UltraFAX 1.10 Release Information / Read Me File

Thank you for purchasing UltraFAX, ZSoft's clear choice for fax
software in the Windows environment.

This file includes additional information and corrections
that became available after the UltraFAX 1.10 manuals
were printed.

===============================================================
NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 1.10

Manual Receive
--------------

The Manual Receive command has been improved. You can now select the
Manual Receive command from either the UltraFAX Manager File menu or the
UltraFAX Server dialog box.

Choose Manual Receive as soon as the phone starts ringing to have
UltraFAX answer. You can also choose Manual Receive if you answer
the phone and hear the shrill tone of a fax machine trying to connect.
UltraFAX takes control of the call and attempts to establish a link
with the remote unit.

Importing Document Pages
------------------------

The Import command has been added to the UltraFAX Viewer File menu. You
use this command to import a black and white graphic file as a new
document or cover page.

Changing the Screen Font
------------------------

The Screen Font command has been added to the UltraFAX Manager Layout menu.
You use this command to change the font UltraFAX Manager uses to display
the desktop window entry information.

Because the Ackidens and Claredon TrueType fonts that are included with
UltraFAX are optimized for use on fax transmissions, they are not suitable
for use as UltraFAX Manager screen fonts. The use of these fonts as screen
fonts can produce unexpected results.

Resizing and Reordering Desktop Window Columns
----------------------------------------------

You can now use your mouse to resize a desktop window column by
simply dragging the column separator line to a new position.
You can also change the order in which the columns are displayed
by dragging the column header left or right to a new position.
The column is inserted to the left of the column it is dropped on.

Setting the Date Format
-----------------------

You can now choose the date format you want UltraFAX to use by selecting
the Date format option in UltraFAX Manager Preferences dialog box.

Deleting Documents After Send
-----------------------------

UltraFAX can now optionally delete a fax document after it is sent. Only
the actual document is deleted, the transmission log remains in the Out Box.
This option is very useful if you want to save hard disk space and don't
need to keep a copy of every fax you send.

Automatic Com Port Selection
----------------------------

Setting up UltraFAX to work with your fax board is made easier with the
addition of the Auto Com Port option in the Fax Modem Setup dialog box.
Using this option, UltraFAX can automatically detect what COM port your
fax board is using and configure itself accordingly.

Merging UltraFAX Phone Lists
----------------------------

You can now merge two UltraFAX Phone Lists with the Import command
on the Phone menu.

Prompt if Scheduled Send Time Passes Without Send
-------------------------------------------------

If you schedule a delayed transmission and for some reason UltraFAX isn't
running when the scheduled time arrives, you are now prompted the next time
you run UltraFAX to send, reschedule, or cancel the transmission.

Holding a Transmission That Is Waiting to Send
----------------------------------------------

You can temporarily delay sending a transmission that is waiting to send by
holding it in the Out Box with the Hold command on the UltraFAX Manager File
menu. Held transmissions remain in the Out Box until released with the
Release command.

Releasing a Held Transmission
-----------------------------

You can release a transmission that has a Held status with the Release
command on the UltraFAX Manager File menu.

ULTRAFAX AND CAS COMPATIBLE FAX BOARDS

CAS compatible fax boards include a TSR program that automatically sends
and receives faxes in the background. When you run CAS without UltraFAX,
your CAS software automatically saves a copy of every incoming fax in CAS
format. You can then use your CAS viewer to view the fax.

If you are running UltraFAX, however, the UltraFAX Server automatically
intercepts all incoming faxes and places them in the UltraFAX In Box.
This feature eliminates the redundancy of two copies of every incoming fax
(one CAS and one UltraFAX) being saved on your hard disk.

===============================================================
SUPPORTED FAX BOARDS

UltraFAX supports most popular Class 1 and Class 2 and
CAS-compatible fax boards, including the following Class 1 and
Class 2 boards. If your Class 1 or Class 2 board is not listed,
use the Fax Modem Setup command on the Options menu and choose
Class 1 or Class 2, rather than a specific fax board. If you
have trouble getting your fax board to work with the Class 1 or
Class 2 option selected, call ZSoft Technical Support.

REMOVING ULTRAFAX FROM YOUR HARD DISK

ZSoft has included a batch file that will remove the UltraFAX
files from your hard disk in the event you need to uninstall
the program. This file is called DELDLLS.BAT and is on the
UltraFAX Setup Disk 1. This file deletes any UltraFAX program
files (DLL's) from the current directory. Keep in mind
that you must use a text editor to manually remove any
references to UltraFAX in your WIN.INI, as well as any scanner
driver references in your CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT.

There are also several DLL files that are shared between various
ZSoft products. If you do not have other ZSoft products (such as
PhotoFinish) installed on your hard disk, you can use the DOS
delete command to remove the following files from your Windows
System directory:

ZIODCX.DLL
ZIOPCX.DLL
ZIOBMP.DLL
ZIOTIFF.DLL
ZIOZGF.DLL

You must also manually delete the UltraFAX directory and its
subdirectories.

If you think you might need to remove UltraFAX in the future,
install the UltraFAX program files to the UltraFAX directory
when you are asked by the Setup program. Doing this makes
deleting UltraFAX and its associated files as simple as
deleting your UltraFAX directory and its subdirectories.

If you chose to install some UltraFAX files to your Windows
System directory, follow the steps below.

To delete the UltraFAX DLL's from your hard disk:
1 Exit Windows.
2 Insert the UltraFAX Setup Disk 1 in a floppy drive.
3 Change to the Windows System directory.
4 Type the letter of the floppy drive that contains the setup disk,
followed by deldlls. For example, if the disk is in drive A:,
   you would type: a:deldlls
5 Follow the directions that appear on your screen.
