1 CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS TO WP OFFICE 4.0 FOR DOS
=================================================================

ADDRESSING
=========================
Your full name appears in the From field. You can, however, add
text to the From field. Type the text you want to display and
send the message. Your full name will be added by WP Office and
display in parentheses when the recipient receives the message.
The From information appears in the message and also when users
are notified of incoming items.

ATTACHMENTS
=========================
To read attachments with wide margins, use Clip Text Mode. While
reading an attachment, press Alt+F9, then choose Clip Text Mode.
Use the horizontal scroll bar to view the file. You can also use
Alt+F3 or F11 to switch between Word Wrap Mode and Clip Text
Mode. For example, you can view a WordPerfect table in landscape
format using Clip Text Mode.

ERROR MESSAGES
=========================
Error: Group name cannot override user ID
Cause: You cannot save a Personal Group using your user ID.
Solution: Save the group with another name.

Error: Message text buffer full - data will be truncated
Cause: You have retrieved a file into the Message text box that
is larger than 8K.
Solution: Send the file as an attachment.

Error:  Security Breach
Cause: Your user ID has been changed and the Office server has
not processed the change.
Solution: Contact your system administrator about the user ID.

FILE TYPE ASSOCIATIONS
=========================
If you use a batch file (.BAT) to start a program, you can enter
the name of the batch file in Create/Edit Association. This will
let you read a message and then use Launch Attachment to have WP
Office start the program and view your attachment.

For example, you could have a WP51.BAT file that starts
WordPerfect 5.1. The contents of a sample WP51.BAT file are
listed below.

CD\WP51
WP.EXE %1
^Z

The command WP.EXE is the program executable file. The selected
filename is passed to the batch file with a DOS replaceable
parameter (%1). See your DOS manual for details on replaceable
parameters.

In WP Office, you would enter the following in View Attachment by
Launching. (Choose File, Setup, Attachment & Editor Association,
Associate by File Type. In this example, WordPerfect 5.1 would
be selected in the File Types list box.)

            Filename: C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM
Command Line Options: /C WP51.BAT

See your DOS manual for details on the /c DOS switch used with
COMMAND.COM.

FIND
=========================
If you select Message in the Find dialog box, the time to search
through each item increases significantly.

MEMORY
=========================
Although WP Office will start up with 450K of conventional
memory, it is recommended that as much free conventional memory
as possible be made available. This can be accomplished by using
any combination of the following five brief suggestions. (1) Use
the WP Shell 4.0 program to access your DOS programs. See your
WP Shell User's Guide for further details. (2) Use the /r
startup option to load menus, error messages, and overlays into
expanded or extended memory. (3) Use a memory manager. (4) Use
DOS 5.0 or higher, which will enable you to load DOS high,
freeing up more conventional memory. (5) Use a disk cache
program to improve speed.

MEMORY & SOUND FILES
=========================
You can use a memory manager to load the sound drivers high.
This increases the amount of conventional memory available for WP
Office. For more information, refer to README.ARS.

MULTIUSER APPOINTMENTS
=========================
You can view up to 10 users' appointment lists at the same time
with Multiuser Appointments. In the Multiuser Appointments
window, you can act as a proxy for the users and receive items.
As a proxy, you can also send items. The actions you can perform
depend on each user's Access List.

NOTIFY & ALARM OPTIONS
=========================
In the Edit/New Tune dialog box, you are limited to 29 notes for
each tune.

STARTUP OPTIONS
=========================
/@u-userid
Use /@u-? to prompt for user ID when you start WP Office. After
you enter this startup option, the Select User dialog displays.

/dc
Disable caching. This option instructs WP Office to not use
caching to overlay the program file. You may improve performance
on some 80386 (or better) processors by disabling caching. The
startup option is not needed for 80286 processors (caching is
disabled by default).

STARTUP OPTIONS--NOTIFY
=========================
/u-xxx
Tells Notify the file ID for the WP Office mailbox that you are
starting. Replace xxx with your file ID. You can use /u-? to
prompt for file ID when you start Notify. After you enter this
startup option, you are prompted to enter your file ID.

/file-path notxxx.fil
Tells Notify where the post office Notify file is located for the
WP Office mailbox you are starting. Replace xxx with your file
ID (for example, NOTIFY /FILE-X:\WPOFFICE\OFNOTIFY\NOTBRL.FIL).

/ph-path
Tells Notify where the post office is located for the WP Office
mailbox you are starting.

/r
Use /r to remove Notify from memory.

USING THE MOUSE
=========================
You can use your mouse to cancel. On a three-button mouse, the
center key performs the Cancel function. On a two-button mouse,
you can click the left and right buttons at the same time to
cancel.

WORDPERFECT CHARACTERS
=========================
WP Office has a Print Setup option to launch and print with
WordPerfect 6.0. If you have WordPerfect 6.0, you can use
Compose (Ctrl+2) in WP Office to insert characters from the
WordPerfect 6.0 character sets. See WordPerfect Characters in
your WordPerfect Reference manual.

WP OFFICE DOS KEYSTROKES
=========================
The actions available vary depending on which option or feature
you are using. A word enclosed in angle brackets (<>) is a WP
Office action available only from the main screen. A word
enclosed in brackets ([]) is a WP Office action available only
when creating, sending, or reading items. A word without
brackets is a WP Office action available from more than one
place. For example, you can delete an item from the main screen
and from the read screen.
