About the game
==============
Evil Baron Lachie And The Amazing Marcos Kasomba is a Space Invaders
clone made primarily for Space Invaders Remake Competition organized
by Nekrophidius in the April of 2005.

EBL was coded in QBasic 4.50 using RelLib library created by R.E.Lope.

EBL requires XMS memory so if you are running the game in Windows
allocate XMS memory with a shortcut if the one I provided doesn't work.

EBL is not a classic Space Invaders clone. It features fast-paced
gameplay, multiple weapons and a moving defense objects(paddles) with
controllable force field between them. Read the instructions inside the
game to learn more about the gameplay.

This Competition Edition of EBL is not a full game or better yet, final
version of the game. Due the competition deadline and my obligations I was
not able to properly finish this game so I beg you to think of this
version only as of a competition entry and nothing more. The final version
is a serious possibility in the near future but I cannot tell much more
from that.

This version features 7 waves(levels), 7 types of different invading
ships, boss wave, nice graphic, explosion effects, illustrated and
animated story and couple of more nice touches like "wave ending"
animation.

What this edition lacks and what final version should have is:
* story animation after the first boss wave(wave 5)
* 2 more regular waves with one more type of invading ships
* end boss wave including a dialogue with the end boss(Baron Lachie)
  and the end game story animation
* better collision
* highscores
* encryption of DAT files
* Sound Blaster music and sound effects
* better and more balanced gameplay(I might redesign all the waves)

Why this game and why QB?
=========================
Believe it or not but I was not willing to start a new project in QBasic and
if I had more time to play with fB this game would be coded in fB. Also,
I did not planned to release another game without proper Sound Blaster
sounds and with the same ol' boring KENTAURI design but since I decided to
work on this game quite suddenly I forgot to acquire the needed libraries.
But I doubt I would have time to compose or find proper music and sound
effects. EBL does not represent my current aspirations in game design.
I do want to do something different and change my overall approach to game
design but I just couldn't resist this compo. Due it's simplicity EBL will
be perfect for porting to fB and, I hope, will help me to get familiar with
the compiler. I sincerely hope that the final version will happen in the
near future. QB is past for me as far as game design goes(and only as game
design).

And no, I did not forgot about LONG. Leave me alone.

Things not said in the instructions but should be said
======================================================
During the story intro you can skip scenes by pressing ENTER but
you can't exit from the story intro before the last scene.
To skip the dialogue with the boss in wave 5 press ENTER or ESC.
To pause the game you can press ESC and then to resume press N.
This game doesn't feature sound effects so ignore that option in
the game options menu. Also, the instructions were written for the
final version of the game. There is no 10 waves. You can only play
7 waves.

What you shouldn't do with this edition of the game
===================================================
DON'T REVIEW THIS EDITION or I'll have your head! I'm so fed up with
people reviewing demos and half-baked games when there is so much QBasic
games that deserve to be reviewed but are not. Review EBL only for the
competition and the competition promotion purposes.
