Thank you for purchasing Fantastic Recall, Auto-Resume for Windows.
*******************************************************************

This file is provided for our users so that they may be kept informed
regarding any changes or additions to the Fantastic Recall software.
This document also contains corrections and additions to the manual,
and provides information regarding the use of Fantastic Recall in
various configurations. We recommend that you review this document
before installing Fantastic Recall and that you use it along with the
included manual and help file to resolve any technical issues that may
arise.

----------------
CACHING SOFTWARE
----------------

Fantastic Recall is compatible with the following disk caching software:

Cache-86, version 4.0
FAST, version 4.1
Hyperdisk Norton Cache, NCACHE only, version 6.01
PC-Cache, version 8.0
Super PC-Kwik, version 5.01
Smartdrive, SMARTDRV.EXE, version 4.0, 4.1, 4.2

During the installation of Fantastic Recall, your system will be checked
for caching software. If our detection process does not identify a
software cache, you will be presented with a list of supported caches
and an option to end the installation. When you have confirmed that you
are not running an unsupported software cache, continue with the
installation. Hardware caches are fully supported by Fantastic Recall
and should not be disabled.

We strongly recommend against using Fantastic Recall with an unsupported
software cache because it may result in possible data loss. Therefore,
please call Binar Graphics Technical Support at (415) 492-8161 if the
installation program detects that you have an unsupported software cache
in order to verify support.

----------------------------------
CHANGING YOUR SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
----------------------------------

If you add memory, modify your AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS file, or
install new software on your system, you should use the Fantastic Recall
command line option FR /W to remove the old image file and create a new
one. See pages 8 to 12 in your Fantastic Recall User Manual for specific
instructions.

--------------------
COMPRESSION SOFTWARE
--------------------

Fantastic Recall will operate with most disk compression software;
however, the image file can NOT be located on the compressed drive.

Please install Fantastic Recall on a non-compressed portion of your hard
disk.

---------------
DEFRAGMENTATION
---------------

Disk defragmentation will corrupt Fantastic Recall's image file. We
recommend that you save all of your open files and then use a Windows
Exit or Quick Exit to exit to the DOS level before performing a disk
defragmentation. This will invalidate the Fantastic Recall image file,
preparing your system for a new session when you restart Windows.
Please use the FR /W command when restarting Windows after a disk
defragmentation.

---------------
MEMORY MANAGERS
---------------

Listed below are specific notes for using Fantastic Recall with Memory
Managers:

All Memory Managers -- Any option to relocate the ROM BIOS should be
disabled when using Fantastic Recall.

386MAX, Version 7 -- The EMS=0 and EXT=XXXX 386MAX options are not
available when using Fantastic Recall.

QEMM -- Fantastic Recall supports QEMM Version 6.XX and below. This
release does not support QEMM 7.XX.

Netroom 3.00 -- The default System BIOS Cloaking option must be set to
Off when using Fantastic Recall. To turn this feature off in Netroom
3.0, you must remove the statement DEVICE=SYSCLOAK.EXE from the
CONFIG.SYS file and the SYSTEMROMBREAKPOINT=False from the Windows
SYSTEM.INI file.

--------
NETWORKS
--------

Fantastic Recall supports Novell NetWare version 3.11. Fantastic
Recall is fully compatible with IPX, NETX, IPXODI and the LSL
combinations of drivers. For security reasons, your system must be
configured such that you are logged onto the network before you restore
your Windows session with Fantastic Recall.

Users of Windows on client/server networks have the option of installing
Windows to a shared directory on the server. This reduces the number
of files installed on each local hard disk. Because Fantastic Recall
may need to modify or replace "read-only" files on the server, it is
recommended that the system administrator install Fantastic Recall.

a) Instructions for installing Fantastic Recall to a client
local disk that is running Windows from a network:

	1. Add a SYSTEM directory to the local Windows
	    directory.

	2. Install Fantastic Recall with the SETUP command
and follow the manual's instructions for instal-
	    lation.

	3. When the install program prompts if you wish to
restart Windows, select the "No" option.

	4. Copy the file in the newly created SYSTEM directory
	    to the local Windows directory.

	5. Delete the local SYSTEM directory and it's
	    contents.

b) Instructions for installing Fantastic Recall to a diskless
workstation running Windows from the Server.

Please review the Fantastic Recall license agreement before
installing the program. You must have a license for each
copy of Fantastic Recall you install.

	1. Add a SYSTEM directory to the local Windows directory.

	2. Install Fantastic Recall with the SETUP command and
follow the manual's instructions for installation.

	3. When the install program prompts if you wish to restart
	    Windows, select the "No" option.

	4. Copy the file in the newly created SYSTEM directory to
the SYSTEM directory on the network server.

NOTE: If you are using a DOS window while on a network, Fantastic
Recall will prompt you to close any active DOS sessions. The save
can not continue until all such DOS sessions have been closed.

Windows for Workgroups -- This version of Fantastic Recall does not
support Windows for Workgroups. Please ensure that you fill out the
Network Questionnaire Card included in your package.

-----------------------------------------
OPTIONS/ENTRIES IN THE [FRECALL.INI] FILE
-----------------------------------------

[SkipQuery]
This option is used to inform Fantastic Recall of the programs that
should not be notified during a save when the Save Files on Exit option
is on. On a new line under this heading, type:

       FILEx=Filename

where x equals the next entry number and Filename is the name of the
executable program.

[CloseOnExit]
This option is used to close applications before beginning the save
(and re-open after a restore). To make a new entry, type:

       FILEx=Filename Parameters

where x equals the next entry number, Filename is the name of the
executable program and Parameters is the name of any parameters you may
want Fantastic Recall to invoke when restarting the application.

NOTE: If a program is "launched" by another, the second program must
be shut down and the "launching" program restarted. This would be
typed as:

       FILEx=Filename /$+ Launchname Parameters

where x equals the next entry number, Filename is the name of the
executable program, Launchname is the name of the "launching" program
and Parameters is the name of any parameters you may want Fantastic
Recall to invoke when restarting the application. An example of this
scenario is that CCMAIL.EXE is launched by another program called
WMAIL.EXE. The entry would be entered in as follows:

       FILEx=CCMAIL.EXE /$+ WMAIL.EXE

[WaitOnExit]
This option goes along with CloseOnExit for certain applications to
make sure all related programs are closed before beginning the save.
Type on a new line under this heading:

       FILEx=Filename

where x equals the next entry number and Filename is the name of the
executable program.

Example: MSMAIL.EXE has a parallel program named MAILSPL.EXE that must
shut down before Fantastic Recall should begin the save. The entry
would be typed as follows:

       FILEx=MAILSPL.EXE

Fantastic Recall will then wait until this program has closed before
beginning the save.

All other sections in FRECALL.INI are automatically maintained.

------------------
WINDOWS SWAP FILES
------------------

While Fantastic Recall is fully compatible with a Windows temporary
swap file or no swap file at all, we strongly recommend using a
"permanent swap file." If your Windows configuration does not have a
permanent swap file enabled, you can activate it by double clicking
the "386 Enhanced" icon in the "Virtual Memory" section of the
"Control Panel."

Please see your Windows User Manual for more information.

NOTE: Your Windows performance will be greatly enhanced by using a
"Permanent Swap File."
