GEMWORLD MANUAL Copyright 2000 William O. Cain

INTRODUCTION

GemWorld is 256-color VGA, overhead-style adventure game. I wrote the
majority of the code after taking only one year of high school Pascal. It is
my first full-fledged 256-color game, but it lacks sound-card sound effects
and music, features that I intend to include in future endeavors.

GemWorld is freeware! Feel free to let friends and family try this product,
as long as it includes all of the files listed in PACKLIST.TXT.

INSTRUCTIONS

GW.EXE is the executable program; SAVEGAME.DAT is a data file that contains
information about your saved game.

Please consult the 'Help' provided within the game for specific information
about game controls and the objective; you can access Help by pressing 'H'.

BUG FIX for version 1.03, 9/6/2000

Here is the better fix for the same bug I fixed in version 1.02. Now there
are no timing problems either. Thanks to:

BUG FIX for version 1.02, 9/5/2000

A bug in the Turbo Pascal implementation causes problems for most programs
when run on new, fast computers, such as the Pentium II 233 MHz. This
version of GemWorld uses a simple patch to correct the problem. I will
release an updated version with a better fix soon.

BUG FIX for version 1.01

I fixed a minor graphical bug that happened whenever you used your sword
near the edge of the screen. It used to leave some stray pixels behind, but
now it doesn't.
