NOTES ON THE TONY LA RUSSA BASEBALL II 1992 PLAYER STATS DISK

This disk actually contains two separate leagues, and it's important to
understand the way in which each is set up.

1992 LEAGUE:

The first league, called (appropriately enough) "1992", includes all the
players who appeared for each team during the 1992 season, up to the limit of
40 men per franchise. Players who changed teams during the year appear on
the team for which they played the most.

In rare cases such as that of David Cone, who impacted the pennant races in
both leagues, we have divided his stats between his two teams, so he appears
on both the New York and Toronto rosters with the correct stats in each
place.

The 1992 League lets you replay last season, making your own changes in your
favorite teams, and using your managerial strategy to guide the home team
to victory.

PRE1993 LEAGUE:

The second league is called "PRE1993", and in it three things have been done:

1) All the trades, free agent signings etc. that occurred between last season
and mid-March of 1993 have been made. Canseco now plays for Texas, Cone
for Kansas City, Bonds for San Francisco, etc. Their stats are from 1992.

2) The new teams created by the expansion draft in Florida and Colorado have
been given the correct players with 1992 stats.

3) The promising rookies for 1993 have been added to the correct teams.
Instead of their actual 1992 stats (with only a few at bats or innings
pitched), they have PROJECTED 1993 STATS entered in the database. Please
note that projecting stats for minor leaguers entering the majors is a very
imprecise process, and you may find the predictions to vary greatly from
    what happens in real life.

The PRE1993 League is really a work in progress. If you are a big baseball
fan, you may want to use the TRADE function in the game week by week, to move
players who are traded early in the 1993 season. You can enter your own
projected stats for players, and make all the changes so the real 40-man
opening day rosters are reflected in your database for the game.

So long as you understand that predicting the future with baseball stats is
much less scientific than recreating the past, you should have lots of fun
anticipating the outcome of the 1993 season.

Consistency and Leadership:

The player stat screens have been altered to give two new categories.
Consistency depicts how minor outside influences can affect a player's
performance throughout the season. Experience depicts how a player can
affect the performances of the other players on his team. Both ratings
are based on a 1-12 scale, 7 is the average and the higher the rating
the better.

All players on the 1992 MLBPA Players Disk have been set at 7 in the above
ratings, but you should edit them as you see fit.
