1. introduction

this game was made for the mekka/symposium'98 32k game competition. sadly,
it never made it to the compo because i couldn't go there for some reason.
please make your opinion and compare it against the other competitors and
  tell me your impressions.

2. why no sound within the game?!

well, the soundsystem was nearly finished but there were some playback
gliches but i wanted to fix them during the party (shouldn't take more than
a few hours to fix the stuff) but since i weren't there and i'm very bored
of writing my own soundsystem, it never was finished properly. And because
any other soundsystem is too big for including it in a 32k game, i just pack
the original (but unpacked, ofcourse) tune with this archive without any
replay routines. You just need to load up cp or some other s3m capable
player, shell to dos and play the game and you have ingame sound (without
hiscore&jingles ofcourse, but it works nice for getting impressions on how
the game should be when finished).

3. controls

controlling is very easy. The game only works with keyboard. Here's the
keytable which works in the whole game:

  +--------+-------------------------------------------------------------+
  | key: | description: |
  +--------+-------------------------------------------------------------+
  | Cursor | Any cursor keys for movement (up, down, left right) |
  | Ctrl | Fire Button 1 (for firing rifle & flamethrower) |
  | Enter | " " " " " " " " |
  | Space | Fire Button 2 (for firing Grenades if available) |
  | P | Pause |
  | S | Switch between scroller and statusbar |
  | ESC | Quit to Highscore / Quit Game |
  +--------+-------------------------------------------------------------+

4. game elements / goal / how to play

All elements should be self explanatory. If you played shoot'em ups before,
  you shouldn't have any problems.

the goal of the game is (as always) just to play through all the levels,
  nothing more, nothing less.

Playing is as easy as the rest: Just run as quickly as you can, shoot all
enemies and try not to be killed. Thinking is not required but sometimes
  recommended.

Every killed enemy gives you points. Here's the itemtable:

  kill- and getable items:
  +------------+-------+---------------------------------------------------+
  | itemname: | pts: | description: |
  +-enemies:---+-------+---------------------------------------------------+
  | trooper | 150 | tracks player, runs, fires rifle & grenades |
  | gunner | 150 | hides behind stuff, fires rifle & grenades |
  | MG-gunner | 150 | hides behind stuff, fires standing position MG |
  | missileman | 300 | can only walk left/right, fires missiles |
  | biker | 500 | moves to one position or just through screen, |
  | fires grenades, only destructable by grenades |
  | SAM-site | 1000 | can't move, fires cannonballs, only destructable |
  | by grenades |
  +-other:-----+-------+---------------------------------------------------+
  | grenades | N/A | gives 3 grenades when picked up |
  | level end | 10000 | finishing a level gives you 10000 pts + extralive |
  +------------+-------+---------------------------------------------------+
Every enemy takes just 1 shot to kill. Every shot kills you.

To kill enemies, shot them with your rifle [Fire Button 1, pressed normally]
(good for some lonely troopers and for all-purpose things; your standard
weapon), throw grenades at them [Fire Button 2, pressed normally] (good for
small masses because grenades have some blast radius and can kill multiple
enemies at one time; some items have to be destroyed by grenades) or
  fire-up your flamethrower [by holding Fire Button 1] (good for big masses;
use this weapon mainly at the end of every level)
