                                  HINTS

LEVEL 1 - Approach the main entrance cautiously- there are two "stationary"
guards at the front gate. Trigger the switch in the guardhouse on the right
to open the gate. Watch out for "roaming" guards in the courtyard. Some of
the barrels in this area contain explosives. A carefully timed shot at one
of these barrels can cause it to explode and take out one or more guards in
the process, saving ammunition. The two "locked" doors inside the courtyard
are inaccessible at this point in the game, so head toward the entrance to
the west, where two more stationary guards are posted. This is the main
entrance to the underground complex. On your way back through this level (at
the end of the game) this entrance will be sealed by an impenetrable steel
door. The other two (locked) exits, however, will now be accessible. One
contains extra grenades. The other contains a rocket launcher and 8 rockets.
Watch out for one stationary guard posted in each of these rooms. You will
also encounter multiple new roaming guards in the courtyard. Trigger the
switch in the guardhouse on the right to re-open the main gate. Additional
new roaming guards are patrolling the desert surrounding the complex. The
rescue helicopter will be waiting in one of four spots (northeast, norhtwest,
southeast, or southwest), and this location will vary from one game to the
next. Each of these four positions is guarded by two enemy vehicles waiting
to fire at you when you are within range, so be careful.

LEVEL 2 - Beware of roaming guards in the first large room that you enter on
this level. Use the brick columns for cover. The door to the south is locked
and requires a gold key. Go to the door on the other end of the room (which
is unlocked), go down the corridor and turn right. Enter the first door on
your left, but watch out for the stationary guard on the right as you enter
the room. Find the green key, which is needed to access all of the other
rooms in this part of the complex. Go back out to the corridor and head west
until you come to two more doors. The one on the left leads to the security
office. Here, you will find one shotgun in the gun rack on the east wall.
Watch out for the roaming guard stationed in this room. Across the hall is
a storage area patrolled by four additional roaming guards. In the back room
you will find 4 grenades and a radar pack. Now head back down the corridor
past the first room that you entered, all the way to the other end, where
you will find two more doors. The door on the right is another storage room
containing four roaming guards. Look for the bombs and the protective armor
vest in this area. The door across the hall leads to the guard's mess hall
and sleeping quarters. It is patrolled by roaming guards. Find the gold key,
and make use of the first aid kits in the bathroom. Now head back to the
door that required the gold key, but watch out for new roaming guards on the
way through the "columned" room. This door leads to the entrance for the
next level. On your way back through this level, you will encounter
additional new roaming guards. The original entrance will be sealed off, so
use one of the newly available exits on either side of the room.

LEVEL 3 - Watch out for two stationary guards just around the first corner
as you enter this level. Ride the elevator down to the main part of the
underground complex - the chemical weapons factory. The first room contains
several roaming guards. The next room contains additional guards, as well as
a "radiation chamber" which holds 4 Slime Gun refill cartridges. Don't enter
this chamber unless you are carrying extra first aid kits, since you will
most certainly suffer severe radiation damage. The switch that shuts off the
radiation is behind a locked door that requires a red key, which is not
available until you reach the lower levels. You can safely retrieve the
Slime Gun cartridges on your way back if you have this key in your inventory,
so it might be a good idea to just leave them where they are for now. Move
on through the next room and go through the door leading to the large "tank"
room. There are several additional guards in this area - use the crates for
cover. On the other end of this room you will find a corridor leading down
to the next level. On the way back through this level, watch out for new
roaming guards in every room.

LEVEL 4 - From the central corridor, enter the first room on the right.
Watch out for the roaming guards patrolling this room. Turn left at the
other end of this room and go through the "brain storage" room. Watch out
for roaming guards, as well as the stationary guard on the right as you
enter. Go through the door at the other end of the room and get the silver
key. Now go back to the central corridor, to the first room on the left. It
contains several stationary and roaming guards. Make use of the first aid
kit, but watch out for the guard hiding behind the cabinet. There is also
one guard waiting in ambush just inside the adjoining room. Two other guards
are working at a counter in the back. Get the copper key from this room and
then head back to the central corridor. Go to the next room on the right.
This room contains several roaming guards. Items found here include 2 Slime
Guns, 2 Slime Gun refill cartridges, 1 first aid kit, and 3 Gas Grenades.
Don't use the Gas Grenades until you have aquired a Gas Mask from level 6.
Pick up the bronze key before you leave. The final door off the central
corridor leads to the next level. On the way back through this level, watch
out for multiple new roaming guards in the central corridor.

LEVEL 5 - Move quickly to the central console and take cover. There are 6
roaming guards on the other side. Be careful not to fire your weapon in the
direction of the large bubbling chemical tanks on either side of the room
or the glass will shatter and you will be killed instantly be toxic
chemicals. Climb the ladder and go through the door on your left. The room
at the end of this corridor contains 3 roaming guards. Be extremely careful
firing your weapon in this room. If you aim in the direction of the chemical
tanks, they will shatter and you will be killed instantly. Go through the
door at the end of the room and retrieve the blue key. Now head back down
the corridor to the "chemical pool". Here you will see a catwalk leading
across the pool, and several large "vats" suspended from hooks. Starting on
the right, move around the vats alternately from left to right using the
"1" and "3" keys on the numeric keypad. Be careful not to move to close to
the edge of the catwalk, or you will fall into the pool and be killed
instantly by toxic chemicals. Once you reach the other side, you will see a
door leading to the next level. On the way back, you will encounter multiple
new roaming guards on the other side of the central console.

LEVEL 6 - Go to the end of the entrance corridor. There is a stationary
guard on the right as you enter the first main room on this level. Once
again, be careful not to fire your weapon at the chemical tanks on either
side of the guard or they will shatter, and release toxic chemicals. There's
a stationary guard on each of the exterior platforms alongside the chemical
"river". On the left platform, you will find a First Aid Kit.On the right
platform there is an additional Shotgun. Now go across the bridge to the
other side of the river. Watch out for the guard hiding behind the crate to
your left as you descend into the "dock" at the other end of the bridge. The
door at the end of the corridor is locked and will not be accessible until
later on in the game. To the right of this door is a room containing a First
Aid Kit, and a Gas Mask (which allows you to use Gas Grenades without being
affected by the gas). Watch out for one stationary guard across the room as
you enter. To proceed to the next level, you will have to crawl through the
ventilation shaft located in the "dock" area. First find the "crowbar",
which is needed to pry the grate off of the shaft entrance. Now use the "0"
key and the up arrow key to jump onto the crates and reach the ventilation
shaft. Select the crowbar from your inventory and use it to pry open the
grate. Crawl through the ventilation shaft to the next level. You will
encounter multiple new roaming guards on your way back through this level,
near the entrance corridor at the other end of the bridge.

LEVEL 7 - From the level 6 ventilation shaft, you arrive in a small storage
room containing first aid kits, machine guns, and some grenades. Move
cautiously into the main corridor - there are 2 guards posted at the
entrance to the main control room. The room across the hall is locked, so
proceed down the hall to the door where the guards were stationed. This
room contains numerous roaming and stationary guards. Climb the ladder up
to the platform and get the red key. Now come back down and enter the door
in the southeast corner of the room. Follow the corridor to the next door.
There are 2 more guards stationed on either side of the room as you enter.
The vault door can only be opened by an explosion from a bomb or Grenade.
A bomb is preferable, since it can be positioned precisely in front of the
door and detonated from a safe distance. The interior of the vault is
protected by 2 "electric eye" laser beams. It is possible to jump over the
beams without setting off the alarm using the "0" key and the up arrow key.
If you do happen to set off the alarm, you will have to negotiate several
"electrified" security gates on the way back to the surface, however, these
gates can be easily destroyed with one blast from any weapon. Once inside
the vault, pick up the computer disk with the "I" key. Hit enter to clear
the on screen message and proceed back out to the "locked" door off the main
corridor. You will encounter numerous new roaming guards in the corridor and
2 stationary guards posted just inside the entrance to the corridor that
leads back to level 6.

                              GENERAL TIPS

1. Maneuvering through the 3-D world - Use the mouse for slow, precise
movement (peering around corners, maneuvering around objects). Use the arrow
keys for fast movement over large areas (running, jumping, etc...). Use both
in combination - the arrow keys for forward/backward movement with the mouse
as a "steering wheel".

2. First Aid Kits - Whenever possible, try to carry extra First Aid Kits in
your inventory for emergency situations (First Aid Kits can be "picked up"
and added to your inventory when your health = 100 %). Also, try to leave
some First Aid Kits in place and save them for the return trip.

3. Don't carry unecessary objects in your inventory. During the course of
the game, you will encounter more objects than you are able to carry. Try to
determine which objects will no longer be needed and discard them to make
room in your inventory for new objects.

4. Use bombs to set "booby traps" for enemy guards. You may aquire up to 4
bombs during the game. Save one of these to blow open the vault on level 7
and retrieve the computer disk. Place the other 3 in strategic locations
during your descent into the complex, then detonate them on the way back,
when enemy guards are within range.
