^C^IRescue Rusty from the Invasion of the Dog Snatchers

If you were to gaze out into the galaxy with your portable Hubbell on a
clear night, you might see far off in the Canis star constellation - a
few hundred light years away - the faint twinkle of Cur, a strange and
mysterious planet populated by Curlings.

All Curlings walk on four legs, have tails and actually look very much
like dogs. Indeed the most popular Cur cuisine is la bone prepared in
a number of interesting ways like Shin a l'Orange or Metatarsal Cajun
style. Weekends you'd find fanatical Curlings at stadiums watching
their national teams playing the favorite Cur sport of Chasing Cars.

While Curlings have a pretty easy life (sleeping, fetching sticks and
barking, on the whole) they've also become a pretty technologically
advanced society thanks to many brilliant Curling scientists such as
Albark Einstein.

In the past century they've developed a sophisticated army of robots -
of all types - who handle all the domestic and industrial chores of the
society as well as military duties. In fact the robots do everything
for the Curlings, and these days, for the Curlings, well it's a dog's
life.

Until last year. One afternoon in a laboratory in East Barkovia, a
young communications specialist named Beagleson was tinkering with a
long range high frequency satellite communications dish when he
accidentally tuned it into an FM frequency and picked up long forgotten
transmissions that had been floating around space for the past few
decades. It happened that the signals were from an unknown planet
called Earth. And the signals were reruns from the Lassie Show.

What a shock to the nation! Curlings viewed these startling shows and
realized that there was a planet where handsome Curlings performed
heroic rescues of strange looking two legged beings.

Word got around that there was a mission many years ago of brave and
adventurous Curlings who boarded a spaceship to explore the universe -
before they built robots to do that kind of dangerous stuff. The
Curling Space Center lost contact with them after four months and the
mission was never heard from again.

Rumors spread through the planet - these Curling pioneers were not lost
forever. They discovered life beyond Cur and populated this strange
green planet called Earth with Curlings. These were their lost
ancestors - living among gawky and awkward animals that walked on two
legs and made strange noises. Creatures that didn't chase cars - but
actually drove them!

Quickly a national referendum was passed. The Curlings voted to send
out an interplanetary probe to find these lost brothers and bring them
back to their homeland. The mission was populated with the finest, most
cunning and daring robots that the Curlings manufactured, the ones with
the longest warranties. Their mission: bring back the lost brethren
and take no prisoners!

Soon the Robotic mission descended on a quiet town on Earth and the
robots began their search for the long lost ancestors of the heroic
Curling space mission.

Just a note about Robots from Cur. One thing the Curlings have never
done is used a Robot to do brain surgery, if you know what we mean.
These Robots may be cunning, they may be daring, they may have 5 year
limited warranties, but they are not what you'd consider to be rocket
scientists.

They've just found your dog Rusty, who was just innocently hanging out
in your backyard waiting for you to play fetch the stick. The robots
gaze upon ol' Rusty and process the data: four legs, long ears, wet
nose, wagging tail, the classic Curling tongue greeting. Yes! It's one
of the Curling heroes they are looking for, So they nab him and take
him to their multi-level space craft.

Are you going to take this lying down? Are you going to get pushed
around by some tenacious tin can tyrants? Is Rusty going to be whisked
away to a strange planet where he'll be treated like some freak in a
circus? Or are you going to go find these mechanical meatheads and take
back Rusty from the clutches of the Curling robots.

^1The Mission: Should You Decide to Accept.

You are smarter than the Curling Robots, but you will be greatly
outnumbered. You will also require the skills to escape dangerous traps
and evade hostile Curling Robots inside the confines of their space ship
in order to rescue your trustworthy dog, Rusty.
