	EGGRAPH2.DAT - Graphics data file
	EGGRAPH3.DAT - Graphics data file
	EGGEXPL.DAT - Graphics data file

The following files should also have been included in EGGHUNT.ZIP,
without them Alien Egg Hunt will still run but not to the fullest
    extent:

	EGGREC0.RC0 - Demo of a recorded game
EGGHUNT.ICO - An icon for use in Windows
	README.TXT - This file

B. Installing Alien Egg Hunt
============================

1. Run INSTALL.BAT.
2. The default directory is C:\EGGHUNT. If you wish to change this
select the Change Directory option by highlighting it and pressing
<ENTER> and replace the existing name with your new one.
3. Begin the installation by selecting Install Alien Egg Hunt. Let the
    computer do it's job.

C. Running Alien Egg Hunt
=========================

Run EGGHUNT.BAT in your Alien Egg Hunt directory. DO NOT run Alien Egg
Hunt from inside QBasic unless you are sure that the working directory
is your Alien Egg Hunt directory.

D. Playing Alien Egg Hunt
=========================

Alien Egg Hunt is likely one of the easiest games to learn that
you will ever play. Simply chase the eggs around the screen in your
UFO while dodging missiles and dynamite blasts. It may be simple, but
it offers a real challenge to the expert player.

CONTROLS:

Arrow keys: move ship
Alt Q: quit the game in progress
Alt P: pause, press any key to resume
Alt R: record on, off (see section E for how to record games)
Alt S: screen shot (see section F for how to take screen shots)
Alt X: turn the sound on/off

E. Recording and Viewing Your Games
===================================

In Alien Egg Hunt, you can record your games and then play them back
whenever you want. This way you can keep a copy of your best games
and show them off to your friends. Recording your games is simple,
just follow these steps:

1. While you are playing press Alt R.

2. You will be prompted for a name for your game file, type in a name
and press ENTER when done. This name will be used to identify your
recording when you wish to view it later on. NOTE: The name you
enter will NOT be the DOS file name, for this reason it can be up
    to 20 characters long.

3. Play the game just like you normally would. When you want to stop
the recording press Alt R again. A message will appear at the
bottom of the screen that reads "RECORD OFF", this indicates that
the file has been successfully recorded. Don't worry if you lose
all your lives before you stop the recording, the game will stop
recording automatically when your game is finished.

When you want to view the recorded game just follow these simple steps:

1. From the main menu select VIEW RECORDING.

2. When the list of recorded games comes up, select the recording that
you want to view and press ENTER.

3. Watch and enjoy.

If you want to delete a recorded game follow these steps:

1. From the main menu select VIEW RECORDING.

2. When the list of recorded games comes up, select the recording that
you want to delete and press DELETE.

NOTES ON RECORDINGS:

-Cheat codes are not available when you are recording a file,
if a cheat was being used when you started the recording it
	  will be turned off.
-Recording files are saved as EGGREC[number].RC[number] files.
Do not rename a recording file, if you do Alien Egg Hunt will
not be able to find it.
-Although you can delete recordings from your operating system
it is recommended that you do it from inside Alien Egg Hunt.
-If you get the error message "NO ROOM FOR RECORDING" you will
have to delete at least one recording file to make room for
the new one. This error will only occur if you have more than
1000 recordings so it is unlikely that it will cause you any
	  trouble.

F. Screen Shots
===============

You can take screen shots of your game while playing Alien Egg Hunt.
Just press Alt S any time while you are playing Egg Hunt or viewing
a recorded game. Egg Hunt will take a picture of the current scene and
save it to a bitmap file.

NOTES ON SCREEN SHOTS:

-When you here a beep, that indicates that the screen shot was
	  taken successfully.
-The screen shot will be saved as a 16-colour bitmap file. The
original file name will be SCSHOT[number].BMP. It is
recommended that you change the file name to something you
can recognize, otherwise Egg Hunt may start overwriting old
screen shots if it runs out of file name options.
-If you get the error message "NO ROOM FOR SCREEN SHOT" you will
have to delete or rename at least one of your previous screen
shots to free up room for the new one. This error is not
likely to affect you since it only occurs when you have taken
100 screen shots without deleting or renaming any.
-The screen shots taken by Alien Egg Hunt are exactly what was
in the playing field at the time. They are true bitmaps and
thus can be viewed in any bitmap viewer (such as Microsoft
Paint) or used as your Windows background. I am currently
using an Egg Hunt screen shot as my Windows background and
I find it creates a nice space scene when tiled.

* The speed of missiles and eggs is measured in pixel per frame. That
is, how many pixels the object moves on the screen from one frame to
the next. For reference, your ship can travel up to 10 pixel/frame.

H. Troubleshooting
==================

The only serious problem you may encounter is an error message stating
that a certain data file cannot be found. The easiest way around this
is to reinstall Alien Egg Hunt. The problem could have been caused by:
	- changing the name of your Alien Egg Hunt directory
	- moving a data file from your Alien Egg Hunt directory
	- accidentally deleting an Alien Egg Hunt data file
	- running Alien Egg Hunt in QBasic

If you don't hear the sound effects:
	- do you have an Adlib-compatible sound card? It is required
for the sound effects and music.
	- is your sound card set up properly? (check the sound card's
	   user's manual for this)
	- are your speakers turned on?
	- do you have speakers?

Two other error message are "NO ROOM FOR RECORDING" and "NO ROOM FOR
SCREEN SHOT". These problems are easily solved. To do so follow the
instructions provided in NOTES ON RECORDINGS and NOTES ON SCREEN SHOTS
respectively. These notes are found in section E on recordings and
section F on screen shots.
