Short Command Documentation for Serpents Domain.

Feel free to print this with notepad or wordpad if you use windows.


north=moves you north
south=moves you south
east=moves you east
west=moves you west
train=trains you when you are in a training hall or guild
wield= Wields a weapon in your inventory, also will exchange 1 weapon for
another - in example you can wield a staff and then buy a sword and wield it,
if you do this your staff will be swapped for your sword,
get= allows you to pick up valuable items like diamonds, etc that you find in
the forest & dungeons.
drop=allows you to drop an item from inventory to the room your in.
inventory=gives you a list of items your carrying.
help=gives a short help file, not as good as the dox your reading
examine=a command thats in the game but not used.
kill=kill a monster. in example, kill mouse. Use the first name to kill the 
monster. in example if you run across a runt dragon, type kill runt dragon,
and not kill dragon, or you will not even hit it.
ring= used to ring bell in the arena so you can earn experiance & gold
buy=allows you to buy armor,weapons,healing & potions in the appropiate shops 
type buy in weapons & armor shops, buy healing or buy potions in the general
store.
wear=used to wear the various armour you get from the armour shops, works 
like wield command
statistics= shows you how well you are doing in the game, experiance point,
hit points, and stuff like that
save game= will save the game and where you are at.
read= used to read signs, in example read sign
say= not used in this version, but may be used in the future
talk=used to gain information from some npcs. in example talk hercules
sell=used to sell old armor & weapons to their appropiate shops, also used to
sells diamonds you find and others to the general store for gold
eat= not used yet
enter=used to enter the cave that the runt dragon guards
move=not used yet
exit=used to exit dungeons
drink=used to drink potions.
break=not used yet
pour=not used yet.
water=not used yet
load=has two functions-used to load game or load macros made with make macros
only load macros or load game work
make macros-allows you to assign your F1 to f10 keys as "hot keys" for faster 
typing. When you begin a new game the F1 key is always "Help" 

Changes in Beta 2a - I removed the bushwhacking monsters that ambushed you
if you stayed in one area too long. This is the VGA version of Serpent's
domain so it is much prettier. I'm releasing this to the public also, feel
free to play with the code but give me credit if you use it. Also ,the
longer you play, the more items you will find while exploring. Always save
your game since I left in the part that will not allow you to run from any
monsters when they are in the same room as you. If you have alot of money,
buy a few potions in case you meet the runt dragon. I may pick this game up
before the winter is over and work on it some more so keep watching the
Qbasic forum for newer versions.

Bugs in this version, Once in a while it will say you didnt hit the monster,
yet the monster will die anyway. I will fix this later hopefully. 


Changes in Beta 1B - at Neal Franzen's urging I changed the Gong in the
arena to a bell, and renamed my saved game routine so that it wont conflict
with Neal's program save in case you are running both our programs in the 
same directory. if you want to use your same character from beta 1a or
earlier read this. Just rename the file called CHR.DAT to SERP.DAT. If you
used an earlier version read below where to find CHR.DAT.

Changes in Beta 1A
Added Potions that cost 50 gp and heals you back to you total hit points,
also fixed a bug in the Dungeon.

IMPORTANT CHANGE!=made it so your character is now saved to the current
directory instead of the c:\ directory. If you want to use an old character,
move or copy the file called CHR.DAT from the c:\ drive to the directory you
unzipped Serp1a.zip to.

Clues to playing-
the longer you play the more apt you are to find Diamonds,ingots, etc in the
forest and town area. Equip yourself early with the best armor & weapons you 
can buy. buy healing if you are in town and buy potions if you are exploring
a long way from the town. The most important thing is don't ring the gong
more than once unless you know you can handle it, because once you are in a
room with a monster, the game will not let you run away anymore, so its a
duel to the death.
