1. LINKING AND EMBEDDING CHARTS

We recommended that you use TrueType fonts
if you are using the Object Linking and Embedding
(OLE) feature to link or embed your org chart to
other applications. TrueType fonts allow you to
scale the chart in your other application with
greater accuracy.

2. ADDITIONAL UNDOCUMENTED FEATURES AND CORRECTIONS

*200% of Actual (Chart menu)

Since most people use very small fonts in order to fit
as much information on the page as possible, we have
added a new command, 200% of Actual. This command lets
you magnify your chart for easy viewing and editing of
small text.

*Actual Size (Chart menu)

You may notice that text at "Actual Size" on VGA or
EGA monitors appears LARGER on the screen than in
other programs. Since most people use very small
fonts in organization charts, we felt the Actual Size
command would be more useful if it showed text
somewhat larger (approximately 50% larger) than it is
when printed. If you use large fonts, you may prefer
to edit at "50% of Actual."

*Maximum chart size

The maximum chart size that can be created is 110"
X 110". This is the upper limit maximum size. The
true maximum depends on the resolution of your
printer. If your chart exceeds the maximum size
possible for your printer, Org Plus will display a
message.

*Maximum number of charts open at one time.

The manual states that you can have up to 8 charts
open at the same time. The correct number is 4.

*Chart Title

To help you see where to type your chart title, Org
Plus inserts the words "Chart Title" in the top center
title area of new charts. You can select this text
and delete it or replace it with whatever text you
want. You can also type your chart title in any of
the other chart title areas. There are three title
areas across the top of the chart, and three title
areas across the bottom of the chart.

3. PRINTER NOTES

*Printer resolution

Many printers offer a choice of print quality settings.
Change your print quality by choosing Print from the
File menu.

For best results on dot-matrix printers, select the print
quality where only one number is displayed, for example
180 dpi, or where the height and width numbers displayed
are equal, for example 180 dpi x 180 dpi. The abbreviation
"dpi" refers to "dots per inch."

An incorrect printer setting will produce printouts that
are different from what you see on the screen.

For best results on laser printers, choose the highest
possible resolution.

*Using the HP LaserJet printer

We recommend that you set the resolution of your
HP LaserJet printer to 150 dots per inch, or medium
quality. 300 dots per inch or high quality, will give
you the best quality, but will increase your print time.
At 75 dots per inch or low quality, text appears very
rough, and hairlines will not print correctly.

Your laser printer driver may display print quality
options other than 300 dpi, 150 dpi, 75 dpi, or high,
medium, or low quality. Consult your printer manual to
understand the quality versus speed issues.

4. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT FONTS
    FOR WINDOWS 3.0 USERS

Depending on which printer you have installed and the
fonts you select, you may notice that text on the
screen sometimes appears chopped off. This is due to
the fact that the Windows 3.0 screen fonts usually do
not closely match the printer fonts.

To correct this problem, we recommend that you install
a font manager program such as Adobe Type Manager (ATM).

ATM makes the text on your screen match the text on your
printer as closely as possible. ATM fonts also can be
printed on any printer, including dot-matrix printers.

If you are using Windows 3.1 or higher, we recommend
you use the Windows TrueType fonts instead. They will
provide the same high quality results.

If you choose to use other printer fonts, keep in mind
that the text on the screen may sometimes appear
chopped off. The text is there, but it is not
completely visible until you edit or print it. Org
Plus calculates box size and spacing based on the
printer font sizes rather than the screen fonts in
order to print your charts correctly.
