This software follows the FREEWARE concept; you may |
share it with your friends (and you are incouraged to do '
so), BUT if this software does any damage to your system
(it shouldn't) then I am not to be held liable. If you do
not agree with these terms and agreements then please do
not use the software. Also, the source code IS included,
you will need QuickBASIC to compile it, if you want to
'hax0r' the source that is fine, if you want to use it for
learning purposes that is also fine. BUT please DO NOT
abuse it, (like change a few things, compile it and
call it your own game)

How To Play |
----------------------------------------------------------+
 Training Mode: |
                                                          '

To get in, in XGMAE, at the main menu, go to Training.
Then when it asks you for a time limit use [UP] and
[DOWN] to change the time limit, and [ENTER] to continue.

Now, to play, simply blow up all the asteroids you
can within the time limit, (and don't let them hit you).
You have 7 weapons with unlimited ammo for all. Just use
the 1 to 7 number keys to select your weapon. Here is a
list of the weapons, their names, and what they do:

 # | Name | Description
---|----------------|------------------------------------
 1 | Missiles | Your typical missile.
---|----------------|------------------------------------
2 | Freeze Laser Freezes enemy on impact, you get a
   | | Bonus for destroying frozen enemies.
---|----------------|------------------------------------
3 | Mines | Your typical mines (set one off
   | | yourself, and lose a point)
---|----------------|------------------------------------
4 | Cluster Mine | Fires a cluster of mines, on impact
   | | 8 mines are released from the bomb.
---|----------------|------------------------------------
5 | Hypr Beam | Fires two parallel beams of pure
   | | energy, destroying EVERYTHING in
   | | their path.
---|----------------|------------------------------------
6 | Mini Missiles | Small Missiles, fired in a spread
   | | pattern (3 per a shot) this weapon
   | | is hard to miss with.
---|----------------|------------------------------------
 7 | RML 5000 | The RML 5000 is a drone that when
   | | launched into space, circles around
   | | randomly firing Minis. One thing
   | | though, only one can be active at a
   | | time.
---|----------------|------------------------------------

Now, when you destroy an asteroid, you get 1 point,
when you destroy a frozen asteroid, you get 2. If you
hit an asteroid you lose 3, and if you hit your own
mine you lose 1. The game ends whenever you press ESC
or your time is up. It calculates your K-E by dividing
your score by the amount of time that you played.
If you get a high score, then after the Game Over screen
the high score menu will pop up; you will see a section
that has [Enter Name Here] as the name, and it will be
highlighted in dark grey, press backspace until this
name is deleted, then enter your name, and when you are
 done, hit Enter to continue.
About every 10 seconds or so, a green space ship will
fly across the speed, blow him up, and you get a bonus.
Run into him, and lose 9 points.
In this version you have to do somthing to get the RML
5000, see if you can figure it out.

 Regular Game Mode:

This is the part of XGmae which I spent the most
time working on. The object is to get the required
score. You get score by shooting enemies. The enemy
gets score by shooting you. On the Right is your score
bar, it is red. You have to get your score over the
required score line. The level ends once all the enemies
are destroyed, or the enemy's score bar is full.

Your Score bar Enemy's Score Bar
    --------------- -------------------

 ---  <- Maxiumum score        Required Score ->  ---
 | | | |
 --- <- Required score | |
 | | | |
 | |                            Current Score ->  |X|
 | | |X|
 |X| <- Current Score |X|
 |X| |X|
 |X| |X|
 --- ---

 At the top, you will see the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
The number in red is the current weapon you have
selected; the numbers in White are other weapons you
have. The weapons in grey are weapons that you do not
 have.

At the bottum of the screen, you will see your number of
lives, and the name/amount of ammo on you current weapon.

Sometimes when an enemy is destroyed, a power up will
appear in its place. Just fly over the power up to pick
 it up.

 MultyPlayer Mode:

To get into the multiplayer menu, in XGMAE, at the
main menu, select MultiPlayer. It will bring up a list
of levels on the left; use the Up and Down arrow keys
to select levels. A preview of the level that your
cursor is over will be on the Right hand side (beside
the level list); at the top is the level's name. Next
you will see a graphical preview of the level. Next
will be the Level type (Death Match or Capture the flag).
Next will be the Score limit, and finally the time limit.
To select that level press ENTER, (note for IPX/SPX, TCP
/IP, or Modem games, both computers will have to select
the SAME level). Once you have done this, you should be
at the Method select menu. At the method select level
 you will have 5 choices:

Two on One PC : If you want to play two players on one
                     computer.

IPX/SPX : Play a game with a player on another
                     computer via IPX/SPX. (Network)

TCP/IP (not yet) : Play a game with a player on another
                     computer via TCP/IP. (Internet)

Modem (not yet) : Play a game with a player on another
                     computer via Modem connection.

   Now, how to play:

 Death Match:

Simply shoot your opponent until either a score limit
or a time limit has been reached

 Capture The Flag:

Easy, just get your opponent's flag, and bring it to
your flag; you will get a point, but only if your flag
is at its spawn point. If your opponent has your flag,
just shoot him, your flag will returned to its spawn
point, and your opponent will be sent to his.

NOTE: you cannot go off the screen and come back on the
other side in Capture The Flag mode (to stop
       cheating)
