Solitaire Antics for DOS Version 1.0.

This file documents additions or changes to the Solitaire Antics
manual.

Running in another video resolution:
------------------------------------

Solitaire Antics for DOS runs in 256 colors and supports several
different video resolutions. If VESA support is not installed, only
the 320x200 mode is available.

To run in: Type the command (at the system prompt):
320 x 200 SA -320 (runs on all VGA cards)
 640 x 480 SA -640 (requires 512k video memory)
 800 x 600 SA -800 (usually requires 512k - may require 1 Meg)
1024 x 768 SA -1024 (requires 1 Meg video memory)

WARNING: Some monitors do not support resolutions higher than
640 x 480. If you're not sure about your monitor, PLEASE DO NOT
USE THE HIGH RESOLUTION MODES as they may permanently damage your
monitor.

Changing your VESA (video card) settings:
-----------------------------------------

If you have added a VESA driver to your startup file (AUTOEXEC.BAT),
you may want to delete the two lines surrounding the SOL_DOS line in
the SA.BAT file found in your Solitaire for Antics for DOS directory.

To change VESA settings in any other way, you need to run INSTALL.EXE
found on Disk 1.

Changing your sound settings:
-----------------------------

Run SETUP.EXE in your Solitaire for Antics for DOS directory. Follow
the directions on screen.

Turtle Beach Maui users:
------------------------

We've noticed some problems with notes sticking on the Maui card. They
will eventually turn off, but it can be kind of annoying so you may
want to use the your main card for MIDI playback.

WARNING: If you are playing animations back to back with the animation
hotkey and two notes get stuck at the same time, the game can lock up.

Make sure to run SETUPSND.EXE each time you run Solitaire Antics for
DOS. The easiest way to do this is add a line similar to the following
line to the top of your SA.BAT file in the Solitaire Antics directory.

  C:\MAUI\SETUPSND.EXE /a330 /i15 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\OSMAUI.MOT

Substitute the proper paths, Port (after /a), and IRQ (after /i) for
your setup. Normally a line similar to this will be placed in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file by the Maui installer. If so, just copy that line to
your SA.BAT file.

  *** Sample edited SA.BAT ******************************************

  C:\MAUI\SETUPSND.EXE /a330 /i15 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\OSMAUI.MOT
  SOL_DOS.EXE %1 %2 %3 %4 %5

  *******************************************************************

VESA driver installation lines may have been placed before and/or
after the SOL_DOS line in your SA.BAT file by INSTALL.EXE.

Hard Disk Space:
----------------

If you're running out of hard drive space, it's possible to delete
parts of Solitaire Antics without causing the program to stop
working. Substitute the correct directory name in the following
commands if you didn't use the default directory name during setup.

Delete the Solitaire Antics animations to free about 1400k:
   DEL C:\SOLANTIC\*.ASA

Delete the Solitaire Antics background bitmaps to free about 1000k:
   DEL C:\SOLANTIC\*.BMP
