INSTALLATION

Installing to New Directories
When installing the game, the installation program will
create one new directory. For example, if you wish to install
Global Conquest to a new directory named "Games", type "Games" at
the Destination Path line in the installation program.
The installation program will not create two new directories
for the game. For example, if you wish to install the game to
C:\MPS\Conquest\, the MPS directory must already exist (you can
create a new directory using the "md" command before running the
installation program).

Floppy Disk Installation:
It is impossible to run the opening animation sequence from
floppy disk. When installing to floppy disks, type "N" at the
"Copy Animation" line in the installation program. If you do,
Global Conquest will be installed on one high-density disk. If
you install the game to floppy with "Y" in Copy animation, the
program will be installed to two disks. Disk 1 will contain the
game in its entirety; Disk 2 contains the animation sequence
(which won't work). To play, insert Disk 1 and type "Conquest."

RESTARTING
Restart (Alt-R) the program during the Orders Phase or once
the game has ended. If you wish to end the game during an
Execution Phase, Quit to DOS (Alt-Q) and reboot.

CTRL-ALT-H
Press this key during a game with the cursor over a
Artificial opponent: This turns the control of that force to a
human player to be played on this machine. This was intended for
those times when you're playing and a friend wants to join in.
On the next turn after pressing the key he/she will be given an
opportunity to play.

PLAYING WITH THREE OR FOUR MACHINES
Special Driver1 - This line in the Connect Options loads a multi-
machine protocol that allows you to "host" as many machines as
you have serial ports. With 2 ports (modems or direct serial
connections) you can play with 2 other humans, and with 3 ports
you can have a 4 human game!! (The first computer game from a
major publisher to offer this capability in the history of the
entire world!!)
The other players should use the normal protocol (connect
options: modem/phone, direct serial or existing connection). You
will connect with each of the remote machines sequentially. Your
machine will be the amber player, the first player to connect
with your machine will be cyan, the next magenta, and (if there
is a fourth) they will be ochre. In all ways the game will play
normally, except that you as the host (and the only connection
between all the opponents) cannot disconnect until the game is
finished.
We will be working on other ways to connect to play 4
players (such as LANS and BBS's). If you are interested in these
things feel free to contact us.
