  BEFORE INSTALLING THE DDDK

  1. IMPORTANT: If Microsoft Windows is installed in a write-protected network
directory, a person with write privileges to the Windows directory must install
       this product.

  2. Review the Product Release Notes, if any, for special instructions pertaining to
       the installation of this product.

  3. Be sure that no Powersoft product is running.

  TO INSTALL THE DDDK

  1. Insert the diskette labeled "Disk 1 of 2" into the floppy drive of your computer.

  2. Run the SETUP program on the diskette. You can do this in one of three ways.
(This example uses Drive A, however, your floppy drive may be a different letter.)

           * From the DOS prompt, type: WIN A:\SETUP
           * From Windows Program Manager, choose File/Run and type: A:\SETUP
           * From Windows File Manager, double-click on the SETUP.EXE file on Drive A.

  3. Below is a brief description of what is installed when you make your selections:

           * Powersoft Deployment Kit: Files necessary for you to run your
PowerBuilder executable files. When you make this selection, the
Database Interface files required to run your executables are also installed
in the target directory. Therefore, you do not need to install the Powersoft
Database Interface selection when installing the Deployment Kit.
           * Powersoft Database Interface: Files necessary for you to connect to
your specific database within the PowerBuilder Development
environment. You should always install Database Interface files
               in your PowerBuilder directory.

  4. The installation procedure will prompt you:

           * When the procedure needs the next diskette or more information, or when
it requires a decision to change or replace files. Respond to the prompts
               and select options as appropriate.

           * When the procedure is ready to update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. You can
choose to let the installation procedure change the existing file, create a
new file for you, or proceed without making any file changes. Your
AUTOEXEC.BAT is not modified when installing only the Database Interface.

  5. Exit to DOS and verify that the Powersoft DDDK directory(s) is included
in your DOS PATH command. This will happen automatically if you let the
installation procedure update your AUTOEXEC.BAT file in the previous step.
The DOS path is not modified when installing the Database Interface files
because they should be installed in your existing PowerBuilder directory.

  6. Re-boot your PC and start Windows.
