The object of SCRAMBLE is to make as many new words as possible with the
letters in another word. Valid words include all standard English words. You
may not use proper names, abbreviations, slang, prefixes, suffixes, technical
terms, or jargon. Foreign words are not acceptable unless they are used in
everyday language. Plurals formed by adding "s" are not counted as separate
words; however, they may be used in the "Anagrams only" game.

SCRAMBLE offers four different playing modes:

      1. "Standard game": SCRAMBLE selects a word and you try to make as many
words as possible from the letters in the selected word.

      2. "Anagrams only": This variation requires you to think of words that
"use up" all of the letters in the original word. For example, "cheater"
is a valid anagram of "teacher," but "ache" is not.

      3. "?-letter words only": Play a game of SCRAMBLE with words of a
specified length. Before the game begins, select the word length (from 1
to 5 letters in length) you want to use.

      4. "Unscramble": In this game, SCRAMBLE displays a word with its letters
jumbled. Try to unscramble the word.

Select the appropriate number to begin the game. When playing any of the
SCRAMBLE games, a word is displayed in the upper portion of the screen. The
word "NUGGET" would be displayed as:

   ĿĿĿĿĿĿĿ Scramble will present
     N U G G E T <-- its word in the upper
         template.

   ĿĿĿĿĿĿĿ You try to build
                                        <-- solutions in the
         lower template.

To make new words from "NUGGET," use the <LEFT> and <RIGHT> arrow keys
to select a letter in the upper template. When the selection arrow is
directly below the desired letter, press the <DOWN> arrow key to copy the
letter to the lower template. After moving the desired letters to the lower
template, press <ENTER> to see if the new word is valid. If you make a
mistake, press the <UP> arrow key to clear the lower template.

The playing screen displays the type of game, the round number, the number
of possible word combinations, the words you've found, and the words
remaining. SCRAMBLE also evaluates your performance when a game is over.

With the help of our beta testers and several dictionaries, we have made
every attempt to account for all possible solutions in SCRAMBLE's dictionary.
However, we still cannot guarantee that SCRAMBLE will recognize every valid
 English word.
