with Mrs.  Lyons, and my curiosity about her evident evasiveness. 
He showed intense interest, and explained how this information filled
a gap which he had been unable to bridge in this most complex affair.
He then explained to me how he was sure there was an intimacy between
Laura Lyons and another.  They meet, he said, they write, there is a
complete understanding.  He said much more, that I found it hard to 
believe, but he assured me that my own researches had shed a light on
