Many people have searched for the Crown since then, but no one has been able to find it. The individual must be single, and be willing to live in an old castle on a secluded island off the east coast of England. The ad brings to mind the Book of Healing you inherited from your Gypsy parents. You decide to take a chance, and you answer the ad. To your amazement, you get the job. You immediately book passage to the island, and you arrive at the castle a few days later. As you unpack, you record your inventory of herbs and elixirs in your Book of Healing. By chance, you overhear the servants talking about a Ghost that roams the castleat night. You laugh to yourself since you were taught that only thesimple minded believe in ghosts. However, the events that unfold in the days ahead may cause you to reconsider your beliefs. FUTURE QUEST The time is several years from now. Technology has advanced at a rapid pace. Electronic equipment is now smaller and lighter weight. The one exception is televisions, which are now bigger and better. There have also been a number ofsocial changes. The government hascreated a new monetary unit, calleda credit. The government claimed this new type of money would solve our nation's inflationary problems. However, this new currency didn't stop inflation at all; it simply got several politicians elected. The first official act of these new politicians was to create a government agency called Central Control. The Agency's purpose was to hire and train Special Agents. Those agents would then be assignedto work on missions of national importance. That's where you come in. You were just hired as a Special Agent, and you have been assigned to work in the city of Marshallville. In the days ahead, you will be called upon to handle a wide variety of extremely dangerous missions. This is not another arcade type game to challenge your reflexes. Instead, this is a text adventure. A text adventure is like a good book. Using nothing but words, a text adventure creates a fictional environment in which you become thehero or heroine. However, it is different from a book in that the ending will depend on how well you use common sense and logic. In general, text adventures appeal to people who enjoy using their brains instead of their reflexes. When you start the game, you will find yourself deep in the tropical jungle area of Southern Mexico. The first thing you must do is findthe Temple of Death, and the secretentrance into the Temple itself. Once inside the Temple, you should:1. Avoid or escape from the many Death Traps located throughout the Temple. 2. Find and take as many treasures as you can. 3. Gradually make your way to the top of the Temple and freedom. To play this game, type in short sentences. For example, you might type 'TAKE THE RED BOOK'. The verbs SEARCH, EXAMINE, SCORE, ERASE, & MENU are used as follows: When you use the verb SEARCH, you may find a Secret Passage, or a Hidden Object, or nothing at all. Use the verb EXAMINE (or LOOK AT) to closely inspect a specific item. Type SCORE to see the fourteen highest game scores. To erase all the scores, except for the five highest ones, type ERASE. To review these instructions at anytime during the game, type MENU. It will appear inthe MAP window (see illustration). Your position is shown by the *. The D shows where you could go Downto the next level.
