	---  R:BASE DataPublisher Version 1.0 ---

==== Ami Pro ====

R:BASE DataPublisher directly supports versions 3.0 and 2.0
of Lotus Ami Pro for Windows. The target document for Ami Pro
is AMIPRO3.SAM.

==== Performance Issues ====

A data transfer of more than 800 Kilobytes can cause a dramatic
decrease in performance when using Copy and Paste Link to create
a link between a DataPublisher setup file and a Windows word
processor. If you find the link too slow for your application, use
the File Export command to create an intermediate RTF file instead.

==== DDE Links ====

If you use multiple DDE links in a document, you should ensure that
the last setup file you modified is saved before updating the links
from the word processor. Failure to save the modified setup file
results in another copy of DataPublisher being loaded into memory
and executed. If you modify one of the setup files while links are
active, you will not be able to update the links until after you
have saved the modified setup file and then selected Close from the
DataPublisher File menu. DataPublisher can support up to 15 links
per run; more than 15 links causes another copy of DataPublisher to
be run automatically.

==== Auto Capitalization ====

-- Blank rows in exception tables

You should not have blank rows in the middle of an exception table.
If you do, not all of the exceptions after the blank line are
recognized.

==== Side by Side Paragraphs ====

The built in separator table cannot be changed when using side by
side paragraphs.

==== Replacement ====

-- Text Pattern performance with large replacement tables

Text patterns are powerful tools but they consume considerable
processing time. Complex text patterns or many of rows of text
patterns in a replacement table dramatically slows down the
redrawing of the Work table for those replaced columns. Try to
simplify your text patterns or use the Exact Replace option if
possible, or turn off replacements when you are working on another
part of the Work table.

-- Heading count, sum etc. not available in Replace

Numbers that are generated by the Group values option in the Heading
Control dialog cannot be replaced.

-- Blank rows in replacement tables

You should not have blank rows in the middle of an replacement
table. If you do, not all of the replacements after the blank line
are recognized.

==== Microsoft Word for Windows ====

If you link a DataPublisher setup file that contains graphic
filenames in R:BASE columns, you must use the 'Update fields'
command in Word for Windows to view the graphics. When all of the
DataPublisher data has been copied to the Word for Windows document,
press the F9 key in Word for Windows to see the graphic images.

==== PageMaker ====

-- PageMaker target printers

DataPublisher does not read the PageMaker target printer when you
select a target publication in the Select Target Publication dialog
box. You must select the correct target printer, the same one
selected in PageMaker, from the Select Target Printer dialog box in
DataPublisher. If the two target printers selected are different,
you may have formatting problems in PageMaker when side-by-side
paragraphs are placed.

-- Adding styles in PageMaker

When you choose a target publication from the Select Target
Publication dialog, DataPublisher reads the paragraph styles and
inserts them into its paragraph style list. Any paragraph styles
added to the target publication after it is selected are not
automatically added to the DataPublisher list. If you want a new
paragraph style to be added to the DataPublisher paragraph
style list, you must select the publication again.

-- Filter Preferences

A Filter feature that is not in the documentation is the ability to
limit the number of rows imported into PageMaker with the Filter
Preferences dialog. This is different from limiting the number of
rows in the Query preference section of DataPublisher. You open the
Filter Preferences dialog by clicking OK with the Shift key
depressed in the PageMaker Place file dialog. Click on the Limit
rows imported checkbox and select the range of rows to be placed.
The Filter Preferences dialog also contains a checkbox that enables
the 'page break before' paragraph formatting option. This checkbox
is normally disabled, forcing PageMaker to ignore all page breaks
included in paragraph styles. To allow PageMaker paragraph styles to
use 'page break before', check this box on. You must ensure that the
PageMaker document you are placing the DataPublisher setup file in
contains predefined paragraph styles for all the paragraph styles
used in the DataPublisher setup file.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
1)	All data types present a selction to allow a column to be
	interpreted as a graphic filename. This option should only be
	used on columns which are either text or note fields and contain
	the actual filename and file extension of the graphic image.

2)	DataPublisher will permit the user to interpret a DATE column
	using the TIME conversion and vice-versa, however, the results
	will be meaningless. You should only interpret DATEs as dates,
	TIMEs and times.
