The BoneVille "I have 5 minutes to write this" Document File
------------------------------------------------------------

The Game :
--------

I decided to write a game for the x2ftp game contest, and picked
this as what I would do. I got the basic idea from a game I used
to play when I was in about grade 8 and was on an XT, but the game
was a super-addictive kind of thing. I think it was called Styx,
but I'm not sure about that.

So on and off over the last 2 months I've been working on Boneville.
I didn't know it was going to be called that until a few of days
ago...just don't ask. ;) It was pretty solid code until about 2
days ago when I realised I had a hell of a lot left to do and not
    a hell of a lot of time, so hey, you're a beta-tester!

Anyway, that's about all the background I'm going to give you. I
can't say if I captured whatever Styx had or not, because I only
finished making the levels for it about half an hour ago and I
haven't played them myself...I know...play em at your own risk!
Originally there was going to be around 10-15 levels, but hey, I
wanna sleep, so 3 will have to do!

The instructions in the game don't really tell you much. The
most obvious thing missing is a description of what the enemies
etc in the game do to you. Sorry 'bout that, but once again,
time is a bit too short.

The music files (mod format) that are included with this game
came from the ftp.cdrom.com demos archives. All the 4 songs
included are by Airon Jayder, who's music was just perfect for
this game. (or I think so anyway!). Thanks heaps Airon!

System Requirements :
-------------------

You gotta have : 386+, VGA, about 1MB Hard Disk Space
You'd wanna have : 486DX33 or up, Sound Blaster, Mouse,
                            and somewhere around 1MB memory

Well, I have only really tested it on a couple of other computers,
but it was developed on a pretty old 486-DX33, with a bloody slow
video card (so I discovered while making BoneVille!).

On a pentium the timing is probably going to be all wrong, but I
just chucked in a check that should limit it to around 50 fps, so
it shouldn't get too out of hand.

The sound system used is Varmints Audio Tools, which is in my
opinion (and lots of other people - except one guy, which we won't
mention cause he's a fool) an excellent sound library! It only
supports sound-blaster so far, but that should do most people.
See the credits in the game for the authors email addresses.

Legal Stuff :
-----------

Umm, yeah, insert standard disclaimer. This software may be
freely distributed over electronic networks and BBS systems.
However, you are not allowed to distribute this on a CDROM or
other media without my written permission. The express exception
to this is for the X2 Support Group and any CDROM they may
produce that contains a collection of the entries to the X2FTP
    Game Programming Competition.

Contacting Me :
-------------

If you want to contact me for any reason at all, who knows
why you would, but go for it. (This excludes reports of
    Boneville destroying you computer etc)

Until the end of Febuary 1996 you can email me at :
