Introduction

When I started playing keno, I thought to myself wouldn't it
be great if I could play at home, and not lose any money
(albeit I can't win any money!). I looked around the BBS's
and ftp sites and didn't find much. So I decided to write
my own keno game, the way I would like it. I hope you like
     it too.

General Keno Rules

Keno is similar to our old favorites, bingo and lotto. In
keno, there are 80 ping-pong balls labeled with a number
from 1 to 80. A person usually picks 1 to 15 numbers from
the 80 and bets $1. 20 different numbers are then picked from the
lot. If you match enough numbers, called a catch or hit, you win money.

Requirements for Keno Simulator

     - 286 or faster
     - VGA Color
     - Microsoft Compatible Mouse
     - Optional: Adlib compatible soundcard

How to Play

To start Keno Simulator simply type: KENO

Once the program starts it will autodetect for a soundcard
and will show my boring little intro screen. You may hit a
mouse button to stop looking at it. The keno board will
     then appear.

     Choose Numbers
You may choose up to 15 numbers. Simply put the
mouse cursor over the number you wish and click a
mouse button. Both buttons work. If you change
your mind about a number, simply click on it
again. You don't have to choose any numbers if
               you so desire.

     Change Bet
Go to the up and down arrows in the bet window.
Press the left button to change the bet by 1, or
the right button to change your bet in increments
of 10. Holding the button down will continue to
raise/lower your bet. When you release the button
your pay table will be updated.

     Start the Game
When you have picked your number(s) go to the play
button and click the mouse. The numbers will be drawn
and highlighted. If you hit a number, it will change
to a light pink. If you miss a number it will be shown
as a darker red. As you hit numbers, the pay table in
the right corner will be updated as necessary to show
          your current winnings.

After the twenty numbers are drawn, you will get a
message at the middle of your keno card indicating
whether you have won or lost. To continue click a
mouse button. If you hold the mouse button here, some
numbers will become green. These numbers are the ones
that have been drawn the most times. Some people bet
these numbers as a method, so I thought it would be a
nice feature. After you release the button you will
see that you still have the same numbers you picked
          previously.

     Clear
When you click on clear, all numbers you have picked
will be cleared. One can also clear the card by
          clicking on every number selected.

     Payoffs
The pay table in the upper right side of the screen
shows the payoffs for certain hits. The total you have
picked is shown at the top with it's payoff, and
decrease down to the minimum hit to get your money
back. As you play, the pay table will be highlighted
          to show your winnings.

     Stats
Clicking on the stats button will give you a screen
with a set of 80 numbers. These are the number of
times each number has come up minus the smallest hit
number. So if 45 had only come up 4 times and
everything else had come up more times with 69 hitting
          24 times, 45 would be labeled 0, and 69 would get 20.
The worst hit numbers are in red, the most hit numbers
are in green, the rest are white.

Clicking on a mouse button again will give a bar graph
of the same statistics. Click on the mouse button
again to get back to the game.

     End Game
The game will end if you click on the quit button or
your money pot goes negative. In the registered
version you will be able to go to the ATM to withdraw
          more cash.
