Dolphin Fighter v1.00.00
======================================================================
Dolphin Fighter is yet another shooter, but this one with music, sound
effects, custom ship styles and the ship class who kicks more butts in
Starfleet: the Defiant Class USS Dolphin.

Story
======================================================================
If you've got one, please email me! I did this game just because I
wanted to learn how to use DirectQB.

System Requirements
======================================================================
You'll  need  at  least a  386. But I have a 4000MHz computer and when
using both music and sound it gets a little slow, so better disable
both on slower computers. It also requires at least 240KB of free
conventional memory (160KB if you disable the music) and 320KB of free
EMS memory (192KB if you disable the sound effects).

The program uses the VGA Refresh rate to do delays; if you're using a
refresh rate other than mine, the program will go too slow or too
fast. To see if you've the correct setting, enter the credits screen:
the music must end when the credits finish scrolling, not before, not
after. Then use the Win95 screen control panel to correct the value.

Running Dolphin Fighter
======================================================================
To play music, you'll need to load the Creative Labs drivers for it.
This program doesn't require that each one loads at a specific
interrupt; it'll automatically detect them.

First, load SBMIDI /G /1; then load SBSIM. If you have a MIDI keyboard
connected to your computer, try with SBMIDI /G /2 and you'll get a
really better sound (assuming it works and your keyboard sounds better
than the OPL3 chip on your computer). Once you quit Dolphin Fighter,
you should remove the drivers from memory. First, enter SBSIM /U; then
enter SBMIDI /U.

Command Line Options
======================================================================
Sintax: DOLPHIN [/NOJOY] [/NOMUSIC] [/NOSOUND]

/NOJOY Disables the Joystick. Use this if you don't want to use the
          joystick, or the ship fires constantly, etc.

/NOMUSIC Disables MIDI music, even if you've loaded SBMIDI and SBSIM.
          If you don't load SBMIDI and SBSIM, you don't need to use
          this parameter; but you never know...

/NOSOUND Disables sound effects. Use this to free 128KB of EMS memory
          and stop hearing explosions. This doesn't disable the music,
          you'll need to specify /NOMUSIC to do that.

Troubleshooting
======================================================================
PROBLEM: The music doesn't play, even when QMidi loads.
You'll need to free more conventional memory. The sound effects are
loaded in EMS memory, but the MIDI files need to be stored in
conventional memory. About 90KB of memory is required to load the
biggest file.

PROBLEM: I don't have enough free EMS memory.
If you're using Windows 95, right-click on Dolphin.exe and select
properties; then go to the Memory tab and put all items on Automatic.
If that doesn't work, click on Start, Run and enter
"NOTEPAD C:\CONFIG.SYS". When the file loads, delete the lines that
say "DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS"  and "DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE";
then restart the system and try again. If even that doesn't work, or
you're not running Windows 95, open CONFIG.SYS again and add the
following lines:
                 DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
                 DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE 512 RAM
That'll free 512KB of EMS memory. Restart the system. If it still does
not work, well, send me a email and I'll try to help you.

PROBLEM: Windows reports that the soundcard is in use.
This problem will cause the game to slow down a lot. It's generally
caused because you have enabled Windows' sounds, and every time you
open a program Windows plays a WAV file. There are two solutions: you
can disable Dolphin's sounds with the /nosound switch, or disable
Windows' sounds before you run Dolphin. Go to the Control Panel, open
the Sound applet and choose the "No sounds" scheme.
