Went to the Strand to ask at G.H. Harris's Boot and Shoe Shop
whether they could confirm the purchase of a pair of Brown
Boots by Sir Henry Baskerville on Tuesday. I intend to check
every detail, so that I am not caught out by Holmes again,
as I was with Mortimer's stick. They remembered Sir Henry and
the sale. 
My suspicious mind has seized on a number of unexplained
mysteries - the receipt of the printed letter; the black-
haired spy in the hansom; the loss of the new brown boot; the
return of the new brown boot.  The list of suspects includes
the Barrymores of Baskerville Hall, Perkins, the groom, and the
scullery-maid; the two moorland farmers; our friend Dr. Mortimer
and wife; the naturalist Stapleton and his sister, said to be
a young lady of attractions; Mr.  Frankland of Lafter Hall;
