"The cat's out of the bag!" Lexi meows.
"Time to strike while the iron is hot!"

You smile. You had forgotten how much
your grandfather's cat loves to speak in
proverbs--sayings that are used a lot.

"I'm ready to save Truism!" you say to
Lexi and your grandfather. "Just tell me
what to do."
*28
Your grandfather explains: "Verbal von
Doom has mixed up all the Proverb
Prescriptions in Truism and his Saying
Spells are controlling the way everyone
behaves! Do you want to see an example?"
*29
Your grandfather leads you over to a
small window. You look out and see the
Truism Elementary School.

Your mouth falls open.

It's 5 o'clock and all the students are
still hard at work! What is going on?
*31
Your grandfather then points to the
baseball field. There is a Little League
game in progress. But something is
terribly wrong! There are only two
players on each team!

*33
What's going on? Has the whole town gone
crazy? The usually cheerful little town
of Truism has become the most gloomy
place you have ever seen!
*34
Your grandfather writes, "You and Lexi
must go to each location in Truism. Find
the mixed-up Proverb Prescription there.
Then bring the jumbled phrases to my
house one at a time.

"Whenever we have two jumbled Proverb
Prescriptions at my house, we can begin
to unjumble them."
*34.1
Grandfather continues to write, "After
we unjumble a Proverb Prescription, you
must take it to the Truism location
where there is a Saying Spell with an
opposite meaning. By speaking the
unjumbled Proverb Prescription out loud,
you can undo Verbal von Doom's evil
work!"
*34.2
"Here's a hint to help you figure out
where the Proverb Prescriptions belong,"
your grandfather writes. "The first part
of the Proverb Prescription will always
be in the location where it will
counteract the Saying Spell. Once you
unjumble a Proverb Prescription, return
it to the location where you found the
first part."
*35
"If you can restore all of the Proverb
Prescriptions in Truism, the town will
return to normal. You and Lexi will be
heroes! Are you ready?" asks your
grandfather.
*36
Your grandfather writes, "OK, I know I
threw a lot at you at once! Let's go
over it together again."
*37.1
"This is what the Proverb Prescriptions
SHOULD say," your grandfather reminds
you. "Type '?' at any time to read this
list."

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK.
ALL WORK AND NO PLAY MAKES JACK A DULL
BOY.
A MAN'S REACH SHOULD EXCEED HIS GRASP.
HE WHO HESITATES IS LOST.
TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE.
ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER.
THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE GREASE.
YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN.
*37
Your grandfather claps his hands. "Let's
get started!" he writes. "Here is a
satchel to hold the Proverb
Prescriptions that you and Lexi find.
And here's a map of Truism to help you
find your way around. I'm going back
home to wait for you. Good luck!"

You leave the train station and find
yourself in the center of Truism.
*39
You enter your grandfather's house with
the Proverb Prescription [CC].
*40
Your grandfather grabs a pad of paper
and starts writing. "Oh dear! You don't
want to change that Proverb
Prescription! It's just fine the way it
is! Return it at once to the location in
Truism where Verbal von Doom has cast a
Saying Spell with an opposite meaning!"
*41
Your grandfather looks surprised. On his
pad of paper he writes in bright green
ink, "Where is your Proverb
Prescription? There are still [CNUM]
more phrases to fix, [NAME]!"

"You bet!" you say. You and Lexi race
out of your grandfather's front door in
search of more jumbled Proverb
Prescriptions.
*41.2
Your grandfather welcomes you into his
house. You notice that there is an
unjumbled Proverb Prescription here.

"Do you want to take this Proverb
Prescription back to Truism?" your
grandfather writes on his yellow pad.
*42
"Good job!" your grandfather writes
excitedly on his pad of paper. "Now we
have two jumbled Proverb Prescriptions.
Tell me which parts need to be
switched."
*44
"Fantastic!!!!!!" your grandfather
writes, adding lots of exclamation
points.

"You've fixed a Proverb Prescription!
Now all you have to do is take it back
to the location in Truism where Verbal
von Doom has cast an opposite Saying
Spell. Cast the cure by saying it as
loud as you can! Only [CNUM] jumbled
phrases to go!"
*45
"Incredible!" your grandfather writes
quickly on his pad. "You fixed both of
the Proverb Prescriptions."

"It was a piece of cake!" Lexi says.

"Return the first prescription to its
proper location," your grandfather
continues, "and I'll return the second
prescription to its location. Don't
worry, I'll find a sympathetic citizen
to help me say the prescription out
loud. Now get going. Only [CNUM] to
go!"
*46
Your grandfather writes, "It looks like
we now have these two Proverb
Prescriptions mixed-up in a different
way. Are you finished swapping the parts
of these two phrases?"
*48
"That's one Proverb Prescription," your
grandfather writes on a new page. "Now
you need to bring me another jumbled
Proverb Prescription so we can unjumble
them."
*49
Your grandfather looks at you with a big
smile and grabs a pencil and paper. Just
as he starts to write, the pencil
breaks.
*49.9
"Now return this mixed-up Proverb
Prescription to the [LOC]--since that's
where the first part of it belongs,"
says your grandfather.

"Right away, Granddad!" you say as you
and Lexi hurry out of the house.
