PIXEL PUZZLE MAKER is a utility that allows you to create puzzle pictures
for use with PIXEL PUZZLER-PC. Its easy-to-use interface is a pull-down menu
desktop environment which can be controlled by mouse or keyboard.

When you first access PIXEL PUZZLE MAKER, the KEYBOARD mode is enabled.
In the KEYBOARD mode, program functions are chosen, selected, or aborted with
use of the arrow, <ENTER>, and <ESC> keys.

If you want to switch to the MOUSE mode, open the "?" Menu by pressing
<ENTER>, then use the down-arrow to highlight "Select mouse..." and press
<ENTER> a second time. You can switch between the two input devices any time
 the pull-down menus are active.

CTRL-Key combinations called "HotKeys" can be used to by-pass the pull-
down menus. These keys are listed after each item in the menu.

These are the available program functions:

ABOUT <CTRL><A> -- Brings up an About dialog box.

HELP (F1) -- Brings up the first page of a three-page
Help dialog box. (Selecting CANCEL returns
                             you to the program.)

SELECT INPUT -- Switches between KEYBOARD and MOUSE input
devices. (Not active without a mouse driver.)

LOAD PUZZLE SCREEN -- Loads .BSP, .BSS, .PAK and .PBL screen formats.
               <CTRL><L>

The File Dialog appears as a box containing a list of filenames. Use the
left- and right-arrows to switch between the buttons and the filenames.

[] To create new directories in which to save your puzzles,
type MAKE DIR in the box at the bottom-right of the dialog.
[] To back up a directory, select CLOSE.
[] To change the current drive, select NEW DRIVE.
[] To exit the dialog without taking an action, select CANCEL.
[] To load the file listed in the filename box at the bottom right
          of the screen, select LOAD.

LOAD PRINT SHOP IMAGES -- Loads Print Shop graphic files having the same
<CTRL><G> names and the .NAM and .DAT filename extensions.
This option will also load in The New Print Shop
original graphic files with the extensions .PNM
                             and .POG.

After loading the files, you can select one of the graphics images, view
the next four images or previous four images by using the up- or down-arrows,
or exit the dialog by selecting CANCEL.

You can enlarge the image to one of nine different sizes, or exit by
 selecting CANCEL.

You can also select the foreground and background colors. After choosing
these, you can move the image around the screen using the mouse or the arrow
keys. If you are using a mouse, you can CANCEL the operation by clicking the
second mouse button. If you are using the keyboard, you can press ESC to exit.

SAVE PUZZLE SCREEN -- Saves the current puzzle screen in .BSP format
<CTRL><S> to enable you to enter BrushStrokes for the
                             editing of your puzzle masterpiece.

If you select a name in the directory list (to save a current puzzle over
an old puzzle, for example), a dialog will appear to inquire whether or not
you want to overwrite the existing file. To save a puzzle under a new file-
name, select the filename box at the bottom right of the screen and type in
 the new filename.

QUIT <CTRL><Q> -- Brings up a Quit dialog to allow you to exit
the program. Confirm your decision to exit
                             by selecting YES.

SELECT IMAGE -- Accesses a Print Shop graphic file.
<CTRL><I> Repeat the same sequence of steps as in the "Load
Print Shop Images" function, with the exception
of the selection of the Print Shop file.

CLEAR PUZZLE -- Select from 10 different background patterns
to which you can clear the current puzzle.
To exit with no harm done, select CANCEL.
