README.TXT FOR MAELSTROM V1.00

Thank you for purchasing Maelstrom, the premiere simulation-strategy game.

Because of the processing and memory requirements of Maelstrom, we
suggest that you run Maelstrom in a "clean environment". This means
that your machine should be configured free of "CPU-hogging" and
"memory-grabbing" TSR's and other programs of the like.

Maelstrom requires 605K of free memory to run successfully. Most
machines do not have this amount of memory available on ordinary start-up.

If you encounter memory problems in running Maelstrom (such as the game
refuses to run), you may need to create a "boot-disk" with which you
can boot your system with. You will want to create a disk which can
boot up your system, but will bypass and not start any of the normal TSR's
that are part of your normal hard-drive auto-execution sequence.

To help you do this, we have included on this disk (disk #1) two sets of
files that will aid you in making a bootable start-up disk.

You will need to first format a MS-DOS 5.x system disk. Your computer
manual will explain how to format a disk if you are unfamiliar with such.

To properly prepare your system disk you will want to do one of the
following, depending on which seems most appropriate:

	1)	For users of QEMM, you will want to copy the following files off
this Maelstrom Disk #1 onto a bootable system disk:

			copy config.000 a:config.sys
			copy autoexec.000 a:autoexec.bat

It does not install your mouse however so you will
need to load that seperately before beginning play.

	2)	If you are not using QEMM, you will probably want to copy these
files off the Maelstrom Disk #1 onto a bootable system disk:

			copy config.001 a:config.sys
			copy autoexec.001 a:autoexec.bat
			copy c:\mouse.com a:\

(You may have to find your mouse.com if it is not on your drive C:).

Now reboot your system with your newly created boot disk and goto
the harddrive partition and run Maelstrom as normal.

This disk that you will have created can be used with other programs
that require a "Clean Enviroment" to operate.

We hope you enjoy the experience of Maelstrom.
Thank you from the folks at Bluth, Testing 123 and P.A.S.
