If your game won't run: Booting clean also temporarily eliminates
memory-intensive RAM-resident programs such as SmartDrive.
- Making a Boot disk...
2. FORMAT A:/S/U

"Note: if you have a third-party memory manager..."
- If you have EMM386.EXE as your memory manager, do not load it during a
clean boot or on your boot disk.

Soundcard problems
- How to find out which Sound Card and Settings to choose in the Sound and
Music setup:
1. Revert to MS-DOS mode.
  a. From Windows 3.xx, exit Windows. Do NOT click on the MS-DOS Prompt icon.
  b. From Windows 95, click START, highlight PROGRAMS, click MS-DOS Prompt.
2. Type SET <Enter> at the DOS prompt.
3. Look for:
        SOUND=
        BLASTER=

   e.g., SOUND=C:\SBPRO
         BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4

In this example, the Sound Card is the Creative Labs SoundBlaster Pro.
The Sound Settings are I/O Port Address 220, Interrupt 5, and Direct
Memory Address (DMA) 1. So, in the Sound and Music Setup, the choices
for this example would be SoundBlaster Pro with the settings of Port 220
IRQ 5 and DMA 1.

Note: a large number of cards are compatible with the Creative Labs
SoundBlaster Pro with the settings of Port 220, IRQ 5, and DMA 1. Use
this sound card choice and settings if all else fails.

- The hard drive space needed when using the Virtual Memory utility included
with the game is 7.2 megabytes in addition to whatever space your
installation already takes.

  caught.
- Add an empty team (EMPTY.HB5) which can be imported to create new teams.
- Improve computer fielding positions in some very deep old-time stadiums.
- Add more sound card entries for Compaq Presario and Reveal sound cards.

- Computer does not seem to swing at balls outside the strike zone or take
  strikes often enough.

- Some users find the computer gets too many hits and too many runs.
- It's sometimes difficult to move a fielder over a small amount to catch
  a drifting fly ball.

  to buy each team.

toggles this feature on and off).

- Speed up changeup pitches slightly.

The following are enhancements made to the game after the original manual
was printed:

- Manager Options -- When the computer is controlling your fielding, you can
override and take control by pressing Button 1 whenever you want to jump
  into the action.

the man on base. Press F3 to toggle this feature on and off. Press Button 2
to display pitcher and batter player cards.
- Editing a Player -- Highlight the "Picture" option and press <Enter> to
disable digitized name and player photo.

Special note to Gravis Ultrasound owners: Despite our repeated attempts to
get Gravis and HMI to fix the problems which cause the GUS to work only in
mono mode, Gravis has yet to address this problem.

The GUS Max does not suffer from the same problems as the GUS.
