                     INSTALLATION PROBLEM RESOLUTION
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This section identifies solutions to problems that can occur during the
installation of QuickVerse.

1. If you are using a color grapics card and a monochrome monitor, such as
is commonly used in laptop computers, you may find it difficult to read
the instructions displayed during the installation. If so, start the
INSTALL program using the "bw" option. Type

                INSTALL BW

2. If, after installing and starting QuickVerse 2.0, a message similar to

Insert xxxxx Disk in drive C:

then it is likely that the statment FILES=20 is missing from the
CONFIG.SYS file. This statement specifies how many data files DOS is
allowed to manage at a time. We recommend that the number of files be
    set to at least 30.

If the FILES statement is missing from the CONFIG.SYS file, then two
solutions are available: (1) add FILES=20 to the current CONFIG.SYS file,
or (2) replace the CONFIG.SYS file with the CONFIG.SYS file supplied on
the installation disk. Then reboot the computer and start QuickVerse
    again.

If the CONFIG.SYS file already contains a FILES=20 statement, then
increase the value of this statement. Reboot the computer after making
the change to allow the change to take effect.

On certain TANDY computers, it may be necessary to modify the system
parameters to cause the CONFIG.SYS file on the boot disk to be read.
Consult your TANDY owner's manual for more details.

3. If you are installing from 3 inch disks and after inserting the 'Program
Disk' at the appropriate time, a message similar to

Unable to open input file: A:\QV2.LIB
Do you want to Retry or Abort (R/A)?

is displayed, then you are attempting to install and "old" format Program
Disk with a "new" format Installation Disk. Contact Parsons Technology
Technical Support to obtain the correct disks.

4. If, during the installation, one of the following messages is displayed,

A comment beginning on line XXX has swallowed the
                entrire script file.

    or

A syntax error has occurred on line XXX. Y was
                expected but Z was found.

Then it is likely that the installation disk was removed at an improper
time. Repeat the installation, being sure not to exchange disks until
prompted to. Do not exchange disks when prompted to make a selection.

5. If, while installing the Hebrew and Greek Transliterated Bible from 3
inch disks, the installation program prompts for the Dictionary Disk 3
disk to be inserted, then you incorrectly selected "installing from 5
inch disk" earlier during the installation. Abort the installation and
start over, being sure to select 3 inch disks when prompted.

6. If you are installing to a Bernoulli drive, or other type of removable
hard disk, and a message similar to

If you have not already done so, please label a blank
formatted disk "QuickVerse 2.0 Working Disk #1".

After the disk is labeled, please replace the disk in
drive C: with the disk "QuickVerse 2.0 Working Disk #1".

appears, then a file called DISK.ID exists in the root directory of the
Bernoulli disk. Delete this file and restart the installation. You will
need to check for this file, and delete it if necessary, each time that
you want to start the installation.

7. If, when installing to a hard disk, the installation process completed
without ever requiring the Bible and Concordance disks to be inserted,
then the installation program was unable to locate a copy of COMMAND.COM.
This generally happens if you booted from a floppy disk, if the file
COMMAND.COM is not located in the root directory of the hard drive, or if
there is not a valid PATH or COMSPEC to the file COMMAND.COM.

To correct this problem, you may ensure that there is a valid path to the
COMMAND.COM file and then repeat the installation. Or, you may choose to
execute the QuickVerse Load program to complete the remainder of the
installation. The following example shows how to use the QuickVerse Load
    program to complete the installation.

Note that this example assumes that you are installing from floppy drive
A: to the C:\QV2 directory on your hard disk. Other drive and directory
designations may be substituted for these. Additionally, this example
assumes that the King James Version is being installed. To install a
different translation, substitute the appropriate code from the list
    below.

                KJV King James Version
                NKJV New King James Version
                NIV New International Version
                RSV Revised Standard Version
                NRSV New Revised Standard Version
                TLB The Living Bible
                NCV New Century Version
HG Hebrew and Greek Transliterated Bible

To complete the installation, type the following:

                C:
                CD \QV2
                QVLOAD A: C:\QV2 KJV

8. If, after inserting the 'Bible 1' disk at the appropriate time, a message
    similar to

Invalid disk change reading drive A
Please insert volume QV INS Vxx serial xxxxx
                Abort, Retry, Fail?

is displayed, then there is a conflict between the installation program
    and the DOS SHARE command.

To complete the installation, the SHARE command should be disabled or
removed from the file and the computer should be turned off or rebooted.
Then the installation process should be repeated. After the installation
is complete, the SHARE command can be added back into the CONFIG.SYS or
    AUTOEXEC.BAT file, if desired.

9. If a "packed file is corrupted" error is reported when the installation
program is started, then there is a conflict between DOS 5.0 and the
installation program. It is unlikely that the installation disk is
truly corrupted as indicated by the message. To complete the
installation, start the installation by typing

                A:
                LOADFIX INSTALL

    instead of

                A:
                INSTALL

LOADFIX is a program supplied by Microsoft with MS-DOS 5.0 to correct
    such conflicts.

                                  ERRATA
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This section identifies changes and corrections to the User Guide that you
should make note of. If you have a newer edition of the User Guide, these
changes might already be reflected in your edition.

Appendix A, page A-2, Notes section:
Add "view first note shift-home" and "view last note shift-end" to the
list of shortcut keys. These keys can be used to immediately view the
first and last note in a verse.
QuickVerse Companion Supplement, page 6, paragraph 1:
The QuickVerse Companion requires approximately 160K of RAM during normal
operation and 168K of RAM for graphics mode operation, instead of the 170K
    and 178K listed.
QuickVerse Companion Supplement, page 7, paragraph 5:
Add "/L Use laptop color set" to the list of command line options. This
option can be used to change the default color set to be more appropriate
when an LCD or other laptop display is in use.
QuickVerse Companion Supplement, page 18, paragraph 2:
Add "aP Paste all verses /PA" to the list of shortcut keys.

It should also be noted that the keys used to view notes written for an
English translation are also applicable when using the Hebrew and Greek
dictionary displayed beneath the Hebrew and Greek Transliteration. That is,
use the shift-right and shift-left keys to move the word highlight to view
other definitions.

                           NEW MOUSE FEATURES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Versions 2.10 and later of QuickVerse add two new mouse features. Interaction
with the pull-down menus now uses two different styles. "Drag-style" as
documented in the User Guide is still supplied. Using this style, you drag
the menu down by holding the mouse button down while moving the mouse down off
of the title bar. This style is similar to the style used by the Macintosh
computer. Now, "click-style" is also supplied. To select an item from the
menu, you may now click on the menu title to cause the menu to be displayed.
Then click on the menu item to select.

You may now also click directly on a word to highlight it, and then display
any corresponding note or definition. This is especially useful when you want
to select an English word in the King James Version and see the corresponding
word in the Hebrew and Greek Transliterated Bible.

A NOTE ON 43- AND 50-LINE DISPLAY MODES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As mentioned on pages 17 and 82 of the User Guide, QuickVerse 2.0 supports the
43-line display mode provided by the EGA and VGA, and the 50-line display mode
provided by the VGA. If you use one of these modes, and your monitor display
loses its vertical hold (similar to when the picture on a TV screen keeps
rolling off the top or bottom or appears distorted), it may be necessary for
you to use the DOS MODE command to configure your computer for 43- or 50-line
mode operation. Consult your DOS manual for further information.

Also, earlier versions of the Microsoft Mouse driver contain a software bug
that causes the mouse to not work properly with the 43- and 50-line display
modes. If the mouse cursor does not move into the lower portion of the
screen, you need to obtain a new version of the mouse driver from Microsoft or
your computer dealer. The two drivers listed below are known to work
correctly in the extended line display modes:

        Version 7 09-01-89 12:00
        Windows 3.0 05-01-90 03:00
        Windows 3.1 03-10-92 03:10

Microsoft compatible mouse drivers (including trackball drivers) may contain
similar errors. To correct the problem, obtain the newest software driver.

Please note that some mouse and trackball vendors may not support the
extended display modes provided by the EGA and VGA. In these cases, it will
simply not be possible for you to access the lower portion of the screen.
While we would like to help you, this is a limitation of your mouse driver,
not a limitation of QuickVerse.

                       THE LIVING BIBLE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to the unique paragraph structure of The Living Bible, the presentation of
the text in verse format results in some verse numbers not having any
associated text. These are called "blank" verses. The file BLANKS.TXT
contained on Concordance Disk 3 contains additional information.

COPYING YOUR ORIGINAL DISKS TO DIFFERENT DISK SIZES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following guidelines should be used if you find it necessary to copy your
original distribution disks to floppy disks of a different size. If you don't
plan on doing this, you may skip this section.

The Best Solution:
------------------

The best solution is to make 1 copy for each disk. Do not attempt to copy
multiple original disks to one new disk. For instance, to copy your 5"
original disks to new 3" disks, copy each 5" disks to a new 3"
disk. When you're complete, you should have one new disk for each original
disk.

In order to copy from 3" disks to 5" disks using this method, you will
need to use high density 5" disks.

When performing the installation, if you are prompted to select which size
disk you are installing from, select the size of the original disks, not the
new disks that you are actually installing from.

More detail is provided in the sections below.

Copying 5" Disks to 3" Disks:
-------------------------------

1. Copy the 5" Installation Disk to one new 3" disks. Label the new disk
    "Installation Disk."

2. Copy the 5" Program Disk to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Program Disk."

3. Copy the 5" Data Disk to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Data Disk."

4. Copy the 5" Bible Disk 1 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Bible Disk 1."

5. Copy the 5" Bible Disk 2 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Bible Disk 2."

6. Copy the 5" Bible Disk 3 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Bible Disk 3."

7. Copy the 5" Bible Disk 4 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Bible Disk 4."

8. Copy the 5" Concordance Disk 1 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Concordance Disk 1."

9. Copy the 5" Concordance Disk 2 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Concordance Disk 2."

10. If this version contains a Concordance Disk 3, then copy the 5"
Concordance Disk 3 to one new 3" disk. Label the new disk
    "Concordance Disk 3."

11. Use the 3" Installation Disk to install the new 3" disks. If prompted,
select that you are installing from 5" disks even though you are
    using 3" disks.

Copying 3" Disks to 5" High-Density Disks:
--------------------------------------------

1. Copy the 3" Installation Disk to one new 5" disk. A low-density disk
may be used. Label the new disk "Installation Disk."

2. Copy the 3" Program Disk to one new high-density 5" disk. Label the
    new disk "Program Disk."

3. Copy the 3" Bible Disk 1&2 disk to one new high-density 5" disk.
Label the new disk "Bible Disk 1&2."

4. Copy the 3" Bible Disk 3&4 disk to one new high-density 5" disk.
Label the new disk "Bible Disk 3&4."

5. Copy the 3" Concordance Disk 1&2 disk to one new high-density 5" disk.
Label the new disk "Concordance Disk 1&2."

6. If a 3" Concordance Disk 3 disk is included, copy that disk to one new
high-density 5" disk. Label the new disk "Concordance Disk 3."

7. Use the 5" Installation Disk to install the new 5" disks. If prompted,
select that you are installing from 3" disks even though you are using
    5" disks.

Copying 3" Disks to 5" Low-Density Disks:
-------------------------------------------

1. Copy the 3" Installation Disk to one new 5" disk. Label the new disk
    "Installation Disk."

2. Copy the following two files from the 3" Program Disk to one 5" disk:

                DISK.ID
                QV2.LIB

Label the new disk "Program Disk." Then copy the following ten files
from the 3" Program Disk to another 5" disk:

                DISK.ID
                BIBLE.HLP
                PRINTERS.DAT
                BIBLE.CFG
                BIBLE.IDX
                BOOKS.DAT
                WORDS.DAT
                USERID.DAT
                CONCORD.IDX
                BIBLE.MAP

Label this second disk "Program Disk, continued." (Note -- for some
translations, it may be necessary to copy the 1 3 inch disk to three
5 inch disks, instead of the two shown here. Just keep copying files
until all files above have been copied. Put a DISK.ID file on each new
disk. This will be necessary for versions such as The Living Bible
    which contain larger data files.)

3. Copy the BIBLE1 file from the 3" Bible 1&2 disk to a 5" inch disk.
Label the new disk "Bible 1." Copy the BIBLE2 file from the same 3"
disk to another 5" disk. Label this second disk "Bible 2."

4. Copy the BIBLE3 file from the 3" Bible 3&4 disk to a 5" inch disk.
Label the new disk "Bible 3." Copy the BIBLE4 file from the same 3"
disk to another 5" disk. Label this second disk "Bible 4."

5. Copy the CONCORD1 file from the 3" Concordance 1&2 disk to a 5"
inch disk. Label the new disk "Concordance 1." Copy the CONCORD2 file
from the same 3" disk to another 5" disk. Label this second disk
    "Concordance 2."

6. If this version has a Concordance 3 Disk, copy the CONCORD3 file from that
disk to a 5" disk. Label the new disk "Concordance 3."

7. Use the 5" Installation Disk to install using these new disks.
Select that you are installing from 3" disks even though you are
using 5" disks. Additionally, expect a message similar to the following
    to be displayed:

Unable to open input file: A:\BIBLE.CFG
Do you want to Retry or Abort (R/A)?

When this message is displayed, replace the Program Disk in the floppy
disk drive with the new disk labeled "Program Disk, continued", then
press the R key. The remainder of the installation should proceed
    normally.

The Hebrew and Greek Transliterated Bible
-----------------------------------------

The Hebrew and Greek Transliterated Bible can be copied to a different disk
size, but each disk must be copied to a new, blank disk. Do not combine or
split the original disks. This means that to copy from 3" disks to 5"
disks, high-density 5" disks must be used.

When performing the installation, if you are prompted to select which size
disk you are installing from, select the size of the original disks, not the
new disks that you are actually installing from.

Contact Parsons Technology Technical Support to exchange your 3" original
disks for 5" low-density replacements.

                 QUICKVERSE COMPANION APPLICATION NOTES
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: The remainder of this README file contains information specific to the
QuickVerse Companion. If you don't plan on using the QuickVerse Companion,
you don't need to read this information. Just press the ESC key now to quit.

This section provides some additional information related to using the
QuickVerse Companion with specific word processors. Obviously, you won't need
to know all of this information, however it is provided for the benefit of all
of our customers. If you plan on using the QuickVerse Companion, we suggest
that you briefly scan though this information, paying particular attention to
any suggestions regarding your word processor.

Deskmate (by Tandy)
-------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is generally NOT compatible with the Deskmate word
processor, or any other Deskmate application.

Leading Edge Word Processor version 1.3a
----------------------------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is compatible with the Leading Edge Word Processor.
However, as discussed in the Leading Edge manual, it may be necessary to press
Ctrl-Esc before the QuickVerse Companion can be used. If the QuickVerse
Companion does not respond to its hot keys, try pressing Ctrl-Esc before the
hot key.

Multimate Advantage version 3.6
-------------------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is compatible with the Multimate Word Processor. No
start-up options are required. However, due to the way that Multimate
processes keyboard input, you may find that the Paste operations can not type
into your document as quickly as they can type into other word processors.

PC-Write version 3.02
---------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is entirely compatible with PC-Write. No start-up
options are required.

PFS Professional Write version 2.11
-----------------------------------
Users of PFS Professional Write will need to start the QuickVerse Companion
with the /P option to correct for missing letters at the start of a verse.
The /S option may also be required to ensure that characters are not "lost"
while pasting.

Q & A Write version 3.00
------------------------
Users of Symantec's Q & A Write, the word processing module of Q & A, will
need to start the QuickVerse Companion with the /S (slow paste) option to
ensure that characters are not "lost" while pasting.

Also, since Q & A Write can only change typestyles on words that are already
typed in, the format key customization features may not be able to be fully
utilized.

QuiteWrite version 2.0a
-----------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is entirely compatible with QuiteWrite. No start-up
options are required. Italics for supplied words should only be used if
QuiteWrite is installed to support italics.

Smart II Word Processor
-----------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is entirely compatible with the Smart II word
processor. No start-up options are required.

Symphony
--------
Users of Lotus Symphony may need to use the slow-paste option (/s) when
starting the QuickVerse Companion.

Word 5.0
--------
The QuickVerse Companion is compatible with Word; however, due to unusual
interactions between Word and terminate-and-stay resident programs, it is
necessary to take special steps when installing Word. As stated in the Word
5.0 documentation, you should install Word with the "safe keyboard option."
This option is one of the choices available when selecting the computer type
while installing Word. If this option is not used, several key-strokes will
be required to activate the QuickVerse Companion.

Word does not acknowledge selecting typestyles if the cursor is placed on the
"end of file" marker. Therefore, if you use the QuickVerse Companion format
key sequences (for bold, italic, verse number), do not paste into your
document when the cursor is underneath the end of file marker. If you do,
Word will merely beep and not set the desired typestyle. An easy rule of
thumb to remember is to never paste onto the last line of your document.

Additionally, the QuickVerse Companion will work better if some start-up
options are used. Use the /G and /W options if you will be using Word in
graphics mode. Further, if you use the supplied key file WORD2.KEY and a
keyboard macro, you should also use the /S option. The /S option is not
required if you do not use a keyboard macro.

Windows 3.0
-----------
The QuickVerse Companion is generally NOT compatible with Microsoft Windows
applications. While the QuickVerse Companion may be used within a DOS window,
it is not possible for it to interact with Windows applications.

Word Perfect 5.0
----------------
The QuickVerse Companion is entirely compatible with WordPerfect. No start-up
options are required. If you make use of one of WordPerfect's special
character sets (such as underline or italics), and if you do not have a VGA
graphics adapter, highlighted words on the QuickVerse Companion windows may
appear underlined or italicized. This does not affect the operation of the
QuickVerse Companion. Also, do not use the 512 characters font.

Word Perfect 5.1
----------------
See the comments for WordPerfect 5.0 above. Additionally, it may not be
possible to use the "print to screen or page preview" option when the
QuickVerse Companion is installed due to RAM limitations.

The QuickVerse Companion is not compatible with some early versions of
WordPerfect 5.1. If you are experiencing otherwise unexplained errors when
using QVC with WordPerfect 5.1, you might want to contact WordPerfect to
verify that you have the newest version of version 5.1.

If a mouse is used with WordPerfect, it may not be possible to remove the
QuickVerse Companion after exiting WordPerfect.

WordStar Professional 5.5
-------------------------
The QuickVerse Companion is entirely compatible with WordStar Professional.
No start-up options are required. During Paste operations, Wordstar might not
be able to update screen colors as quickly as the QuickVerse Companion is
typing in information; therefore, the display may look unusual until the Paste
is complete. This does not affect the operation in any way.

Works, version 2.0
------------------
Microsoft Works, version 2.0, is NOT compatible with the QuickVerse Companion.
Microsoft uses programming techiniques which make it impossible for well-
behaved TSR programs, such as the QuickVerse Companion and Sidekick, to
interact properly with Works.

The QuickVerse Companion is unable to properly paste verses into Microsoft
Works documents. A group of letters will be typed in, but Works then pauses
until the Enter key is pressed. To paste in a long verse, or group of verses,
it may be necessary to press the Enter key several times.

XyWrite III Plus
----------------
For the QuickVerse Companion to work properly with the XyWrite III Plus word
processor, the XyWrite keyboard program XYKBD.COM must be loaded before any
other TSR programs, including the QuickVerse Companion, are started. This
program is discussed in a readme file shipped with the program disk. You

KEY DEFINITION FILES SUPPLIED WITH THE QUICKVERSE COMPANION
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The QuickVerse Companion Program Disk includes several key definition files
that you may use with the QuickVerse Companion. Our purpose is NOT to supply
a key file for every version of every word processor, but instead to provide a
sampling of key files for a few of the popular word processors. This is
intended to help you understand the concepts behind creating a key file so
that you will be able to easily customize the QuickVerse Companion to work
with your version of your word processor.

Each of the key files supplied work with the indicated version of the word
processor. Since some word processors change the ways that typestyles and
character attributes are set from version to version, you may need to
customize these key files to work with your version of your word processor.
Each of the supplied key files may be examined or modified using the KEYS
program as discussed in your QuickVerse Companion manual.

Standard Key File
-----------------
The standard key file is named QVC.KEY, and is the default key file used the
very first time that you start the QuickVerse Companion. This key file defines
the standard hot keys, as discussed in your manual, and specifies identifiers
for search words and phrases, supplied words, and verse numbers. These
identifiers only indicate the occurrence, and do not affect the typestyle.

       quick reference paste: Alt-2
       paste current verse: Alt-3
       paste all verses: Alt-4
       enable QuickVerse: Alt-Equals
       disable QuickVerse: Alt-Minus

       start bold: [
       stop bold: ]
       start italics: <
       stop italics: >
       start verse #:             {
       stop verse #:              }

PC-Write Key File
-----------------
The key file for PC-Write uses the standard hot keys and defines format key
sequences tailored for PC-Write. Bold and italics are both used. In
addition, verse numbers are shown in a compressed, super-script format. This
is a good example of how the QuickVerse Companion may be customized to use
multiple attributes (in this case, both compressed and superscript) for a
format.

       pop-up QuickVerse window: Alt-1
       quick reference paste: Alt-2
       paste current verse: Alt-3
       paste all verses: Alt-4

       disable QuickVerse: Alt-Minus

       start bold: Alt-B
       stop bold: Alt-B
       start italics: Alt-I
       stop italics: Alt-I
       start verse #: Alt-C Alt-H
       stop verse #: Alt-H Alt-C

QuiteWrite Key Files
--------------------
Two key files are supplied for Parsons Technology's QuiteWrite word processor.
Use QW1.KEY if your QuiteWrite is configured to use italics. Use QW2.KEY if
it is not. These are examples of how two key files may be used to provide
customization for different versions of a word processor.

       stop verse #: Esc T N Esc T N

Smart II Key File
-----------------
The Smart II key file uses the standard hot keys, bold, italic, and
superscript. Since the key sequences use the Enter key, this is a good
example of when the Enter key can not be used to terminate the key sequence.
In this case, the Esc key was used as the "done" key. Note that the Layout
Font Select menu (F6) is used to select italics and superscript. Standard 12
point type is assumed.

       pop-up QuickVerse window: Alt-1
       quick reference paste: Alt-2
       paste current verse: Alt-3
       paste all verses: Alt-4
       enable QuickVerse: Alt-Equals
       disable QuickVerse: Alt-Minus

       start bold: Ctrl-B
       stop bold: Ctrl-B
       start italics: F6 1 Enter
       stop italics: F6 0 Enter
       start verse #: F6 3 Enter
       stop verse #: F6 0 Enter

Word 5.0 Key Files
------------------
Two key files are supplied for Word 5.0. Both use customized hot key
definitions and format key sequences to use bold, italics, and superscript.
Which key file you choose to use or modify depends upon your preference and
version of Word.

The first key file is a good example of how the arrow keys may be used to
select options from a menu. The second key file is a good example of how a
key file may be used in conjunction with a macro to produce the desired
effect. Both key files provide an example of changing a hot key due to a
conflict with the word processor.

The hot key for Enable QuickVerse has been changed in both of the Word 5.0 key
files to resolve a conflict with a key used by Word. Normally, Alt-Equals is
the Enable QuickVerse hot key; however, Word uses this key to specify
superscript. Therefore, the Enable QuickVerse hot key has been reassigned to
a different key. The hot keys defined by both key files are:

       pop-up QuickVerse window: Alt-1
       quick reference paste: Alt-2
       paste current verse: Alt-3
       paste all verses: Alt-4
       enable QuickVerse: Alt-0
       disable QuickVerse: Alt-Minus

Both of the Word 5.0 key files specify the same typestyles (bold, italic, and
superscript). However, these typestyles are selected in different ways. The
WORD1.KEY key file uses the format menu to select the typestyle. Since this
method is highly dependent upon the menu structure, it may not work correctly
with previous or future versions of Word. The format key sequences defined in
WORD1.KEY are:

       start bold: Esc F C Y Enter
       stop bold: Esc F C N Enter
start italics: Esc F C RtArrow Y Enter
stop italics: Esc F C RtArrow N Enter
start verse #: Esc F C DnArrow DnArrow RtArrow S Enter
stop verse #: Esc F C DnArrow DnArrow RtArrow N Enter

Since the Enter key was used in the sequence, this is another example of when
the Enter key can not be used as the "done" key. In this case, the F1 key was
used.

The second Word 5.0 key file makes use of the shortcut keys (Alt-B for bold,
Alt-I for italics, Alt-= for superscript, and Alt-Space for normal). However,
since Alt-Space does not generate a unique key code, it can not be typed in by
the QuickVerse Companion. This key file assumes that a keyboard macro has
been made to assign Ctrl-N to mean Alt-Space. The format key sequences,
making use of bold, italic, and superscript, are:

       start bold: Alt-B
       stop bold: Ctrl-N
       start italics: Alt-I
       stop italics: Ctrl-N
       start verse #: Alt-Equals
       stop verse #: Ctrl-N

Additionally, Word can not process the Ctrl-N macro as fast as the QuickVerse
Companion can type; therefore, to avoid having Word miss some keys, it is
necessary to start the QuickVerse Companion with the /S option when this key
file will be used.

Both of these key files result in the same customized formats being used.
However, vastly different methods were used to accomplish the same goals. You
may find with your word processor that you have a similar situation.

Though the method used in WORD2.KEY is more general than the method used in
WORD1.KEY, it has the disadvantages of requiring a keyboard macro and the /S
option. The WORD1.KEY key file is not as general, and may only work with this
version of Word, but it is much more efficient.

WordPerfect 5.0 Key File
------------------------
This key file uses the standard hot keys and defines format key sequences
tailored for Word Perfect. The F6 shortcut key is used to control bold. The
Font menu (Ctrl-F8) is used to set the size and appearance attributes of the
text. This is an example of a word processor changing the methods of
controlling the typestyles between versions. The method used in this key file
for version 5.0 will not work for version 4.0, which would require a different
key file.

       pop-up QuickVerse window: Alt-1
       quick reference paste: Alt-2
       paste current verse: Alt-3
       paste all verses: Alt-4
       enable QuickVerse: Alt-Equals
       disable QuickVerse: Alt-Minus

       start bold: F6
       stop bold: F6
       start italics: Ctrl-F8 A I
       stop italics: Ctrl-F8 A I
       start verse #: Ctrl-F8 S P
       stop verse #: Ctrl-F8 S P

                This concludes the README information.

We hope that you have found this additional
                information helpful.
