FOREWORD
--------

Here it is, the completed version of "...in the Nocturne". Alas, some of
the things which were planned, had to be cut. The biggest of these, was
the music and sound (...and damn, but I really think the music I wrote for
this game turned out so well... pity). Adding in the DS4QBPP libraries
simply made the game too unstable... and rather than spend another few
days trying to get it working satisfactorily, I decided enough was enough.
I wanted to finish this game, and move on to other projects.

Probably not the best way to ensure that something is released, but, you
are reading this now, which means it worked.

CONTROLS
--------

Arrow keys - move character/pointer
Esc - bring up menu
Enter - make selections/open chests/rest in bed

TIPS
--------

You'll notice that "...in the Nocturne" doesn't have a standard experience
based leveling system. Indeed, you will find that your character will grow
as you use him. This allows for extra flexibility in building the type of
character which you like to play. If you enjoy a mage, you can go through
the game casting spells, and your strength with the sword will not go up
much at all. If you're a warrior type, bash every enemy, and you'll find
yourself with little MP, and weak spell casting ability. So remember, your
character will grow the way you play him.

Overall, this game is made with battling, exploring, and character building
in mind. The story is tacked on, only to give a basic purpose, and setting
for the game. Don't complain about lack of story. ;)

CODE
--------

Yep, this game was written in QuickBasic 4.5 thus, making it a DOS game.
However, because of the lack of external libraries (see? ...there's a plus
for leaving the sound and music out) it should run just great under any
Windows environment, and should be fully compatible with DOSemu. I have
personally tested the game under Windows 98, and 2K, both with 100%
compatibilty, as the result.

As usual, I have included all the source code, and the graphics library
with this release. You'll find it in the SOURCE.ZIP file. It's there
just in case someone wishes to look at it. I will not answer any email
regarding the code, and it is provided without any warranty. If you find
something useful in the code, you are allowed to use it in your game. All
I ask is to be credited somewhere visible in your work.

Oh yes, if you've played the RPGDX compo build of the game, and would like
to use your old save file, just put it in the DATA directory of this version
of the game, and run the SAVECNVT.EXE file. It will convert your old save,
so that it can work with this version.
