INSTALLATION NOTES:

As a general rule it is important to only run a single version of a
particular application on your system. For example, it is not recommended
to have Microsoft Word 2.0, 2.0A and 2.0B on your system at the same time.
However, it is okay to have Microsoft Word 1.0 and Microsoft Word 2.0 on
your machine at the same time.

During the installation, Sherlock will add the following Sub Directories
to your system (where "<d>" is your drive).
DO NOT RENAME OR MOVE ANY OF THESE.

1)	<d>:\WINDOWS\SHERLOCK or whatever your Windows Sub directory is
	called.

The Sherlock sub directory under the Windows directory contains the
EXE files in addition to all your Sherlock's Application Drivers
	(DLL).

Under your root directory you will find:

2)	<d>:\SHERLOCK

The <d>:\SHERLOCK sub directory contains all the documents which are
created and managed by Sherlock. Whenever you create a File Cabinet,
Drawer, File Folder or a Document, Sherlock creates these directories
	under the Sherlock sub directory.

3)	<d>:\SHERLOCK.FEI (Hidden)

The <d>:\SHERLOCK.FEI sub directory contains the engine, which
indexes and controls where each document is located in your system.

4)	Sherlock modifies your WIN.INI. by adding SH.EXE to your
LOAD = line. When Sherlock is disabled, Sherlock removes SH.EXE from
	your LOAD = Line.

*Please make sure to restart Windows when disabling Sherlock.

5)	Sherlock modifies your AUTOEXEC.BAT by adding WINDOWS\SHERLOCK to
your path statement. The old AUTOEXEC.BAT is saved as AUTOEXEC.SHE.

Backup:

When you want to back-up your system, please select the <d>:\SHERLOCK sub
directory and <d>:\SHERLOCK.FEI & <d>:\SHDATA and any other drive containing
these sub directories.

FAST IMPORT

Fast Import allows you to bring many files into your Sherlock enviornment quickly
and easily.

The Fast Import utility is started by clicking the document icon on the tool bar of
your Sherlock window. You may also start Fast Import from the Physiotronics Sherlock
group within your Program Manager.

The first screen lists all applications that Sherlock is compatible with. Applications
that are not available in your system, and or applications that you have loaded in your
system, but have not used with Sherlock yet, appear as grayed out items in the list box.
In order to be able to use the latter to do a fast import you must first use those
applications to save at least one document into your Sherlock structure.

You select an application by higlighting it and pressing the Use Application button.

The second screen is a modified Open Dialog Box. The Import Documents To: box contains
the destination folder for your files. If no destination is specified in the
Import Documents To: box you must press the Destination button to select a location.
This button brings up the Sherlock Locator Card. Next you can go to the directory that
contains the documents you wish to import. The contents of the directory will be
shown in the File Name To Import: list box. this is a multiple selection box, which
means that you can select one single file or to speed things up a group of files to import.
We strongly suggest that you only select files that were created by the application
you specified in the beginning screen.

Once you have selected your files and made sure that you have a destination folder
specified, you can press the Import button to start the Fast Import procedure.

The next screen allows you to either give an up to 254 character document description
to your files, use the DOS name and directory path for all the files you are importing,
skip certain files that you do not want to import, or cancel the whole operation.

After completion Fast Import brings up a message box that informs you of the results
of the operation.

makes importing documents that currently exist in an 8 character format
much easier.
