My Dear Holmes,
What can I tell you that will not offend your severely practical
mind? I still remember your complete indifference as to whether
the Sun moved around the Earth or the Earth moved around the Sun!
You wish to know facts of the case, but I would welcome some
response to my letters. I understand your preoccupations in London,
but since it was yourself that persuaded me to venture into the
miserable isolation of Devonshire, much against my will, I trust
that you will soon be persuaded that this case merits your
earliest attention.
