the War Planets CD is placed in the drive. If AUTOPLAY is disabled on your
computer, or if the Setup program does not appear after a short while, click
the "Start" button, select "Run" and click the "Browse" button.
Double-click the War Planets CD, double-click the "w95setup" folder,
then select "SETUP.EXE" and click "Open". Then click OK and follow the
installation instructions as they appear on your screen.

If you have less than 16 MB RAM, exit to DOS (click "Start", "Shutdown",
"Restart the computer in MS-DOS mode") and follow the DOS installation
   instructions.

The program will allow you to choose the type of installation and the
location the game will be installed to.

Shortcuts will be added to the "Programs" menu (Click "Start", then
"Programs") in the folder that you specify. The following shortcuts will be
   created:

War Planets - Age of Chaos Play the game.

   Windows 95 Installation Types

      COMPLETE
Copies ALL files to the specified location. The CD is not required
to play the game after a FULL install. Uses the most hard drive
         space.

      TYPICAL
Copies all files except the movie files. The movies are left on the
CD, therefore the CD is required to play the game.

      MINIMUM
Leaves the movies and graphics data files on the CD. Uses the least
amount of hard drive space, but CD is required to play the game.

      CUSTOM
Allows you to choose if the movies and/or data files are installed.
You can use this option to install the movies only, which should
         increase movie playback performance.

If the movies are copied to the hard drive, movie playback performance may
be increased. If the graphics data files are copied to the hard drive,
loading delays while playing the game will be minimized.

A progress bar is displayed while the files are being copied, and a
completion message will display when the installation is finished.

After the files are copied, the War Planets setup program will be run.

Other versions of Windows

If running Windows 3.0, 3.1, or 3.11, exit Windows (In Program Manager,
click "File" then "Exit Windows") then follow the DOS installation
   instructions.

DOS Installation
If running DOS, change to your CD-ROM drive (at a DOS prompt, type D: then
press ENTER, where D should be replaced with the letter of your CD-ROM
drive), type CD\ and press ENTER, then type INSTALL and press ENTER.

The program will allow you to choose the type of installation and the
location the game will be installed to. You may not install to drive A or
   B.

   DOS Installation Types

      FULL
Copies ALL files to the specified location. The CD is not required
to play the game after a FULL install. Uses the most hard drive
         space.

      MEDIUM
Copies all files except the movie files. The movies are left on the
CD, therefore the CD is required to play the game.

      MEDIUM (movies on HD)
Copies all files except the graphics data files. Use this option
instead of the first MEDIUM choice if you are having movie playback
problems. Leaves the graphics data files on CD, therefore the CD is
         required to play the game.

      MINIMUM
Leaves the movies and graphics data files on the CD. Uses the least
amount of hard drive space, but CD is required to play the game.

(You
can also run the setup program by typing WPSETUP and pressing ENTER at the DOS
   prompt.)

WPSETUP

This program is used to select the best video mode for running War Planets,
and to select and configure your soundcard.

The best video mode will automatically be detected, and a planet will be
displayed on a starfield background. The question "Is the planet
flickering?" is also displayed. If the planet appears stable (not
flickering noticeably) press 'N', and the Sound System Configuration
Utility will begin. If the planet is flickering or nothing displays, press
'Y'. If there are other video modes available, a new mode will be set, and
the planet will be displayed again. If the planet is always flickering, or
if no valid video modes are detected, an error message will be displayed,
and War Planets will not be able to be run.

Sound System Configuration Utility - Main Menu

Select and configure digital audio driver - Choose your soundcard using
this option. Press ENTER while hilighted and you will be shown a list
of soundcards. The card hilighted is probably the one that you have, so
just press ENTER to begin configuration. If you know the type of
soundcard you have and it is not hilighted, select it using the arrow
      keys then press ENTER.

Test Digital Playback - Plays a test sound to determine if the soundcard
         is configured properly.

Reverse Left/Right Stereo Channels - Use this if the sound played in the
test was heard in the opposite speakers.

No digital audio - Select this to clear out your soundcard settings, or
         if you have no soundcard.

View Windows 95 Configuration - This will display only if WPSETUP is
running under Windows 95. It displays the settings that Windows 95
is currently using for your soundcard and can be useful if you are
         having trouble configuring.

Done - Saves the soundcard settings and exits the Sound System
         Configuration Utility.

Configuration Menu (displayed after selecting a soundcard)

Attempt to configure sound driver automatically - Use this option to
configure your soundcard automatically. This works in almost all cases,
if you selected the correct soundcard. If you know you selected the
correct soundcard and autodetection does not work, try manual
      configuration.

Skip auto-detection and configure sound driver manually - Only use this
option if you know your soundcard settings and automatic configuration
      is not working.

Select a different sound driver - This backs up one menu level to allow
you to select a different soundcard. If you are having trouble
configuring your soundcard, try "Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100%
compatible" or "Creative Labs Sound Blaster Pro or 100% compatible".

      Help - Displays help.

After configuring your soundcard and exiting the Sound System Configuration
Utility, the WPSETUP main menu is presented. This allows you to run the
video setup and/or sound setup again.

get to the help screen by clicking on the button marked with a question mark
   (?).

Saving a Screen Shot

Press F7 to save a PCX image of the screen. The image is saved in the
directory that the game was installed in as PWARxxxx.PCX, where xxxx is the
   image number.

High Score Screen

You can view the high score screens by clicking the button marked with a
star. Click through to display each mission's highest score, best time and
   top players' average mission scores.

Choose Your Name

To add a new player name, click the ADD button and a new name entry will
appear at the bottom of the name list. Using up to 15 letters, type in
your player name and press ENTER. War Planets: Age of Chaos can store up
   to 20 player names.

The currently selected player name is hilighted in orange. Use the up and
down arrow buttons to change which name is currently selected. Also, click
directly on a name to select it.

To delete a player name, select it and click the DEL button. Press the "Y"
key to confirm that you want to delete the name. There must be at least one
name in the list. To replace a name when it is the only one in the list,
add the new name, then delete the old name. After selecting a player name,
click the NEXT button to continue.

Choose Your Planet

Click on the arrow keys to move the planets around their orbit into view.
The planet you choose will zoom closer into view and the planet's name will
appear beneath. Each planet has different types of vehicles and weapons to
choose from. Choose a planet and click the NEXT button to continue.

Choose A Mission

This screen displays a list of available missions. This list is determined
by the planet you selected on the last screen. The currently selected
mission is highlighted in orange. To select a mission, use the up and down
arrow buttons or click directly on the mission title.

The missions must be played in order. A mission can only be played after
the previous mission has been successfully completed. If a mission is not
yet available, its title is dimmed out and it cannot be selected.

A brief description of the currently selected mission is displayed at the
bottom of the screen. After selecting a mission, click the NEXT button to
   continue.

HINT: Play the training missions until you are familiar with the game.

Mission Description

This screen gives you a detailed description of the mission, including the
story and mission objectives. The mission usually involves protecting an
object or destroying an enemy target. In a more elaborate mission, you may
   be responsible for both.

The description includes a graphic simulation of the upcoming battlefield.
Targets that need to be destroyed are shown in purple. Targets that need to
be protected from enemy forces are shown in light blue. The location of
your telepad and your enemy's telepad are also shown.

Click the NEXT button to continue.

Hologram Viewport (Outfitter)

Use this screen to outfit your forces with the different attackers.
Statistics and information for each attacker are provided, including armor,
weaponry and speed. Some tips and tactics are also included.

Each different battle unit (attacker) is represented by an icon near the
bottom of the screen. Use the arrow buttons or the arrow keys to scroll
through the different units. Or click directly on the icon to select a
   particular unit.

Each unit has a teleport energy cost. This is the amount of energy it takes
to teleport the unit to the battlefield. The difficulty and objectives of
each mission determine the amount of teleportation energy units that you are
credited. The energy is represented by a long green bar near the right side
   of the screen.

Any unused teleportation energy units will add an energy bonus to your score
when you've successfully completed the mission.

   Add Selected Attacker

Click the ADD button or use the UP ARROW to add one of the selected
attackers to your deployment (if you have enough teleport energy left).
You cannot add an attacker when that attacker's count is at its MAX
value (see line above the count). Also, you cannot LAUNCH a battle with
      no attackers in your deployment.

   Delete Selected Attacker

Click the DEL button or use the DOWN ARROW to remove one of the selected
attackers from your deployment. The teleport energy that was used for
this attacker will be returned to your total energy supply. You cannot
launch a battle with no attackers in your deployment.

   Clear Deployment

Remove all attackers from your deployment by clicking the CLEAR button.

   Basic Deployment

Basic deployment is a standard selection of battle units for your
mission. Click the BASIC button or use the SPACE BAR to select the
basic deployment. This is a quick way to get into a battle. However,
basic deployment is not necessarily the best choice for every mission.

   Easy Mode

The strength of the enemy attackers is greatly reduced when the game is
in Easy Mode. The game is toggled between Easy Mode and Normal Mode by
clicking on the button marked with E .

After choosing your deployment, click the LAUNCH button to begin the battle.

Battle

You will start the battle with your view centered on your teleport pad.
This is where all your vehicles will enter the battlefield. The enemy is
already on the move, advancing towards your teleport pad or, depending on
   the mission, towards your targets.

   Reserves Deployment Window

Click the right mouse button on the teleport pad to bring up your
reserves display. On the left are icons representing the attackers you
have at your disposal. On the right is the number of reserves left.
When you use up the reserves of a particular attacker, the field is
      blank.

Scroll freely with the mouse to choose your vehicle. When the icon is
highlighted over the attacker of your choice, press the left mouse
button to transport the ship onto the battlefield.

You cannot teleport a new vehicle in until the previous one is clear of
the teleport pad. Once the vehicle has moved completely off the pad, a
"telepad ready" sound signals that another unit can be teleported in.

   Auto-Teleport

Pressing the 'T' key during battle will toggle auto-teleport on and off.
Auto-teleport will teleport the next reserve unit once the pad is clear.
This is a quick way to bring numerous units onto the battlefield.

   Playing War Planets

After an attacker has teleported in, it will sit on the pad awaiting your
orders. Select the attacker with the left mouse button. It becomes
highlighted with a damage report bar.

The damage report bar is initially full green. When an attacker is hit,
its shields first absorb the energy of the enemy fire. As the shields
go down, the green indicator will shorten. When the shield power is
depleted, the attacker is destroyed. A flashing damage report bar
indicates that the attacker is nearly destroyed.

   Moving

Point the crosshairs where you want your attacker to move and click the
right mouse button. A sound will play, letting you know that the order
was received. The attacker will attempt to move to the destination and
      stop once it arrives.

If you told the attacker to move off of the battlefield, it will move to
the closest point that is still on the battlefield. If you told the
attacker to move into an invalid sector, it will make a few attempts to
reach the point, then stop moving.

   Firing/Attacking

Click the left mouse button to command the attacker to fire in the
direction of the crosshairs. You may find it useful to aim shots
slightly behind target to make sure they don't fall short.

Holding down the ALT key while firing will command the attacker to
destroy a target. The attacker will move into range of the target and
will continue to fire on the chosen target until either the target or
the attacker is destroyed, or until you issue a new command to the
      attacker.

Inactive attackers will automatically return fire when an enemy comes
within range or when an enemy begins to attack it. Be careful placing
your attackers because they will fire at an enemy even if another
friendly unit is in the line of fire.

Another method of attack is ramming the enemy. Your attacker must be
moving into the enemy vehicle or it may take the damage. The amount of
collision damage depends on the ramming vehicle. For example, an Ice
flea will cause very little contact damage while the Beast darkwhaler
will quickly destroy even the toughest tank.

   Navigating the Battlefield

Pan to a different sector of the map by moving the cursor to the edge of
the screen. Panning is disabled while the SHIFT key is held.

Pressing the SPACEBAR will "pop" the display to your telepad. This can
be useful for deploying many attackers to a distant sector.

At any time, press F1 to pause the game and bring up a help screen.
Press F1 again to resume the game. Pressing ESC pauses the battle and
can be used to abort the mission. An aborted mission is considered to
be failed, even if the mission objectives have been met. Pausing a
battle, using either F1 or ESC, will have no effect on mission time.

   Radar

Press F2 to toggle the radar on and off. The radar display appears in
the upper left corner. You can use this display to keep track of
battlefield progress and to keep from getting lost when navigating from
      screen to screen.

The sector that you are currently looking at is highlighted in white
while sectors which you cannot enter are marked with an "X".

In the radar display, the color of an object identifies it:

         Object Type Color

         your units green
         enemy units red
projectiles including mines and planes yellow
targets you need to destroy purple
objects you need to protect blue
         other objects gray

   Battle is Over

A mission that involves destroying a target is completed only when ALL
targets are destroyed. A mission that involves protecting a target is
completed only when ALL enemy attackers have been destroyed, and is
failed as soon as any ONE protected target is destroyed.

When the mission is over, either with a win by you or by the enemy, it
will be announced and displayed on the bottom of the screen. No more of
your ships may be teleported in and your remaining troops must return to
      the teleport pad.

Once you've destroyed all enemy units, press 'T' to order your troops to
      return to the teleport pad.

Battle Results

When a mission is over, you are returned to the briefing area for mission
results and a battle summary. This includes the number of units you lost
and the number of enemy units you destroyed. Notice the total time it took
to complete the mission. These statistics, along with the teleportation
energy bonus, determine your final score which is also displayed on this
   screen.

If you reached a high score or a record time, you can view it on the high
scores screen, where it will be highlighted in orange.

To return to the mission chooser, click the NEXT button or press ENTER.

Click the PLAY AGAIN button or press ESC to reload the previous mission and
   try it again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUXILIARY MISSIONS

Auxiliary missions are "bonus" missions that may become available as mission
packs or on our web page for download.

After auxiliary missions are installed, the "AUX" button appears on the
mission chooser screen below the high scores button. When the "AUX" button
is depressed, the list of standard missions is replaced with a list of all
available auxiliary missions. Also, the high scores screens display the
scores for the auxiliary missions. Note that different auxiliary missions
may be available based on the planet that you have chosen to play as. A
maximum of 20 auxiliary missions can be installed.

You choose and play an auxiliary mission just as you would a standard
mission, but the auxiliary missions do not need to be played in order --
ALL auxiliary missions are available at all times.

The "Is planet flickering?" question is only there to let you confirm the
graphics mode that was detected. In most cases, the planet will NOT be
flickering. Try answering "N" to the question, unless the flickering is
      very severe.

If you never saw a planet but keep getting the "did you see a planet?"
   question:

If you are running under Windows 95, try exiting to DOS and running
      WPSETUP again.

Your video card may not be supported. Try loading a VESA driver
(contact the manufacturer) or try using SciTech Display Doctor at
      http://www.scitechsoft.com/.

If you keep getting the "WPSETUP cannot be run from the CD" message:

Make sure you are not trying to run from the CD.

If you have tried everything, you know your card supports VESA, but are
   still having problems:

If you still cannot get War Planets to detect your video card, change the
first line of pw.cfg. Using a text editor (NOTEPAD under Windows 95, or
EDIT under DOS), open pw.cfg, and change the 0 on the first line to 1.
Do not change anything else in the file. Save the file, then try
      running WPSETUP again.

Trouble Configuring Soundcard

If you keep getting a "Digital Sound Hardware Not Found" error message when
   trying to detect your soundcard:

After selecting "Select and configure digital audio driver" use the card
that is hilighted unless you are certain that the card hilighted is not
the card you have. The best way to reinitialize the autodetection
process is to select "No digital audio" then exit sound setup. You can
immediately re-enter sound setup and "Select and configure digital audio
      driver".

After selecting a card, use "Attempt to configure sound driver
      automatically".

If you are running under Windows 95, use "View Windows 95 Configuration"
to see what settings Windows is using, then duplicate these settings.

Try selecting "Sound Blaster or 100% compatible" for your card type,
unless you are positive that your card is not Sound Blaster compatible.

Make sure your soundcard is working in other applications. If not,
consult the documentation for your soundcard or contact the manufacturer.

If you have an Ensoniq or ESS soundcard, a War Planets driver update may
be available to correct the detection problems. Check our web page:
http://www.trendmasters.com. In the meantime, select "Sound Blaster" or
      "Sound Blaster Pro".

If you are hearing no sound in either the game or with the "test digital
   sound" function, make sure:

The speakers are plugged in and turned on if applicable and the volume is
      turned up.

If under Windows 95, make sure the volume control is set correctly, and
the "Wave" output is not muted.

Try selecting "Sound Blaster or 100% compatible" for your card type,
unless you are positive that your card is not Sound Blaster compatible.

If you are hearing sound in the "test digital sound" function but not in the
   game:

Make sure volume is not 0. Press F4 while in the game to increase the
      volume.

If the sound was normal in the "test digital sound" function but sounds
   garbled in the game:

If you have an Ensoniq soundcard, a War Planets driver update may be
available to correct the detection problems. Check our web page:
http://www.trendmasters.com/. In the meantime, select "Sound Blaster" or
      "Sound Blaster Pro".

If you are not getting stereo sound (the "left channel", "right channel",
and "both channels" sound playback in the "test digital sound" function is
   the same):

Select "Sound Blaster Pro or 100% compatible".

Your soundcard may not support stereo sound.

If you are hearing a lot of "clicking" while sounds are playing:

This problem has been seen on some systems that use an ESS chipset,
which is not properly detected. When "Sound Blaster" or "Sound Blaster
Pro" is selected for these cards, the sound "clicks" at times. This
problem should be corrected when an updated War Planets sound driver for
      the ESS cards becomes available.

If you are still having problems, your soundcard may not be supported.
   Soundcards supported by War Planets:

      InterWave (TM) Digital Audio
      NVidia-compatible multimedia accelerators
      Roland RAP-10 card
      Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum
      Gravis UltraSound
New Media Corporation WaveJammer(TM) Digital Audio
      Ensoniq SoundScape(TM) Digital Audio
      Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) Sound System or 100% compatible
      ESS AudioDrive chipset (ES1688, ES1788, ES1888)
      Sound Blaster or 100%-compatible adapters
Sound Blaster Pro or 100%-compatible adapters
      Sound Blaster 16, AWE32 or AWE64

Error Messages

If you get the message "mouse not detected" when running the program:

A mouse is required to play War Planets, and the mouse driver must be
loaded before starting the game. Consult the documentation for your
computer or mouse for instructions on how to load the appropriate mouse
      driver.

If you keep getting the message "PW.CFG file not found -- run INSTALL again"
   even after you've successfully installed:

Make sure you are not trying to run the game from the CD. The game must
be run from the directory on your hard drive that you installed to.

If you get a message that contains the word "allocate" in it and are kicked
   out of the game:

War Planets is running out of memory. Make sure no other programs are
running (if running under Windows 95) or no large memory-resident
programs are loaded (if running under DOS).

If you get a message that says "could not find _____" or something similar
in it and are kicked out of the game:

One of the necessary data files has been deleted. You should reinstall,
or you can copy the named file from the War Planets CD to your hard
drive. (If you do this, the file must go in the correct directory. If
      in doubt, reinstall War Planets.)

If you get a message that says "error writing to ____" or something similar
in it and are kicked out of the game:

War Planets could not update a data file. The drive that War Planets is
installed to may be full or nearly full.

If you see the opening logo animation, it fades to black, then locks up
   with a black screen:

Edit the pw.cfg file (open it in NOTEPAD if running Windows 95, use
EDIT PW.CFG if running DOS) and change the "1" in the fourth line to a
"0". (Do not change any other parts of the file!) A "0" on the fourth
line will stop War Planets from fading to black.

Trouble when playing the game

If you are seeing a lot of "flicker" in the game (attackers, planets,
   etc.):

Run WPSETUP again, and choose "Video Setup". Make sure you only answer
"Y" to "Is the planet flickering?" if it actually is flickering.

If the game "locks up" (mouse pointer will not move, can't quit program or
change screens), you are running under Windows 95, and your system has 16 MB
   RAM:

Make sure no other programs are running, close any windows that may be
open, and remove any wallpaper images from your desktop. (All of these
things free up a little more RAM for War Planets.) If you are still
having problems, you can edit the pw.cfg file (open it in NOTEPAD) and
change the "0" in the third line to a "1". (Do not change any other
parts of the file!) A "1" on the third line will force War Planets to
run in a low-memory configuration. If you are still having problems
running War Planets from within Windows 95, exit to DOS, or create a
shortcut to run War Planets in MS-DOS mode. Consult your Windows 95
manual for the procedure for creating shortcuts.

If the game is too slow:

You can turn off the radar display (F2). This should speed up the game
      a bit.

You can try changing the maximum number of simultaneous sounds. Open
pw.cfg (using NOTEPAD or EDIT) and change the number on the second line.
Valid values are 2-12. Lower values may cause the game to play a bit
      faster.

If you are running under Windows 95, try exiting to DOS or setting War
Planets to run in MS-DOS mode and see if there is a speed increase.

If there are long load times between screens, or if panning in battle occurs
   only after a long delay:

If during installation you chose to leave the data files on the CD, try
reinstalling and choosing an installation option that will copy the data
files to your hard drive. (Under DOS: The "Maximum" and "Medium"
options install the data files to your hard drive. Under Windows 95:
The "Complete" and "Typical" options install the data files to your hard
      drive.)

If you are running under Windows 95 and have 16 MB RAM, try exiting to
DOS or setting War Planets to run in MS-DOS mode.

If you are running in DOS and have 16 MB RAM, try loading SMARTDRV.
Consult your MS-DOS documentation for information on SMARTDRV.

If the mouse pointer moves too slowly (or too quickly):

Use the F5 key to slow down the mouse, use the F6 key to speed up the
      mouse.

If the sound is choppy or dropping out, or if parts of the screen don't
redraw correctly during full-screen movie playback:

If during installation you chose to leave the movies on the CD, try
reinstalling and choosing an installation option that will copy the
movies to your hard drive. (Under DOS: The "Maximum" and "Medium
(movies on HD)" options install the movies to your hard drive. Under
Windows 95: The "Complete" option installs the movies to your hard
drive, and the "Custom" option can be used to install the movies as
      well.)

You may be able to improve this problem by decreasing the size of the
movie playback window. While a movie is playing, use the minus key
("-") to decrease the playback window size. You can increase the window
size (if it is not maximum already) using the plus ("+") key while a
      movie is playing.

If you get the message "please replace the War Planets CD" even though the
CD is still in the drive:

Make sure the CD-ROM is not dirty or scratched and make sure your CD-ROM
      drive is not dirty.

If your monitor flashes and/or clicks before and after full-screen movies
   play:

This is normal. All monitors do this when changing video modes, some
are just more obvious about it than others.

If you are having trouble hitting enemy attackers even though your cursor is
   on one of the enemies:

Try aiming slightly behind the enemy attacker. (Think of the cursor as
the point where your projectile will hit the ground when fired.)

If your attackers are just standing around even though an enemy attacker is
   firing near them:

Your attackers will not shoot at the enemy until it is within range, and
each type of attacker has a different range.

If your attackers keep shooting each other:

They will do that. Try to position them so they have a clear shot at the
      enemy.

If your keyboard has those "Windows 95 logo keys" and you keep hitting them
while trying to play War Planets, which results in your game ending:

You need to install the DOSWINKY control for Windows 95. In the DOSWINKY
folder on the War Planets CD there is a file called DOSWINKY.INF. Open
it in Notepad and read the instructions for installing it.

HINTS

General Hints

If you're having trouble with War Planets: Age of Chaos, here are a few
basic strategies that may help you.

Know the battlefield - Check out the battlefield. Know where your telepad is
in relation to the enemy telepad and any objectives that must be protected
or destroyed. Take note of corners that can be hidden behind or large open
spaces that can be used for dodging enemy fire.

Strength in numbers - Even the most powerful tank will get overrun by the
enemy masses without support. Try to get several of your troops onto the
battlefield quickly. Particular combinations of troops can also be useful.
For example, a solo plane launcher won't last long but next to a tank it
   can win a battle.

Line of fire - Once some of your troops are on the battlefield, positioning
them is crucial. The main bulk of the enemy forces will be coming straight
from the enemy telepad. Try to set up a row of troops so that you have
several attackers firing at the incoming enemies. Keep in mind that your
troops will fire at the closest enemy that within range even if a friendly
   unit is in the way.

Defense - If your mission objectives include ensuring the safety of some
object or component, place some of your forces between the enemy telepad and
the object. Some of the enemy troops have been ordered to annihilate the
objective first and foremost. They will ignore your forces and head towards
   the objective.

Battle fronts - It is easy to be concentrating on one sector and not notice
your forces being obliterated in another. Try to keep an eye on the entire
battle and the condition of all your troops. Use the radar to help you keep
track of your attackers and the enemy.

Take control - The currently selected attacker is under your direct control.
It's range and rate of fire are slightly increased. Use this to your
   advantage.

*WARNING*:

The following pages give specific strategies for each mission. Read them if
you are having trouble completing a mission.

The Palladium Mines of Katar

Quickly deploy several troops to form a firing line. Use the speed of the
hovercraft to get it into position quickly. Follow up with the firepower of
   the 'dozer tank.

Kolos Power Station

Set up heavy artillery to defend the power generators. The enemy attack is
broken into two waves. In between the waves, use fast vehicles to attack the
ice telemetry beacon. Be prepared for the final Kryos assault, and try to
have a few units close to the enemy telepad to take out the plane launcher
before it has a chance to launch.

Cryo-unit Evacuation & Salvage

Dodge quickly. The Darkjet mobile launcher will start by strafing your
hovercraft. If you act quickly, you can move the hovercraft out of the way
and attack the Darkjet launcher. Quickly bring out more vehicles and
troops to provide backup and build a defensive firing line.

The Plasma Pumps at D'Nether

Form a defensive wall of troops between the advancing enemy and the pumping
station. Constantly bring out reinforcements from your reserve. Try using
the mine seeder to slow the enemy advance.

Chlorophyll Processing Plant

Quickly position a Shredder tank or a War Dog between the pods and the Ice
attackers. Bring in more forces and place them in a protective ring in front
of the chlorophyll pods. You will still have room to use remaining troops to
weaken the enemy advance from the side. Watch for the Ice jump jet carrier
at the end of the assault. Destroy all the enemy forces before attacking
   the radiation capsule.

D'Praeen Training Base

Setup your defenders in the narrow pass. This is the most defensible
position on the battlefield. You will have to occasionally send a few
attackers forward to deal with a Darkjet Launcher.

Iczizor Weapons Depot

Place your jump jet carrier behind the barrier of the ice shards so that the
planes will weaken the enemy as they approach your base. Use the rest of
your forces to clean up on the weakened foes as they approach. Always
   protect your plane launcher!

Ice Drone Rescue Operation

The initial wave of enemy forces consists mainly of drones. Use this time to
set up a defensive line to cut off the enemy's advance. Watch out for the
enemies guarding the fleas, and do not wander into their range. It is risky
to free the captured fleas before all the telepad enemies are destroyed.
Do not shoot the holding pen gate until the Dark Whaler has been destroyed.

Ice Crystal Discovery

Deploy a plane launcher quickly, but give it protection. Send a few units
to guard the power crystals and use your quicker troops to draw enemy fire.
Advance your troops when time permits. Your forces (including your plane
launcher) should be fairly close to the enemy telepad before the last wave
   of War Dogs appears.

Shield Generator Subnet

At the start of the mission, several drones are already in a fire fight.
While the survivors distract the enemy, bring in more forces. Deploy a
plane launcher early, and move your more powerful units to the left of the
shield generator. In one of the breaks between waves, move your plane
launcher closer to the enemy telepad (to the right and above the shield
generator) to minimize the time that planes spend flying. Put a few units
in front of the plane launcher to protect it.

Military Prison Sentry

Because only foot soldiers can move inside the cell block, your greatest
advantage in this mission is the Dark Lord. Make sure you add 2 Dark Lords
to your reserves. Deploy the Dark Lords first, and move them between the
enemy telepad and the containment barrier. Bring other units in to provide
backup. With 4 or 5 units in place, the enemy will not be able to get near
   the barrier.

Communication Relays at Zorax

Make sure you have a Darkjet launcher, several tanks, and a few Dark Lords
in your deployment for this mission. First position your Darkjet launcher
behind the closest target near your telepad and let it do its work. Place
tanks between the enemy telepad and the nearest comm dish, since their long
range will handle oncoming advance. Place Dark Lords between the two comm
dishes to wipe out what's left. Make sure you take out the enemy plane
launcher as soon as it appears. Destroy the Ice jamming device last.

Cargo Reconnaissance

You should have at least one long-range unit available for this mission.
Position your troops in front of the cargo containers. Focus your firing on
the more powerful enemies such as the 'dozer tank.

Rock Weapons Demolition

The long range of Krag's 'dozer tanks make this a difficult mission, but the
secret is patience. Let the Rock forces come to you. The first few waves
of enemies can be eliminated easily but then comes the wave of 'dozers. You
might need to pull your troops back behind the corner to cut off the
effectiveness of the 'dozer range. Hopefully you have enough surviving
forces for a final mass assault on the guarding tanks. Position your
tougher vehicles in front and rush the enemy with all of your forces. While
the front line absorbs the tanks' missiles, move the rest of your forces
within firing range and destroy the enemy. Once the tanks are eliminated,
the power couplings are easy prey.

Covert Bio-Weapons Assault

Make sure you have a few long-range units, and one or two fast-moving units
available for this mission. Bring in a few powerful attackers to deal with
the advancing War Dogs. Next, you need to set up a firing line in the corner
just above the enemy telepad. Focus your fire on the more powerful enemies
before they can wreak havoc on your troops. The bio-weapon tanks are quite
volatile and one or two shots can set off a chain reaction.

Surgical Strike on D'Praeen

Patience is important to the success of this mission. Set up a defensive
position in the corner near your telepad. Fight off the enemy horde from
here. If you try to advance too early, your forces will be decimated in
the enemy crossfire. Wait until the enemy is out of reinforcements before
dealing with the dendrite nerve centers.

Raid on Secret Ice Facility

Unless you have a plane launcher, you will not be able to destroy the Ice
jump jet carriers on the other side of the chasm, but destroying the plane
launchers is not necessary to complete the mission. Set up your more
powerful units just beneath the telepad, out of the Ice planes' range. Use
your faster vehicles to draw fire and take out the guarding enemies. Once
a few targets are destroyed, you can rush the remaining targets with the
   remainder of your forces.

Operation: Core Meltdown

Your troops are instantly under attack. Quickly take control and attack the
Ice Dervish. After destroying the Dervish, move towards the jump jet carrier
at an angle. This allows you to get the carrier in range while dodging.
Bring in the remaining troops and take control of the fence by moving
your attackers right next to it. This provides them with cover and they can
fire through at the enemies. The Kryos troops attack in waves. Use the
pauses to completely destroy the gate and send soldiers in, one or two at a
time. Try to destroy a few computer consoles, retreat, destroy a few
consoles, etc. If you don't complete your mission before the final wave of
Ice reinforcements, you'll have a fight on your hands.

Devastator Nuclear Strike

First you need to take out the Darkjet Launcher/Dark Tank combo. Distract
the planes with a fast vehicle and use heavy artillery to eliminate the
tank. Once destroyed, there will be some time to set up two lines of
defense, both facing the enemy telepad. It will be easier to set up one
stable defense before attempting the second. There are many defended
targets, so sneak up on the Dark troops with long range artillery. Do not
be distracted by the large number of targets; get your troops in position
first or else you'll be easily overrun.

Planetary Claw Sabotage

Assemble a large squad of powerful attackers. Slowly advance while fighting
off the enemy troops. Keep bringing out more attackers to replace those that
have fallen. However, if you advance too slowly, your forces will be at the
mercy of the Beast Planet's final attack: Darkjet launchers.
