"Now, Watson," he said, "I think that we cannot employ our time
better than by calling upon your acquaintance, Mrs. Laura Lyons."
His plan of campaign was at last beginning to be evident.  The
baronet would himself be convinced that we were in London and would
thus convince everyone else.  The telegram that Cartwright was to
send in Holmes' name from London would remove the last suspicion
from Sir Henry's mind. Our quarry would not suspect that we should
actually return at the instant when we were likely to be needed.
We found Laura Lyons in her office. Holmes asked her directly why
she had withheld information about her rendezvous with Sir Charles,
and demanded to know what was the connection between her request to
meet Sir Charles at his gate at ten o'clock at night and the
circumstances that this was the place and hour of his death.
