December is a time for taking stock. As the year draws to a close, it's
only natural to reflect on what the last year has brought, at what's been
accomplished, and what's been left undone. And even though we at Big Blue
Disk have been busy creating more new software for you, we've been able to
pause (if only for a moment) to look back at 1989.

There are more IBM PC and compatible computers in operation in 1989 than
ever before. Thousands more MS-DOS computers are lighting up family rooms at
home, offices at the workplace, and classrooms at the neighborhood school.
That means thousands of new computer users, thousands of people who are
looking for software solutions. And to most of those new computer users,
expensive software is often an unaffordable luxury.

Big Blue Disk grew tremendously in 1989. It now has more subscribers, and
more users, than any other monthly software collection ever. There are more
than 50,000 of you out there, people who get Big Blue Disk in the mail or pick
it up on the newsstand. And from your letters and phone calls, you're a
 satisfied group.

Which makes sense. Big Blue Disk published some great programs in 1989.
Brushstrokes, the full-featured paint program for the PC. ResuMaker, a resume
creator. Mail Master, our mail-list manager. Legends of Murder, a terrific
graphics text adventure game. Utility 6-PAK, a collection of six invaluable
DOS utilities. The programming staff of Big Blue Disk, led by Bob Napp and
ably assisted by George Leritte, Jim Row, Mike Maynard, and John Romero, has
been putting in long hours and longer weeks creating and polishing some of the
best programs this side of the $100-a-copy software shelves.

But though 1989 has been a great year for Big Blue Disk, we have an even
better and bigger 1990 in the works. Early in the year, you'll see PC-M.D.,
a medical database that keeps your family's health history and information at
instant recall. Another feature program that will reach your computer in 1990
is FasTax Calculator, a complete tax organizer and estimator. And look for
Pixel Puzzler PC, a wonderful jigsaw puzzle maker that will keep everyone in
 front of the monitor screen.

And if you use your PC for business -- whether that business is in the home
or at the office -- we think 1990 will be your year. That's because we'll be
introducing a new business software-oriented product - PC BusinessDisk - that
will deliver top-quality business applications and productivity tools to you
on a regular basis. Keep your eyes on future issues of Big Blue Disk for more
 details.

Last year may have been great, but from our perspective here at Big Blue
Disk, 1990 is going to be even greater. Stay tuned to Big Blue Disk, and I'll
guarantee that you'll get more out of your PC than ever before.
