of an ASCII text file "printing to disk" and
will assign a .prn extension to the resulting
file. Be sure to select the widest right
margin as possible (240) and "unformatted"
before printing to disk with such spreadsheet

Note: If you get the error message

        "Sideways Print Not Available"

It is because your printer does not have bit
image graphics or variable line spacing
commands. Almost all printers supported by
 AlpsMate have sideways pinting.

       Redirect All Output OFF/LPT1...

 AlpsMate will redirect all subsequent
printer output to any selected port (LPT1-3
or COM1,2). This feature is not compatible
with DOS Mode commands (you shouldn't need
DOS Mode commands with AlpsMate). For modem
transmissions, this feature should be OFF.

 Redirect All Output OFF
Use this setting in order for all programs to
print normally to the port they are installed
to. This setting will also avoid interference
with communications programs using a modem on
either serial port, COM1 or COM2.

AlpsMate macro and printer reset commands
will work as described with this feature OFF.

 Notes:

 1) If you redirect printer output to the
same port AlpsMate is setup for, then all
the AlpsMate functions remain unchanged and
all printer output from other programs, will
be redirected to the selected port.

 2) If output is redirected to another port,
other than the one AlpsMate is setup for,
then AlpsMate will not send the printer
profile codes when you exit AlpsMate. This
allows redirection to any printers for which
AlpsMate is not setup. In the same sense,
 AlpsMate will only interpret user-defined
and standard (Form feed, Line feed and C.R.)
macros. This makes it more convenient to use
 user-defined printer drivers (Codes menu).
 Example:
Let us suppose you had AlpsMate setup for
LPT1, supporting your dot-matrix printer, but
you wanted to have AlpsMate redirect all
printer output to your daisy-wheel on COM1.
By redirecting all output to COM1, you would
be "telling AlpsMate" not to send any codes
related to the dot-matrix printer on LPT1.
However, AlpsMate could still interpret all
 standard and user-defined macros.

         Printer Reset Filter ON/OFF

Turn this feature ON/OFF in order to
 disable/enable all subsequent reset
 (initialization) signals sent by application
programs to your printer. This feature should
be set OFF prior to any graphics output or
downloading of soft fonts to your printer.

 Printer Reset Filter ON
This feature should be set ON in order to
insure that all AlpsMate global commands
(see User's Guide) will remain in effect
 before printing by application programs.

 Printer Reset Filter OFF
This feature should be set OFF in order for
AlpsMate to be compatible with any graphics
 output or soft font downloading.

               AM Code File name

All user-defined control codes (from the
Codes menu) are saved in the AM Code file.
AlpsMate is packaged with this file named as
AMCODES.DAT. However, you may change to a
different control code file name at any time.
AlpsMate always refers to the file name
 which is currently displayed.

 Example:
If you wanted to save some codes for your
daisy-wheel printer, you might name a code
data file, DAISY.DAT. AlpsMate will create
the file, in the current AM Directory, the
first time a Control Code is saved (see the
 Codes menu).
>144

               Profile File name

AlpsMate stores all profile data in the
profile data file which is currently
displayed. This file name may be set up
using the AMSETUP.COM program, or you may
change the profile data file name at any
time. AlpsMate will always refer to the
 currently displayed file name.
>145

                 AM Directory

AlpsMate will refer to this directory for
all AlpsMate files. This directory may be
set up in the AMSETUP.COM program, or you
may change the directory name at any time.
AlpsMate will always refer to the currently
 displayed directory.
