SPANISH TUTOR is a computer-aided-instruction program for Spanish words
and phrases. Brush up on your Spanish by studying the 100 words and phrases
and learning their translations. When you feel you have mastered the language,
go to the "Test Your Knowledge" section of SPANISH TUTOR.

 ^1Main Menu^0

Press any key at the title screen to display the Main Menu. The Spanish
 Tutor Menu has these features:

                                  Learn Spanish
                              Test Your Knowledge.
                                      Help
                               Exit Spanish Tutor

To choose an option, move the highlight bar with the <UP> arrow key or
<DOWN> arrow key to the desired option. Press <ENTER> to select an option.

 ^1Learn Spanish^0

After the Main Menu moves to the left, a pop-up screen asks you to select
either Words (<W>) or Phrases (<P>). After selecting either words or
phrases, the menu moves to the left and the Learn Spanish Window is displayed
on the right side of the screen. This window contains two sections:

      1. Word/Phrase List (upper portion of the window)

      2. Translation Line (lower portion of the window).

The Word/Phrase List contains words (or phrases) to translate and a
highlight bar. Up to ten lines are displayed at once. Use the <UP> arrow
key and the <DOWN> arrow key to move the highlight bar. The translation for
the highlighted line is displayed on the Translation Line at the bottom of the
 screen.

    Initially, the program is configured for Spanish to English translation;
however, you can change translation mode by pressing <F2>. If you are
translating from Spanish to English, press <F2> to switch the program to the
 English to Spanish translation mode.

Another feature of the Learn Spanish section is the ability to jump
directly to words/phrases that start with a specific letter. For example,
pressing <S> will move the highlight bar in the List to the first line that
starts with the letter "S." The computer will "beep" if you press a letter
and there are no lines in the list that start with that letter.

Press <ESC> to exit this option and return to the Spanish Tutor Menu.

 ^1Test Your Knowledge^0

When you feel confident with your knowledge of the Spanish language, try
one of the tests. Use the <UP> arrow key and <DOWN> arrow key to move the
highlight bar to the Test Your Knowledge option on the Spanish Tutor Menu and
 press <ENTER>.

The first screen displayed is the Test Configuration Window. You must
select the degree of difficulty and then the number of questions.

    There are two difficulty levels:

Level I: three multiple choice answers.

Level II: six possible answers; one is "None of the Above."

Use the <LEFT> arrow key and <RIGHT> arrow key to select the level of
exam you wish to take. Initially, the number of questions defaults to the
maximum allowed. You may change this by entering any value from 1 to 100. If
you cannot remember the maximum number of questions, press <F2> to reset the
value. After you're satisfied with the configuration, it's exam time! Press
 <ENTER> to start the test.

The Spanish Test Window appears on the right side of the screen, just as it
did in the Learn Spanish Window. The question number and total number of
questions are located at the top of the screen. Below that is a question or
phrase in English. At the bottom is a list of possible answers in Spanish.

The designation (coll) may appear by the "question-phrase" in English.
This indicates a "colloquial" expression, as opposed to a formal translation.

A check mark is located to the left of each answer. Press the <UP> arrow
key and <DOWN> arrow key to position the check mark next to the answer you
think is correct. Press <ENTER> and the correct answer will flash for a few
seconds. The program moves to the next question. Check your current score by
pressing <S>. Press <ESC> or <SPACEBAR> to return to the test.

To return to the SPANISH TUTOR MENU press <ESC> and then the <SPACEBAR>.

 ^1How Many Tests are There?^0

This question may have crossed your mind. The Test Your Knowledge section
of SPANISH TUTOR rearranges the questions and the answers in a random manner
to provide you with a variety of exams.
