
information you've cut in a temporary location so you
                    could "paste" it later.

You can CUT or COPY from any form you've stored away,
and then PASTE it into a new form. This is a powerful
way to avoid having to re-enter information.

NOTE: This feature applies information on the entire
form. For selective information that you enter
repeatedly, TFP Software's MACRO feature is even
handier. See the "Using Macros" section for more
                    information.

                                        -17-

                                         WHOOPS !

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

If you make an error, TFP has two commands which may prove
helpful. One corrects mistakes in a field. The second corrects
          mistakes in a form.

          MISTAKES IN A FIELD
If you make an error in typing over an old field, you do not have
to retype it. Before you [TAB] or [ENTER] or otherwise leave the
field, just type [CTRL]-[C] to "cancel" the changes. The field
will be put back to the way it was.

NOTE: You must press [CTRL]-[C] before you leave the
field or TFP cannot cancel the changes.

          MISTAKES IN A FORM
If you make an error when typing on a form, you can change the
entire form back to the way it was when it last appeared on your
screen. To "undo" all the changes to the current form, type
[F10] or [ALT]-[U]. The whole form will be "undone" back to its
          last contents.

NOTE: You must select "undo" before you leave the form
or page forward/backward to another form or TFP will
not be able to "undo" the form.

WHOOPS, I DELETED (CUT) THE WRONG FORM
If you cut or delete the wrong form by mistake, immediately
"paste" it right back. Whenever a form is cut, TFP saves a copy
of the form for pasting. To paste it back, select [F9] or [ALT]-
[V]. If you cut more than one form, only the last form can be
          retrieved.

                                        -18-

                                 PRINTING YOUR FORMS

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

You can print out single or multiple forms at any time while
you're working with TFP Software, though you'll probably find it
most convenient to enter the information on a group of on-screen
forms, move to the first form you've entered during that session,
and then "batch print" all your forms at the end of the day or
the end of the work session.

When you choose the PRINT option from the menu line, you'll see
          three choices:

Align: Sets up the first form in the printer so that all
subsequent forms will be printed correctly.

Print: Prints forms and includes them in the daily input report.

Reprint: Gives you the option of making additional printed
copies of single or multiple forms that you've already printed
without duplicating them in the daily input report.

Daily: Prints a summary of the work you've entered and printed
so far during the current session.

We'll cover each of these options in more detail below.

          ALIGNING THE FORMS

Before you do any printing, the first thing you need to do is to
align the first form in the printer. Once the first form is
aligned, all subsequent forms will be printed out correctly.
Remember that you should expect to waste a form or two when
you're first doing the alignment. But after you've used TFP
Software for a while, you'll know where to position the form and
probably won't need to do the alignment.

Load the forms in your printer and turn it on.

NOTE: Nearly all printers have a ruler scale on their
bail (the hinged bar with rollers that holds the paper
against the rubber roller). Other printers have the
scale or just a notch embossed on the plastic paper
holder. Most times, you'll find that if you line up
the tear-off edge of the form with the "1" position of
the rule scale, the left-to-right alignment of the form
               will be correct.

When you're in the on-screen form, press [ESC] to get the menu
line, and type [P] to get the PRINT menu. Then press [A] for
          "Align".

You'll see a message instructing you to load the Forms into your
printer. When you load the forms and press [ENTER], a "=== LINE

                                        -19-

UP ===" message will be printed on the forms followed by several
          lines of "X" characters.

If the LINE UP message was printed correctly on form line number
1, press [Y]. You'll then be asked if you want to print the
          current form now

If the printing on the form isn't properly aligned vertically (up
and down), press [N]. You'll see a message telling you to
position the bar where the words === LINE UP === appear on your
form and press [ENTER]. For example, if your printer prints the
words === LINE UP === on line 4 of your form then you should move
the cursor bar to line 4 on the screen and press [ENTER]. TFP
Software will advance your form the appropriate number of lines
so that the forms will be printed correctly. You'll then see a
message asking if you want to print the current form now.

If the printing on the form isn't aligned correctly horizontally
(left to right), do one of the following: (if you have a moveable
tractor feed printer - if not see Appendix A, Printer Offset, for
          fixed tractor printers)

Print is too far Reposition the form
to the left. horizontally by moving
                                                  it slightly to the left.

Print to too far Reposition the form
to the right. horizontally by moving
                                                  it slightly to the right.

Print is OK on Printer pitch setting is
the left side, but incorrect. Readjust the
doesn't reach the printer pitch to 10
right side correctly. characters per inch.

NOTE: Most printers automatically print at 10
characters per inch. If yours doesn't, you'll need to
set it. Consult your printer manual or the dealer
where you purchased the printer. If you get stuck,
call software support at 1-(805) 484-8081.

          PRINTING FORMS

After you've aligned the forms on your printer, the next step is
to have the forms printed. Once you've been entering information
into forms for a while, you'll have quite a few forms stored on
disk. But in most cases you'll only want to print the forms that
haven't been printed yet. If you want to print only the forms
you've entered during your current work session, you'll need to
move to the first form you've entered before you can print. You
can do this in two ways:

                 1. If you've entered just a few forms, use [F1] or [ALT]-
[P] to move back to the first you've entered.

                 2. After a full day of entering many forms, scanning
backwards as above isn't really practical. It's

                                        -20-

handier to use TFP Software's SEARCH option to find the
first form you've entered that day.

Choose the PRINT option from the menu line, then choose PRINT
again. You'll see a message telling you to load the appropriate
forms into the printer. Just press [ENTER] and the forms will
          start to print.

          REPRINTING FORMS

TFP Softwares gives you the option of reprinting a single form, a
group of forms, or all the forms you've stored on a disk.

If you only want to reprint a single form, you should have it in
front of you on the screen before you choose the PRINT option.
Use the SEARCH option on the menu line to find the form. (See
"Searching for Forms" elsewhere in this manual.)

To reprint forms, choose the PRINT option from the menu line and
then REPRINT. You'll be asked if you want to print all the forms
you've stored away, all the forms from the current position to
the end, or the single form that you have on the screen. If you
only want to print the single on-screen form, press [O]. If you
want to print all the forms in your electronic file cabinet,
press [A]. Or if you want to print all forms from the on-screen
form to the end, press [H]. Then follow the directions on the
          screen.

          PRINTING A DAILY INPUT REPORT

TFP Software keeps a "history" of forms as you print them. When
you're done printing forms for the day, you can print a daily
input report for the session by choosing the DAILY option from
the PRINT sub-menu. Don't forget to remove the forms from your
printer and load in plain paper.

                  - The daily input report only lists the content of the
forms that you've printed during the current session.
It doesn't show forms that haven't been printed, forms
that you've reprinted, or forms from previous session.

                  - The information contained in the log has been pre-
formatted for each type of form to contain the most-
useful information and can't be changed.

IMPORTANT: If you want to print a log, you must do so
before you quit TFP Software. Once you've quit the
program, all daily input report information for your
                    session is lost.

                                 WORKING WITH MACROS

          -----------------------------------------------------------------

Macros are one of TFP Software's most-powerful features.
Although you might not be familiar with the term "macros", think
of it as a shortcut; a series of keystrokes you've stored away
and can later recall with a single keystroke. TFP Software's
macro feature lets you store away up to nine frequently-used
names and addresses, ID numbers, figures or command sequences (a
maximum of 240 characters each) that you can recall at any time
          by pressing a key.

It's a fact that TFP Software's macros can save you lots of time
because it eliminates repeated typing of the same words, phrases,
or figures on forms over and over again. After all, the aim of
TFP Software is to help you fill out forms quickly.

The quickest way to illustrate just how macros work is to show
you the sample we've included on your TFP Software disk.

                 1. Move the cursor to the EMPLOYER: or PAYER: field of
                    your form.

                 2. Type the [ALT]-[1]

                 3. As you see, the words "your name, your address, your
city and state" are filled into the correct position on
the form. Notice too that the macro "knows" when to
return and start a new line.

Any macro you create can be saved on your TFP Software disk and
assigned to an individual [ALT]-number key. And from then on,
anytime you press that key, it'll automatically fill in with what
you stored. They can be used anywhere on an form. And because
you can store your macros away on the TFP Software disk, they'll
be there waiting for you each time you use TFP Software. You
don't have to re-enter macros each time you use TFP Software.

Anything you type (even spaces, punctuation, the [ENTER] key and
function keys) up to 240 characters long can be memorized and
saved by TFP Software so that you can recall it and fill in the
          form whenever you need it.

Here are some examples of the type of things you can store in a
          macro:

                 - Federal or State ID numbers

                 - Company or Employer names

                      ABC Company
                      1234 Main St.

          STORING YOUR OWN MACROS

Now that you see how macros work and how useful they can be,
let's see how you can create your own. TFP Software will
"memorize" the contents of a macro as you fill in the associated
field on your form up to a maximum of 240 characters per macro.

It's important to remember a few points before we start:

                  - Even though TFP Software will automatically memorize
keystrokes, you must tell it when to both start and
                    stop the memorization process.

                  - If you want to be able to use the same macros every
time you use TFP Software, you must tell the software
to save your macros. Otherwise, they'll be lost when
you quit TFP Software or turn off your computer.

                  - If you're unhappy with your macros or your macro needs
change, you can change any or all of your nine macros
                    at any time.

                  - You can only store away nine macros on a single TFP
Software disk, no matter how many forms you use on the
                    single disk.

Although you can enter information directly on the macro menu, by
far the easiest way to create macros is to have TFP Software
memorize them as you're actually filling out a form. Let's
replace the sample macro we've provided with an actual macro that
you can use in your day-to-day work. Follow these steps:

                 1. Move the cursor to the beginning (first character) of
the EMPLOYER: or PAYER: field. We will replace the
first macro with your company name and address.

                 2. Press: [ALT]-[M]

                 3. Press the number of the macro you want to memorize.
(In this case, we're using number 1.) You'll be
returned to the form and the word MEMORIZING will be
highlighted at the top of the screen. As long as
MEMORIZING is shown, every character you type (space,
tab, return, even a correction) is recorded into the
macro until you stop the memorization process (see
                    below).

                 4. Type the information you want stored in the macro in
exactly the same way you normally fill in the form.
Press [ENTER] at the end of each line. It you make any
mistakes, backspace to erase them and make corrections
                    in the normal manner.

NOTE: When you're memorizing a macro, you're not
limited to a single field or section, if you want your
macro to keep going, just keep filling out the form.
The only limit is that the macro can't be more than 240
characters. You'll know if you've exceeded 240 because

                                        -23-

the MEMORIZING message will disappear from the screen
                    and the program will beep.

                 5. When you're done entering all the characters that you
want in your macro, you need to tell TFP Software to
stop memorizing. You use the same key you used to
                    start the memorization process, [ALT]-[M].

To stop the memorization process, press: [ALT]-[M].
The MEMORIZING message will disappear from the top of
                    the screen.

From this point on, all you need to do is press the
correct [ALT]-number key to perform the macro. (Refer
                    to "Using Macros").

          SAVING MACROS

If you have created any macros while using TFP Software, the
program will remind you to save them permanently to your program
disk before you quit the program.

NOTE: Even though we said your macros will be saved
"permanently", remember you can change them at any time. But
remember to save them to disk after you make changes.

          USING MACROS

We use the term "perform" for TFP Software's ability to use the
macros you've stored away. When you want TFP Software to perform
a macro, move the cursor to the appropriate field where you want
the information from the macro to be filled in. Then all you
need to do is press the corresponding macro function key.

Press the [ALT] and number key whose number corresponds to the
appropriate macro (e.g., [ALT]-[2] for macro number 2).

          FINDING MACROS

If you've stored away all nine possible TFP Software macros, you
might have forgotten which macro is stored in which number. To
see a list of the macros and use them directly, follow these
          steps:

                 1. With the cursor in the field where you want the macro
to fill in information, press [ESC] to go to the menu
                    line.

                 2. Press [M] to enter the macro menu.

                 3. Use your up and down arrow keys to move the cursor to
the macro you want to perform.

                 4. Press [ENTER] to select the macro number.

                 5. Press [P] to perform the macro

APPENDIX A - THE CONFIGURATION MENU

To get to the configuration menu:

                 1. Press [ESC] to go to the menu line.

                 2. Press [C].

NOTE: In most cases, you won't need to change any of
these options. (If you think you need to make a
change, and aren't sure about it, call software support
                    at 1-(805) 484-8081

Here's a summary of the choices and what they mean:

Show $ sign: This option tells TFP Software whether you want a
dollar sign ($) automatically entered in dollar-amount fields.
You might use this option when you need more space for larger
numbers in number fields. Turning the dollar sign off gives you
          an extra digit.

Show Cents: This tells TFP Software whether you want to show
cents in the dollar amounts you enter in dollar-amount fields.
This is another option you might use if you need to display
really large whole numbers; eliminating the cents display will
give you three extra digit spaces. If you choose not to show
cents, TFP Software will automatically round to an even amount.

NOTE: TFP Software will calculate all totals using your exact
amount (including cents value, if any) and only round off the
final sum or total amount. In this way, if you first select not
to show cents, and then decide to include cents after calculating
your forms, TFP Software will have "remembered" the "real" amount
so you won't have to recalculate.

          On-Screen Help: None-Typing-Filing
This option tells TFP Softwares whether or not you want the help
line at the bottom of your screen. The help line can display the
          typing or filing key commands.

Printer offset: This handy feature is for use with fixed-pin
printers that have problems using preprinted forms because the
forms tractor feed position can't be shifted to the left or
right. This option tells TFP Software how many spaces from the
left edge to start printing. The default is 0 spaces - the way
most printers will work. But you can set this option to start up
to three spaces from the edge.

Printer Width: In some cases, printers cannot print more than 85
characters across. In this case, you must insert the number of
spaces the printer can print on one line. We suggest that you
only change this number if you notice that the printer carries
the end of one line to the beginning of the next line.

Paper Feed: Sheet Continuous: This option is automatically set
for continuous forms. If you ever need to use single-sheet
          forms, change this option.

Setup String: This option defines the software codes that are
sent to your printer every time you print a form. Most of the
time, you won't need to make any changes in the setup string.
One example is if you're using a dot-matrix printer that can
produce higher-quality printing. If you want to use the higher-
quality printing, you'll need to send your printer the command
          that switches it to high-quality.

IMPORTANT: Setup strings affect the whole form. For example,
you can't selectively choose to underline or bold print a portion
of a form. Sending the setup string to do this to your printer
would cause the entire form to be underlined or bold.

Since the details of the printer setup strings are technical and
vary widely, check your printer manual.

Press CTRL-S To Save Configuration. The configuration will
always be saved when you leave TFP Software. If you like, you
may also save it now by pressing [CTRL]-[S].
