 ^1ABOUT FASTAX^0

    FasTax is just one example of the quality software you can expect on
 PC BusinessDisk, the new bimonthly product for the "business-minded" PC user.
 Each collection of programs will provide you with business software that
 cannot be found anywhere except on PC BusinessDisk.

 ^1BEFORE YOU BEGIN^0

    Before running the program, you may also want to read the READ.ME text
 file for an overview of FasTax. Be sure your computer has a CONFIG.SYS file
 in the root directory. The statement "FILES=" should have a value of 20,
 i.e., FILES=20.

 ^1WHAT IS CONFIG.SYS?^0

    When you first turn your computer on the system goes through a process
 called "Booting Up". This "Boot Up" procedure includes a series of hardware
 tests, loading of the operating system into memory (IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS
 files), and starting the command line interpreter (COMMAND.COM which
 interprets and executes the commands that you enter at the DOS prompt).
 Before the command line interpreter is started, the computer looks for a
 file in the root directory of your bootable disk called CONFIG.SYS. This
 file is used used to CONFIGure your system. A typical CONFIG.SYS file might
 have the following information:

                                FILES=20
                                BUFFERS=20
                                DEVICE=MOUSE.SYS
                                BREAK ON

 ^1USING FASTAX^0

    Using FasTax will give you an idea of your tax situation for the 1989
 Tax Year. The due date for the 1989 tax return is April 15, 1990.

    Using it is easy and rather self-explanatory, but context sensitive help on
 each data field in FasTax is accessible throughout the program if the <F1> key
 is pressed when the cursor appears in the field.

 NOTE: While very beneficial, FasTax is not intended to be a substitute for
 professional advice, especially on many aspects of the tax laws which are be-
 yond its scope, such as minimum tax, early IRA withdrawals, and more. It is
 designed to give the average taxpayer an estimate of taxes due or to be
 refunded.
