Antarctica - The Hot Cold War

Campaign Background

Due to the irrelevance of many national governments, international agreements on Antarctica have
been widely abused for more then forty years. Tensions arose six months ago after a Mitso-Haachi
krill-harvester foundered in the Weddell Sea. All but one of the crew perished because Richteur
International refused to launch a rescue attempt until their costs had been guaranteed. While within
their rights, Richteur have extensive fishing interest which were being harmed by the presence of
Mitso-Haachi shipping.

Two weeks later, a Richteur exploration rig exploded, killing one hundred and fifty men. Shortly
afterwards, a Richteur research submarine was found on the ocean bed, apparently having lost all
power. The crew were all dead.

For their part, Mitso-Haachi have warned all Richteur personnel to keep away from their property.
They have also announced that their harvesting efforts in the 'free seas around Antarctica' will
be re-doubled. War has not yet been declared, but the two sides are hiring specialist personnel.

Your contract is with Richteur International, for a total of nine missions, in and around Antarctic
waters.
