                         THE WRATH OF SONA ENGINE
                              EVENT SCHEDULER

The EVENT SCHEDULER in the Sona Engine controls most of the dialogue, and all
cinematographies. This scheduler works upon a one-dimensional array that is
500 bytes long. We don't use entry 0 for those of you who are wondering.

Event 1 is set at the very beginning of the game. When the game is started,
the intro message is played. This will not occur again.

Released in beta 0.17 was the ability to manipulate the event scheduler within
the game itself. While playing, hit ESC, go to Variables, press ENTER, and on
the Variables Screen hold SHIFT and hit E. Now, you'll be in the Event
Scheduler Options screen. You can see the truth table, reverse an event entry,
and set all events to either true or false. You must take GREAT caution in
setting all events false. If you do this, I strongly recommend resetting entry
1 to true, or else on the next load the engine may crash. The reason for this
is because the ETX file that is loaded the next time may not contain a BEGIN
label.

Reversing an entry is relatively safe, just be careful of what you reverse.
Reversing certain events are going to render other events useless. If event
71 requires event 64 to be TRUE and event 64 is FALSE, then you may run into
an execution problem. Usually, events are chained together, and breaking that
chain...well, you figure it out. =) In reality, you cannot do harm with this
method, but things can go quite haywire!

Use the ETX commands EVNT and KILLEVNT to set events within ETX files. Do not
confuse these tags with DOEVNT, which calls upon a hardcoded sequence, usually
to start a cinematography or special battle.

Confused yet?

Well, this is a lot more complex than I can explain it, so just be cautious of
the event scheduler. It is the most powerful feature in any RPG engine, and if
botched, can really screw things up...

TOTAL EVENT LIST

For those interested in what event represents in the current build, here's a
complete list. Note that this list will grow as the game grows. Also, keep in
mind that this works with <EVNTnnn> and not <DOEVNTnn>.
