1. Installation and Start

1.1 Installation for Windows 95

If autoplay is activated under Windows 95,
a small program called F1-Runner will auto-
matically be accessed when the CD is
inserted. This program helps you to install
F1 Manager Professional, to start the readme
text, etc..

If autoplay isnt activated, the "F1RUN.EXE"
program can be started from the CD from
the Windows Explorer.

The Setup program will install F1 MANAGER
PROFESSIONAL to the directory you select,
and sets up an icon in the Windows 95 start
bar, which you can use to start the game.
You will find the icon, to start F1
MANAGER PROFESSIONAL in the start bar under
"Program / Software 2000"

Before you can start the game, you have to
install your soundcard. Therefore you have
to start "Sound Configuration" from the
F1-Runner.

1.2 Installation for DOS or DOS Box under
Windows

For DOS - Installation start the program
"INSTALL.EXE" on your CD-ROM.

The program will be installed after you
have selected the targetdrive and directory.

When all files are copied to your hard-
drive, you can install your soundcard. When
the soundcard isnt installed properly F1
MANAGER PROFESSIONAL will run without
Soundeffects.

Your can start F1 MANAGER PROFESSIONAL,
by starting "F1" in your target directory.

1.3 Trailer and DirectX

DirectX is only required for playing the
trailer.

3. Problems

3.1 Problems considering the graphic
initialisation

Often the use of "UniVBE" guarantees
you a better performance than drivers
of hardware manufacturers

You can purchase UniVBE via:

www : http: \\ www.scitechsoft.com
ftp : ftp.scitechsoft.com
CIS : GO SCITECH
AOL : keyword SCITECH

3.2 Black screen straight after the start

In the event of your computer showing up
a black screen immediately after having
started the F1 MANAGER PROFESSIONAL,
your graphic board is not compatible with
the video player used by us. In this case,
please start the game with the parameter
"NOVIDEO" in order to prevent the start
of the video player.

3.3 Video running errors in some graphic
boards

On some graphic boards errors concerning
the colour palette might occur during the
video sequences. These colour problems on
Matrox Millenium or Matrox Mystique boards
can be solved by using a newer BIOS
(Millenium 2.0 onwards/ Mystique 1.4
onwards).

You can receive a new BIOS for the above
mentioned Matrox board via:
www : http: \www.matrox.com

3.4 Smartdrive, EMM386

Usually the installation of SMARTDRIVE
speeds up the program enormously. Al-
though, occasionally problems might come
up: computers with 16 MB RAM should, by
no means, have a regulation of the
hard-disc cache above the standard value
2 MB. In this case the cache needs to
be reduced to 2 MB or lower.

If the program keeps crashing, check
whether in CONFIG.SYS you have loaded the
programs SMARTDRV.EXE or EMM386.EXE. These
tend to cause problems in connection
with some drivers.

3.5 Sound effects

For the release of sound effects you have
to make sure that your sound card is
properly adjusted. This is usally done
during the installation. If the regulations
considering your sound card have changed
after installation, you can adjust the
sound regulations of the F1 MANAGER PRO
with the help of the program "SETSOUND"

If you haven't adjusted "SETSOUND"
correctly, your video sequences might crash.

3.6 Window size

With Windows 95 the F1 Manager PRO only
runs in full picture mode. In case the
program starts in a window, press the
key combination ALT + ENTER to attain the
full picture.

If the program starts in a reduced manner,
press the button "F1" in the START border
of Windows 95.

3.7 Multiplayer

With 16 MB RAM in a multiplayer game, you
shouldn't use a high texture quality for
the race. This can cause crashes.

3.8 Hard-disc size

In case of not having enough memory capacity
on your hard disc, the program won't be
installed correctly. The error message
"DOS4GW ERROR" might appear while starting
the program. You should then create more
memory capacity. If you start the program
under Windows 95, remember that Windows
needs space to evacuate.

3.9 A new start after a crash

If the program once has crashed under
Windows 95 and you have started it again,
the CD might not become recognised. In
this case you will have to start Windows
again from the beginning and the program
can be started without problems.

3.10 ALT-TAB + "CLOSE"

In the unusual case of closing down the
program under Windows, the above mentioned
(chapter 3.9) error could also appear.
